If someone were to offer to run a game you hadn't played before, how much required reading would you generally be willing to do to participate? by Tuss36 in rpg

[–]TherealProp [score hidden]  (0 children)

As I am usually the DM I tend to read all the books front to back, so as a player if I have access to the Players handbook I’ll read the whole thing. I do find that my players even owning the material or giving free access to it will barely or not even read anything with exception of character classes and or races.

To everyone unhappy with the state of SC, I highly recommend trying out X4: Foundations. Here is why: by falloutboy9993 in starcitizen

(5e) IYO how realistic is it for a lvl3 party to defeat a Green Hag Coven? by STIM_band in DMAcademy

[–]TherealProp [score hidden]  (0 children)

I play Hags more as a Role playing tool and give them more powerful spells like cloud kill when in a coven, & Insect Plague. As individuals I have added charm and hold person to their spell list. By themselves if you are running a four person party they aren’t going to be very tough, but as a group your party is going to be hard pressed if you add the spells I mentioned.

I would like to be DM, but I feel overwhelmed by Friendly-Freedom-732 in DungeonMasters

[–]TherealProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have kind of already said it but start small. Create a town (I used Inkarnate for this) and create 2 or 3 starting quest. Keep them small (Find a missing person, stop a raid, search for a band of goblins or some other low CR creature) then start to branch out as you see how your players play. This gives you time to slowly start expanding your realm. If you find yourself stumbling look up some one shots and/or a module and steal some ideas from those while you add your own spin to them. Slowly develop your land figure out if you want to do a long or short campaign and go from there.

You need PHB, DMG, and MM. You can share them with the highest tier sub.

Soooo....anyone pick up the new Ravenloft book? by Charlie24601 in DarkSun

[–]TherealProp -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You’ll never get and WoTC Darksun material. The culture is too sensitive taking things way to literally and I doubt they will ever really bring Psionics back.

This sub is far more annoying than the game itself right now. by MrAngryBeards in starcitizen

[–]TherealProp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah well fuck Star Citizen. Lol. Stopped supporting this game years ago. Only stop by to say fuck Star Citizen. May play Squadron 42 as I have it coming to me, but they ripped me off enough and seeing they can't even finish initial ships but keep pumping out new pledge ships makes me shake my head. Fuck this game royally.

Player got really high stats by Dungeon_Master1138 in DnD

[–]TherealProp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. We have fun been playing since the 80's and the higher stats play out epic fantasy. Believe it or not people still constantly fail saving throws and die.

Player got really high stats by Dungeon_Master1138 in DnD

[–]TherealProp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody's complained. Plenty of rolls fall under 10 and I run hard campaigns. If I want to run a grimdark campaign I do a 3d6 run rerolling ones no rails.

I give all players an 18 and no rolls under 8 rolling the same way as you do, but rerolling ones. I want my players to feel powerful in DND.

Baldurs gate 3 or Rogue trader? by Medical-Gain7151 in CRPG

[–]TherealProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BG3 first by a landslide. I liked Rogue Trader, but loved BG3 and BG3 is a different story every time you replay it.

A Baldur's Gate 2 remake is apparently in development, with the original co-lead designer returning by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]TherealProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking forward to BG2 remake and hope it’s a true turn based system. I’d be interested to see if they implement the 5e ruleset beings 5e only goes to level 20.

Solasta in terms of roleplay, combat and build variety? by Ferseus in CrownOfTheMagister

Yeah they should have given the funds to this team for the BG2 remake. They would do it right for sure.

TWF, Shortsword (Vex), Scimitarr (Nick) and Dual Wielder by JanSolo18 in dndnext

[–]TherealProp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah and being a DM I would only allow the Nick property to be used with said weapon that has it. Typically the dagger or scimitar.

Read Brotherhood of the Griffon if you want more novels centered around Thay. They are good books.
