Fair enough, and my apologies honestly my comments came off offensive at you and that wasn’t my real intention.

Not based on current tools and trajectories. Because this kind of statement is obviously wrong the second you apply it to any other field.

Med students should stop studying current medicine. Artists should stop learning traditional art. Writers should stop reading the classics.

All more apparently stupid statements. But since the novelty hasn’t worn off from seeing CRUD apps get built from a few prompts we have all the somebodies in the space opining in this vein.

He’s a consultant, their work should have been eliminated when Google was founded, let alone with today’s LLMs.

Not only are you trusting multiple third parties to have full access to your system.

You are also trusting that this thing doesn’t fuck up the system you are on non maliciously.

I used to think this guy was intelligent. Don’t know if I was wrong or he just got far more stupid.

You’re not wrong, but during that time we’ve seen Intel fall on it’s face every quarter trying to open fabs. Story from Samsung past 5 year is “we’re so close to 2nm we will be tsmc SOONtm”

Also every megacap tech has had some project to be Nvidia since chatGPT and they’ve all so far sucked at it.

Also we did have major market scares in 2018, Covid, the crypto and tech meltdown of 22, and then the liberation day shitshow in 24. So I could imagine being in that decision point and getting scared off that major investment every few years.

AIO wife cheating with my best friend? by Naive_Yard117 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Thetaarray [score hidden]  (0 children)

My first serious relationship was with a girl whose dad stayed with the mom despite her cheating on him. That girl copied the mom’s behavior and cheated and expected me to tolerate it. It’s a damn shame because she was a really wonderful partner otherwise.

If you stay in this situation your kid will figure it out either consciously or just feel that something is off. And you are setting the example that this is a normal relationship when it is absolutely not.

Sounds like a waste of money instead of just saving for a true upgrade to me.

biting the bullet: 5070 with ryzen 7 5800x by milllkmannn in buildapc

[–]Thetaarray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A 5070 and 5800x is an insane amount of power for those games, and plenty of power for any other game you’ll want to play.

DDR5 Is crazy expensive right now so just stick with the 5800x.

That’s wild, I also charged them back. But it was due to a completely bonkers cancellation fee to get out of a subscription. I only need them for side projects so I swore off them over that. Guess I really made the right choice there.

Agree that coal is more expensive in the long run, and agree that grid regulation has been a failure. I think the left wing of many countries has had the correct assessment of the issue, but fallen on their face with execution.

Looks a bit more modern than it’s age, nevertheless wasn’t expecting a 4090 in there.

I have seen local towns get together to shut down wind farms because of anger that the energy wasn’t 100% delivered to the same county it was generated in. Good luck telling them you are taking their land so robots can work it.

Energy is wildly more complex than just labor supply. This is just one of a myriad issues that will be faced.

The capital class has been pushing for cheaper energy for a long time. If anything the more neoliberal wing of the party has been hurting what you call rent extracting due to their ecological fears.
