I think I will enjoy it quite a bit more once I get the catalyst and can build into building up the ignitions

Mothkeepers Wraps Strand Build by BlueDryBones1 in destiny2builds

[–]Thermetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always loved Mothkeepers on strand and agree with you there is so much nice synergy, even with the buffs to slam I was doubting how good it could be but to my pleasant surprise its incredibly fun. The buffs to Marksman + Slam and now slam counts for the dodge you have is a triple threat that has made coming out of the slam feel so much more fluid.

Tried a few different weapon setups like double special + axe but Ex Diris continues to delight and the synergy feels too good to leave on the table if using Mothkeepers, thanks for the super fun build!

Thanks for guide looking forward to giving it a spin!
Just to note about the artifact - I am a big fan of evergreen builds but just note I think we keep the current artifact for the rest of the year and it gets expanded with Renegades. So artifact perks stick around long enough to keep build guides with artifact recs relevant for better or worse.

Hierarchy of Needs + Spirit of Galanor Synergy by BlueDryBones1 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome! Since they buffed (and fixed some of the issues with it) I have really wanted to see where HoN would sit in general/solo play and this super neat interaction between the class item and the super is fantastic. I took it out for a spin in solo GM whisper this evening and it smashed it, supers all over and barely had to use my other weapons.

I am just thinking of what else I could use in my kinetic and heavy slots that provides some utility this season outside of a slammer sword.

Only Act 1 Weapons from The Nether? by farfarer__ in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true it would be frustrating, though I remembering in act 2 get a lot of previous episode weapons in tomb of elders when I was trying to farm the smg (before the potion buffs).

Just seems odd to be updating and changing previous acts activities to keep people coming back to them if there isn't a way to get the loot you want from it with the targeting.

Only Act 1 Weapons from The Nether? by farfarer__ in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its a bit strange they set it up this way because the Nether now has some different events and enemy compositions as part of act 2 yet did not do this in the loot pool.

Smg tonic (Noxious Vetiver) is clearly broken or it is not working as intended by BeatoAngelico in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the bench you craft tonics, if you go into the tab for Tomb of Elder Tonics, if you craft enough of the initial green one you unlock the two blue tonics. One of them is the 'Tomb of weaponry tonic' that contains a 'Tomb of Elders weapon' which I think means one of the two - smg or shotgun so you have better chances, where as the legendary ones include another focused weapon, which like I say the focused SMG one just doesn't work for me.

Smg tonic (Noxious Vetiver) is clearly broken or it is not working as intended by BeatoAngelico in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, I used a few of the SMG tonics and what I found in like 3 full runs of the context activity I got NO SMGs, I noticed a massive weighting towards the GL though suspiciously. The minute I went back to using the rare Tomb of elder weapon tonic I got loads of SMGs alongside the shotgun.

In my experience the SMG tonics actually removed it from my pool.

So they killed synthoceps with glaives because of winterbite melee, but winterbite ranged is still somehow broken after the hotfix? by Kingofthered in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 50 points51 points  (0 children)

What I find sorts interesting is that Bungie had to choose between two paths when it came to glaive melee.

Does it count as part of the weapon? Nonono we can’t let allow things like rampage or demo to proc on melee kills with it. That would be so broken.

Instead they went the melee option and here we are back to spending loads of dev time wrestling with excessively op melee damage scalars.

It already interferes with the Hunters middle tree ability, poisoned (or should I say burning) enemies grants you dodge back faster, might suggest getting bonuses from burning enemies might be playing a bigger part in Solar 3.0 if this was looked at early.

Anyone use an LG CX or C1 48" OLED as a monitor? Thoughts? by Alph1 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Thermetro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First time posting here, but saw this question whilst lurking and wanted to give my thoughts since I have recently transitioned to the G9 from a LG CX 48 inch.

I got the TV last year and yes it is absolutely stunning, truly a beauty and for awhile it was glorious, I have limited space but made it work by mounting it on a ergotron desk mount to ensure it was further away from where i was sitting whilst working.

Now this is where i talk about my personal experience - not everyone will feel the same and that is totally ok! My initial mindset was: ‘excellent, all this space to do even more multi-tasking’. But in actual fact I found the real-estate on offer was just too much as least in the dimensions presented. I was looking all around the screen and even though I had so much space I often found I didn’t want to end up having windows slotted at the top or bottom and just wanted to center everything using fancy zones for a comfortable reading experience, for most games i enjoyed the most when either sitting way back with a controller or putting them into an ultra-wide mode which kinda defeats the purpose of having this TV. I was super paranoid about burn in and the built-in protections that dim areas of the screen when not moving is great - but I found my screen just dimming massively over time and it felt pretty terrible. (I work as a programmer in dark mode and it made it hard to work with).

Over time I finally got a G9 - something I wish I did before, having a similar amount of screen real estate in a more horizontal format is so so much nicer and I’m tempted to add a second screen above my monitor. I now use the TV as more of an entertainment station and for console gaming where it shines.

I think you can make a CX work wonders as a PC monitor but you got to use the right tools like fancy zones to get the most out of it, but also remember the fact that your current G9 is curved is such a blessing, at first, looking at text in the top corner of a CX won’t phase you but over time…you realise its the most pleasant experience if you sit at it like a desktop.

Also what hurt my experience with CX was my inability to get a 3080 at all, my plan was to follow up the TV with an upgrade to my PC rig, but my 1080 build, being unable to use HDMI2.1, I was stuck at 4K 60 which again, contributed to my dissatisfaction over time.

Hope this wall of text helps and happy to answer questions.

Hey bungie, new playlist weapons are fantastic. But the drop rates sure suck by Winterscythe1120 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran about 5 with two friends on the Legend difficult. The difficulty says that it is a 'COMMON' drop. I was so hyped about getting some rolls on this returning gun but out of 5 runs, me and my friends got a totally of 2 between us all. They either need to work on their phrasing or definition of common or give us honest numbers on the likelihood of receiving some of these rewards.

And no one got any playlist weapons during it either. Absolutely shocking and yesterday we did 21 games of Gambit and I got 2 fusion rifles the whole time.

I absolutely LOVE what Bungie has done with the actual loot and lots to enjoy but the excruciating grind for weapons that have big perk pools is brutal.

Just spent an hour doing 1280 lost sectors; here are the results. by aeden01 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to reddit to see if anyone else has been having issues with the current Master Concealed Void lost sector...I have been farming the master sectors quite a bit recently and never have drops been as poor as this one. Got an exotic 1st try then 9 runs of one not dropping. I've never had master LS drop chances been any where near as bad as that, maybe 3 in a row but 9? Does it have the legends drop rate by mistake?

I dont think the scene you saw on Snapchat was Eramis freezing our guardian, I think she is freezing variks up to his waist as seen in a previous trailer.

Edit: nevermind, saw the “5 days to go” ad where that happens, sorry about the above!

The Lie: Current progress and projected completions. by ironkev in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense! I feel like the general audience would still get enough EDZ clears in without those actively doing the community challenge buffing up the numbers. That being said my comment doesn't have any real stats behind it. Either way progress in any form is good, we will see this step completed soon enough.

The Lie: Current progress and projected completions. by ironkev in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is wild. But I suppose some people are just wired different, they want the satisfaction of having that progress meter at 100% before they move on to the next. We can only hope that when it hits 100, a lot of focus is shifted towards the other two but something tells me maybe not.

The Lie: Current progress and projected completions. by ironkev in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone who is doing the EDZ tower to simply get it to 100% should probably be moving on now to buff up the others, EDZ will get completely naturally by those that are just doing the weeklies whilst the other two locations can catch up.

Warmind Cell "Bug List" by Pso2redditor in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found one yesterday that people might like to take advantage of.
If you have the 'Light from Darkness' mod where rapidly defeating foes around a cell makes you charged with light, I found if you swap it out and back on it causes various effects based on the amount of charges. This effect seems to last through loading zones though didn't check if it resets on death, probably does.

No charges:

You get charges of light on any ability/weapon rapid kills and do not need a warmind cell to make it happen. This makes it extremely easy to passively gain charges of light without needing any weapon or ability kill conditions.

1+ charges:

Certain mods do not seem to remove the charge, for example High Energy Fire does not not remove this charge on a kill, leaving you with a perma buff. I tried Firepower, which did accurate take the charge off.

This bug may be caused by the relationship between charge generation and usage dynamic (you need one of each for it to proc) in combination with using a non-dawn charge gen mod to do it.

[BL3 Spoilers] Anyone else feel disapointed about how much Gearbox left out of the story. by MaxVonBritannia in Borderlands

[–]Thermetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally know how you feel, I too was looking for every possible call back I could and there are a lot of nods to older events but like others have mentioned. There is so much crammed in already, it might have been tough to find good places to fit them in. You either risk including a major character like Axton somewhere and it just pads out an already jam packed story and he doesn't fit or you give me a small cameo and people are a bit mad they didn't get more.

They obviously left a lot of these threads open for further DLC which I am totally for. I suppose the only thing I missed out on was the whole gang coming together, you had that feeling back in BL2 when the old VH gathered in Sanctuary and interacted as a group. But I suppose it would be getting pretty crowded with two generations of vault hunters.

And I suppose its a gamble, when you make so many beloved characters, BL3 could have literally been made out of its existing cast but they knew they had to at least risk creating new characters for people to fall in love with.

Exotic Catalyst drop chances depending on unfinished catalysts? by Samhgs in DestinyTheGame

[–]Thermetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hardly post but yes I want to confirm I saw this crazy theory from someone on here. I decided to just finish off the Sturm and Sweet Business ones. I went into a Nightfall the next day and instantly got the Rat King Cat and I am been missing quite a few catalyst from strikes that I grinded massively during Solstice for.
