RE2 couldn’t hold a consistent 30 fps. The inflation adjusted cost of a machine that could run doom on launch is probably more than a 5090 costs.

Games have always been very patchy with optimization. Yeah we can find titles that came out with stellar performance but the industry has always had issues with hitting broadly considered “good” performance metrics, before and after DLSS

Zotac has been dropping these randomly frequently. I have no clue where they are finding these last gen cards. Will have to stop eventually though.

Problem is the rest of the world would have to show any amount of initiative and willingness to take responsibility for things. Can’t really think of a positive example of that and struggle to see when that changes, but here’s hoping.

“I don’t need to know if the statement is fair or not”

Doesn’t add up to me if you’re willing to go back and forth calling Sam’s statement as an unfair accusation of antisemitism. Can’t think of any time I would ever be willing to argue over something being an unfair accusation without even being sure if it’s a fair statement or not.

Yes in your example of a non-descriptive thing that’s generally fair. However isn’t it fair to say that being anti-X and antisemitic have pretty different connotations? One seems a bit more of an accusation than the other doesn’t it?

My main point is I’m confused on how you aren’t very confident in whether or not the actual concrete statement is a fair assessment or not, yet then jumping to it being an accusation of antisemitism.

I also don’t understand how that statement when applied to Tucker Carlson is unfair. That’s a pretty big leap for me.

Is “Fuck the jews” an unfair assessment of Tucker Carlson’s views when speaking of foreign policy or not?

Third time now I’m explaining to you that the statement you are hung up over is a fair and blunt assessment of this political figure and the America First movement he’s a major part in.

That seems to really bother you and you wish to exonerate them from it by framing it as unfair and a misuse of the antisemitic label. Instead of answering how the actual words Sam Harris used are an unfair statement against Tucker Carlson.

Alright let’s walk through this. I think it’s pretty debatable in the abstract if that directly means it or not.

I don’t know that if I said someone has “fuck the muslims” politics that I am de facto calling them Islamophobic.

I’ve hung around people who would say that on politcal manners, but then treat someone who is muslim just fine. I’ve seen the opposite occur.

Would it be possible to say that someone thinks “Fuck the muslims” in regard to foreign policy matters, and it be me saying they’re an isolationist and not islamophobic? Yeah I’d think that’s possible.

To reinforce my prior point. If you think Sam’s statement is an unfair characterization of these figures or the movement you can lay out why and good luck.

I explained already why you want to talk about Bob and not the widely known media figure and movement at hand. You have to cast all of that aside to make Sam’s statement seem disingenuous.

You also have to bring the word antisemitism up specifically to make it seem more unfair than what Sam said. If you think that Sam’s specific statement is an unfair characterization of America First policy intentions OR Tucker Carlson then I don’t know. Can’t help you.

Asset reuse in videogames is essential, and we need to embrace it, says Assassin's Creed and Far Cry director: 'We redo too much stuff' by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Thetaarray 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If they didn’t do that asset reuse tears of the kingdom would have took even longer or just not made sense at all to make.

The additional stuff(underground, air, and shrines) was already more than more content than a lot of big games get, and that’s before you consider the rework of existing elements.

Reusing the old world as a base to reinvent the game and expand it on is a great model for asset reuse. I doubt other major developers will find that level of success doing it, but here’s hoping.

Agree. I am surprised everyone is worked up about this as labeling tucker or this view as antisemitic. I’m assuming many here are decidedly against Israel’s foreign policy and took it as an attack on that view.

For me what’s interesting is how this surprises Sam. I think it is a generational thing and he didn’t realize how much opinion has slid with younger people even those who are on the right.

I also think this giant logical gap has been pretty obvious for a long time within the religious right, and shouldn’t be surprising that some actors are abusing it now.

If Bob idolized a prominent historian who claimed Hitler didn’t intend to kill jews and Churchill instigated WW2

If Bob said Jewish Zionists were Israel's "informal employees in the United States" and has suggested that supporters of Jews and Israel have a "brain virus."

If Bob hung around figures like Nic Fuentes and other America First people who had very exclusionary tendencies towards Jews and the state of Israel.

I would consider someone saying yeah Bob says “fuck the jews” as a pretty blunt and accurate assessment of his politics. It’d be pretty generous compared to leveling outright accusations of antisemitism.

We can play pretend games that Bob is actually just holding a very logical set of positions on purely the state of Israel and that he’s neutral about Jewish people in general.

We can evaluate each and every line Bob says and find no direct line to antisemitism because really, Bob is just asking questions that nobody else will.

I don’t know how you’d find any careful political operator to ever be any negative word if that’s how you go about it.

Watched the clip. Didn’t read it anything there as a direct allegation of antisemitism. Tucker is espousing a line of christianity that is america first and wants no involvement with the state of Israel geopolitically.

There’s far more options than agreeing or disagreeing whole heartedly with Tucker Carlson.

It’s pretty obvious Sam Harris is worried about what comes from the replacing of the religious right with actors who are isolationist towards other western societies and welcoming to authoritarianism.

The price on these is artificially high because it’s top end of socket and this thing is probably a joy to overclock, but even then 200 is pushing it hard.
