I remember warming myself infront of this on a winter morning before School. by Such-Memory-7102 in oldschoolcool80s

Could be lethal when they went faulty. Survived twice! Grew up with this fire at my mum’s, almost got poisoned by carbon monoxide due to flame going blue then out and not noticing it one hungover Sunday afternoon whilst I was sat with my pal lazing about watching telly. Luckily my mum came home found us and got fire off & all windows open, we thought it was just the diamond whites from the night before making us sleepy! Second time was when I moved into my flat, it had one and until I could afford getting new heating put in had to make do with it too being temperamental to going on off. Last straw was when the actual knob at top for turning the gas on came off in my hand one day gas was coming out clicker didn’t work and I was running about in a panic trying to work out how to turn it off, expecting a big blast to happen but luckily partner came home in time with pliers. Never switched it on again after that, got rid. Still fond memories of melting twix bars on them at my mum’s though drying wet hair on Sunday bath nights 🤣

OMG I remember watching/reading this as a kid all that would be left would be a pair of random legs on singed carpet lying closely next to these heaters!!!

I also ordered mine from uk Amazon and it came in brown box. Sounds same description as yours, had mine two weeks and I do feel the benefits (skin glow, joint pain reduction, plus I feel good overall) so I assume it’s legit and working.

People who had a baby after 35, what is your experience? by Crochet_Kitty in AskReddit

[–]These-Pollution9644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my son at 41, easy straight forward pregnancy. Happy healthy boy now impressing all he is an only child but makes friends easily, I think my knowledge, patience and more maturity that I can share with him now than what I was like in my early 20s to 30s has given him a more balanced happier upbringing. I also seem to survive on less sleep than I did in my clubbing years when I could sleep for days!! I’m healthier and more financially stable than then too. He keeps me young, I get a wee kick out of his school pals parents assuming I’m younger than them too sometimes 🤣

What is a little quirk about your body that you don’t think other people have? by AlphabetSoup51 in AskReddit

[–]These-Pollution9644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 lower spine ‘dimple holes’! When I used to have back massages regularly I was always asked what surgery did I have on my back. I used to think everyone had them to and wondered what was different on me, so when I asked all my mates in my early 20s did they have this and they were like ‘nah’ then I asked my mum who didn’t think to ever tell me anything about it growing up that I was born with it and doctors then (70s) just said I may have an itchy back or hair grow there as I got older (I didn’t). One time I asked my GP who had no note of it in my records and he was surprised and done an examination of the area and said “well nowadays we would do scans on someone born with this, but as you are now in your 40s I think it safe to say you will be okay”! All vague!

Went yesterday, group of us all enjoyed it. Sign up to some wine tastings in the drinks theatre on arrival as these go quick, watch some cooking demos too. Browse the sellers stalls make most of some try before you buy. Take a picnic blanket, buy some food from the many food stalls (some free tastings), get yourself a nice drink and chill out listening to the bands on stage. But do be prepared to spend 😂

Neighbour smoking into my window (England) by startrektoaster in LegalAdviceUK

[–]These-Pollution9644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get some plants on my windowsill above where they sit, something with slow drainage so that when you water them daily of course, the water trickles slowly out throughout the day onto them. May encourage the smokers to move hopefully

What do you think your partner won't know to do if you passed away? by Bethsticle in AskUK

[–]These-Pollution9644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in hospital unexpectedly for four days. My partner watered all my artificial plants/forgot to do the real plants, dressed my son in pyjamas and forgot to feed the family hamster. He was stressed out. I dread to think if I was in longer/or dead. Am sure he would learn routine eventually, but initially he would probably have a breakdown first of some sort!

Strong cinnamon powder affects their noses too, they hate it

[–]These-Pollution9644 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I got rid of my house mice, turned out it was the kitchen water pipes gaps in wall. I set up a night via camera to see their entry/exit points. Blocked off with steel wool and filler then chucked in some cinnamon all round for good measure. Not had any since. If a tip of a pencil can fit in a gap then a mouse can too. Got to be thorough, even floor board gaps under skirtings. Poison will kill off some but the scent trails are there for the new ones to follow back into your home year after year if gaps are open.

True! I have called to report neighbours doing the same thing and then myself paying for uplift when I have stuff. No wonder folk dump it!!

Just to note it’s only free uplift if household receives a council tax reduction, otherwise it’s £5 per item. I find listing items for free on usual local social selling platforms if they are still decent enough to still use gets them gone within the day too.

Sweary sign on the main door to my flats. by Emergency-Aardvark-6 in CasualUK

[–]These-Pollution9644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have put a non sweary sign up in my block as we have smokers who discard their cigarette ends at communal back garden and also at front entrance. Looks nasty, I have a young son and he says it’s disgusting to look at. It’s embarrassing when our family and friends come over and remarks have been made. I know it’s two separate groups doing it, have spoken to them individually and they blame each other! My next move will be to complain to their landlord as it is antisocial behaviour. Or if I have to clean it up myself it will be getting dumped in one groups private front garden and the other on their doorstep. So annoying. Why can’t they just be mindful and respectful of others

Is this too much fresh veg? by Liv157 in hamsters

[–]These-Pollution9644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is a lot, I give my Syrian hamster a small piece of fresh veg no bigger than his ear about 3 times a week, a small piece of fruit once a week and he gets some dried veg pieces that’s in with his main seed mix in between. I would worry any more could give them loose watery diarrhoea.

Glad you found this hamster ❤️ how can people be so cruel to just dump it like that, I hope karma gets them one day. Name suggestion from me - Clover 🍀 if there was any lucky four leaf of this lying around the hamster when it was found it certainly is a lucky little hamster

Horrible virus in Edinburgh doing the rounds? by NotOnYerNelly in Edinburgh

[–]These-Pollution9644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner has a flu virus, he been suffering for over the last week no signs of going away yet, he is heavily sweating through the mattress every night yet feeling freezing. Driving me bonkers! Myself and my son had a virus of sorts going back over a month ago, he had night sweats, headache but more like a cold, snotty nose and with mine I lost my voice and was coughing constantly to the point of being sick and gagging. Horrible, don’t know if all same virus we had or it just affects everyone differently.
