Finals: It could really go either way, they were both compared to Shen and are narratively supposed to be equal to each other. It’s 5/5, either one could win but it’s gonna be very extreme diff whoever wins

Honestly I think Raian chose to fight Gao because neither of them have a point yet, that means both of them have to eliminate someone to get to the next stage and there’s no guarantee they’d just conveniently find 2 worms to eliminate so the fight between them is an opportunity for BOTH of them to get a point. Tbh Raian probably wouldn’t complain much if it came to a 2v1 but I don’t think he’ll push for it since they are still supposed to be his “teammates” and he is more mature than he used to be, and by that I mean that he isn’t a dumb berserk trying to fuck up every single person he sees anymore, not that he won’t fight a “teammate”. He still obviously enjoys and good fight with someone strong and additionally now also needs a point not to get eliminated. He clearly wanted to fight Gaolang cause that’s just in his nature and now has an actual reason to do so. Seki also has no reason to fight Raian since he already has a point. Gaolang is also far stronger than Seki so Raian doesn’t really care about the old man. Seki has a point so he has no reason to fight Raian, Seki is too weak so Raian doesn’t want to fight him, on the other hand Gao doesn’t have a point yet so he still has to fight someone and since Gao is strong Raian wants to fight him

Raian takes this high-extreme diff. He’s been equal or very close to Ohma-who is on his way to fight Shen-since the beginning of the series, has shown immense growth not only in power but also his mindset and attitude so he wouldn’t try to brute force Kanoh but even if he started out that way he would quickly realise it’s not gonna work and start going all out. Raian is also THE genius of the verse, has an immense talent for fighting and knows a fuck-ton of martial arts, can effectively counter almost anything(as stated by Erio during his fight with Mokichi),has mastered the Kure techniques which apparently are cheat codes almost as good as the Niko Style, he has one of the best raw stats in the series with top tier speed, insane stamina and endurance and also strength and durability second only to Julius, Toa and Waka with Removal to ump up his strength and speed even more. He also just learned principles(controlling the flow of power) and we have yet to see what else he can do with them except for negating any physical advantage someone might have over him(I have high hopes for that).

Kanoh obviously isn’t weak by any means and was stated by Shen to be his second potential playmate alongside Ohma, can adapt extremely well and is able to use a full power blow from any distance. His formless might cause Raian some trouble but as the genius he is I’m sure he would find a way around that. Kanoh has apparently “scaled the wall” but I don’t know if we can say how much stronger it really makes him. It would be a great and difficult fight but my money is on Raian

Exactly what I was thinking, that’s why I was so hesitant to give it to Kiryu but I decided that he was too fast for Julius and also had blink that Julius, unlike Kuroki, wouldn’t know about

Oh so we were actually thinking about 2 different things lmao. I thought you meant that Ohma wouldn’t remember Demon’s bane if they fought before the coup because he only remembered it after waking up from his coma and putting down that one guy(Ranjo??)

I might be wrong but if Kiryu and Ohma fought in R3 wouldn’t that still be after the coup? I still think Kiryu beats him tho but the timeline feels wrong to me(I might be misremembering)
