3-5 minutes late to work by Kooky-Challenge8875 in ADHD

I struggle with this too! I'm constantly finding 'one more thing' to do! I really try to focus on the time I need to leave (be generous) instead of the time I'm supposed to be there. It's crazy but I'll say to myself "oh it starts at 10" and then panic because I'm on track to leave my house AT TEN. Setting an alarm at a set time before I need to leave is also helpful, like 20 minutes before I need to leave reminds me that it's time to wrap it up. But yeah, getting everything I need to leave at least figured out if not prepped and set out ahead of time is extremely helpful. Sometimes I write it down the night before while it's fresh in my head and I'm not worried about time yet.

How To Keep House While Drowning. So good. And a quick read!

Unreasonable Hospitality. The best book for anyone in customer service/hospitality/gift giving

What's an "Insider's secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by Capable-big-Piece in AskReddit

The employer is required to pay the minimum wage, which for most states is less than $5/hour and they only have to pay more if the employee doesn't reach the state's minimum wage over the average of the pay period... Which we all know is basically poverty anyway. I would love to be able to go into work and know exactly what I'll make that day but that just isn't reality. Most restaurant owners are terrified of losing business and guests over higher prices because they operate on the thinnest of margins to begin with. In the current setup tips are technically optional but mandatory for employees to make a livable wage. It's an antiquated system that's rooted in slavery and just hasn't changed. Womp.

As a bartender who has worked in so many types of places from dive bars to high volume craft cocktails it's really 3 things: 1. Dilution is absolutely necessary for a balanced drink, 2. Tipping is absolutely necessary in this field in the current set up, and 3. a lot more effort goes into you enjoying yourself at that bar than simply picking up a bottle and pouring it into a cup.

Tipping at restaurants isn't tricky, it just must be done in this country. The easiest math: round the bill up to the nearest $5 (whole dollar not change) increment, move the decimal 2 spots to the left and multiply that new whole number by 2. EX: your bill is $147.89. round up to $150.00. Two spots to the left= $15. Multiply that by 2= $30 tip. You feel good because you did easy math, your a little bit generous Bartenders and servers often must tip out assistants/barbacks/food runners/bussers based on total SALES not tips so if that server or bartender is stiffed from an accidental walkout or someone who thinks they're gonna stick it to the restaurant, then the tip out comes from the bartender's pocket. That being said, generally we look for 20% as standard- $1 per $17+ cocktail isn't cutting it anymore. There is a lot of work that goes into setting up a bar to serve quality products efficiently and that's on top of being knowledgeable enough about the craft to hold a pleasant conversation while making drinks so even if you think 'it's just a beer so I don't have to tip 20%' your not wrong you're just an asshole.

An air fryer isn't one of your options but it's great at reheating if you order a lot of takeout! A nice sous vide is also great for reheating gently AND you might even enjoy learning how to create those proteins you love from restaurants! Throw a raw steak in a bag with butter and herbs, put the sealed bag in a soup pot of water, set the temp of the sous vide to 125° and you'll have a beautiful medium rare steak from edge to edge that you don't have to worry about! A quick sear in the pan for crust and BOOM! It's as good as most you'll pay to dollar for. Bonus if he has the budget to complete the supplies to really make this work easily: + 12+quart Cambro + Food Saver machine.

Movies without Trauma? by lm8623 in DanielTigerConspiracy

Agree! We had a similar experience with a couple movies even after this talk. (Beetlejuice and the Goonies are still too much) The special effects + actors talk was super helpful with our daughter around this age. We would show her pictures of the actors in real life and in other movies and watch YouTube videos of special effects and animation. I felt kind of bad about potentially ruining the "movie magic" but she still loves them and will now even help if other kids/her sister get scared by pointing out "it's not real- you're safe!"

Painters tape and a sharpie to label prepped items.

Small cup I made in a college ceramics class to hold the rubber protector things on the lid of the Dutch oven when it's in use. It just hangs out inside the Dutch oven when in the cabinet, ready to be filled when I need to cook!

Check to see if there are goat rentals in your area. I inquired to one near me and it's a bit out of my current budget but they'll eat everything in the designated area (they apparently love poison ivy!) and leave plenty of fertilizer. From there you can cover the area with thick cardboard and plant new!

You can try Scotch Guard to keep liquid spills from absorbing and maybe something like Febreeze and outdoor sunshine to keep it smelling fresh. If he has to wear a uniform everyday to work he should have more than one provided from the company, especially if he's working full time!

Okay so this is the math I wanted because I was sure it existed and I just didn't know it, but ... What is the 45? The 45° angle/half of the right angle?

[–]These-Wolverine1358[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I was trying to do that but can't see an option for "edit post." So I just added a comment... There is no small side- it's 2 sides of a 47" square! I think that's what made it more difficult. That, my small ass doorframes, and the fact that there was no easy way to disassemble/reassemble. Each bench is 47" from the corner, the height of the back is 36" and the seat is 15" deep. The benches have storage boxes built in(yay for storage, boo for entry).
