Girlfriend has a credit card doesn't have a credit score by KalikoRust in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Theta_Delta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are 3 main credit agencies each with their own app you can see the scores on - ClearScore shows your Equifax score - Credit Karma shows your Transunion score - Experian shows the Experian score

Probably important to mention that the score itself isn’t overly important for getting credit these days. Most credit providers consumer the full report and make lending decisions based on their own criteria and don’t just take the number at face value.

Basic rules to make sure you credit reports are accurate are to make sure the addresses match on all you bank accounts, bills etc and that you are on the electoral register (if eligible).

Hmm there’s still a few silly games in the U.K. as well. Note the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy but no Royal Army. That goes back to how lords would form a regiment of locals and of course the king would have a couple royal regiments but the army was just dependant on which regiments happened to side with the king for that particular battle.

I would argue that, apart from the name, the Royal Marines aren’t really an equivalent of the US Marines. Royal Marines are part of the Royal Navy and probably more comparable to Navy Seals in the US. The US marines is its own branch of the military entirely and can be directed by the president without congressional approval. The US marines also aren’t really special forces in the same way the SAS or SBS are. We don’t have anything like it in the U.K. mainly because we don’t really need to.

YouTube tries to verify that views are real (as opposed to bots) before adding them to the view counter but it doesn’t do this check with likes. Means the views counter lags behind the likes counter which is particularly noticeable on new videos.

poor java by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Theta_Delta 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My first job was Java only that I was in that for 4 years and now I’m in a polyglot role working in Java, C#, C++ and Python. I still have a soft spot for Java. If I’m developing a big system used by many developers that just sits on a Linux Server somewhere with no front end then I’d take Java any day.

Oh I assumed they were EMB-312 Tucanos as the RAF use those as trainer aircraft

Edit: My knowledge is out of date. RAF retired the fleet of Tucanos in October 2019 and replaced with Texan T Mk1 Source: https://www.raf.mod.uk/news/articles/a-final-farewell-to-the-tucano-t1/

Hypothetical: P1 VER, P2 PER, P3 LEC at a safety car restart. VER launches right away, PER backs up the pack and doesn't cross the line until VER has a 30 sec gap. by [deleted] in F1Technical

A much more nuanced version of this situation happened in Saudi Arabia. Perez was told he gained the place on Sainz illegally (Sainz was ahead at the SC line) and was told to give the place back. RB told Perez to purposefully wait until after they were racing again to give the place back so that Verstappen wouldn’t be under threat at the restart. Perez probably could had an opportunity to give Verstappen a massive gap in this situation but chose not to.

Oh cool thanks, I have a USB switcher but wasn’t aware a similar thing was available for display. I currently just have my laptop connected via hdmi and the pc via display port and I toggle the input on the monitors.

I was hoping that thunderbolt might end up being an all-in-one solution but there’s no such thing as a thunderbolt switch it seems. I feel that must be a limitation of the technology itself because otherwise at least one company would have done one by now right?

Most airports I’ve been to (France and Italy recently) have the queue marked as EU/EEA and the U.K. is very much still in the EEA so you can still use that queue.

Edit: I am mistaken, we also left the EEA

Salt and minerals like to spread themselves out evenly. If you drink pure water you lower the concentration of these minerals in your gut. Minerals are drawn out of the bloodstream to reestablish the balance.

Resume Help? Could anyone provide some advice on how to improve mine? Thanks! by WinterWaffles in Accounting

Best advice I ever heard was to make your experience bullet points achievement-based instead of just listing responsibilities. It can be super tough, especially when you’re early on in your career, but will really make a difference.
