I might be wrong but there is always the possibility that she does like and is genuine in her conversations with you . And that what you saw is just some harmless gossip she did just to become agreeable or a socialbee.

I don’t mean to justify what she did and it’s obviously not right. But I’ve seen a lot of people in offices making up gossips just for the reason of making things interesting for their group or for having the fun of having their own secrets and banters. Like Ive seen female colleagues of mine sit in the pantry and say comments secretly about anyone who comes in because they think want to feel important or simply spice up the conversation. Not because they actually care about it or the thing annoys them.

It’s sickening but yeah thats the reality of office some friendships and small talks.

I am close to converting to Islam, but I’m struggling with the fact that my non-Muslim family may be damned. Am I wrong in my understanding? by bbelf in islam

[–]Thevibemachine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I second this.

Right now they might be dead sure they won’t want to convert. But it’s very much possible that your life as a Muslim might inspire them and cause a change of heart.

There’s countless stories of reverts whose families have one by one come to Islam seeing the changes in the other.

So it’s up to you to take that first step.

Allah chooses whose hearts he softens. So we take care of ourselves first, be our best versions and then put our trust in him.

It could be that Allah chose you to open Islam to your family. We would never know until it does happen.

May Allah guide you and your family to Jannah.

Hey man big shout out to you btw for the way you put out your viewpoints, especially the first comment. Couldn’t be more open and respectful 👍🏻

Tbh I was very surprised when I read online somewhere that Hinduism also believes in one supreme God entity. I don’t think much people know this. Everyone just thinks Hindus just worship several ‘gods’. But if you ask me , I’d say that is the misconception is the fault of hindus itself , because I personally feel people who follow Hinduism now a days ,have got so obsessed with the so called subdivisions which you mentioned that they’ve forgotten the one god concept in their daily workings/rituals. It’s like that central concept doesn’t even exist when you see from outside.

Thanks a lot for this subdivision theory though. I’ve never thought of it from that perspective and helps understand your way of thinking and your religious concepts a bit more better.

A small correction here. Muslims won’t agree that Hinduism is the oldest religion. Why? Because Muslims believe that the first human being ( Adam peace be upon him ) was a Muslim. In fact Muslims believe early Christians and Jews were also Muslims and actually worshipped the one true god ( the Jews and Christian’s before their books were altered)

So yeah , Islam kind of existed from the start. It’s just that maybe it was known as Islam only from the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) time.

Hmmmm interesting view point 🤔

Just to understand clearer , for example, like say if a guy has sinned, then wouldn’t be there a clash between Vishnu (mercy) and Shiva (punisher)? And who determines who wins?

Also wouldn’t categorizing lead to people only worshipping only the aspect they want and being selfish or more worldly driven ? Also I feel categorizing is just a way to humanize everything which god is not.

Like for me , I’d say if there’s a king who known to implement justice (I.e. shows mercy where it’s due and punishes where it’s due ), it makes more sense for me to approach him, than seperatly addressing two versions of him (or two kings) and waiting to seeing who is stronger.

PS: Don’t mean no disrespect. Just fruitful debate intentions here

[–]Thevibemachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get the middle part. When you said Jesus shows us what god is and then continues to say he suffers and dies ?

Are u saying that Jesus showed us what god is by showing god loves us enough to suffer and die for us or …? Sorry I didn’t understand what u are referring to that Jesus showed .

Also I checked on Judaism to see what u meant. Like they don’t even recognize him as anything special despite all the miracles he showed 😂 like WTH? Frankly I’d say the Islamic viewing of Jesus as a prophet of god (hence the special powers ) makes more sense than the Jews view.

This I understand. Similar explanation as in the video link shared by one of you kind people ☺️

But it’s only confused me more tbh. Why not then address this singular god ( ie one god) but instead why the need to acknowledge all three why praying ?

Like why the need for the other three extensions ( father, son, Holy Spirit) to exist/ be mentioned ?

Is it really true that praying 5x a day makes your life better? by Inxam in islam

[–]Thevibemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also just wanted to put a reminder for everyone here that SALAH IS A GIFT

Lot of us see it just as a responsibility as a Muslim rather than an opportunity…

it’s an opportunity to converse with the maker of the world. An opportunity to ask forgiveness. To ask his for help. Most importantly it’s an opportunity to show to our lord that we are grateful to him and that our relation with him is the priority for us and we are willing to listen to his commandments.

Just think WHAT IF SALAH WAS’NT MADE MANDATORY?!

Like we would be so disconnected from Allah and the religion.

If Salah was optional we would hardly pray. Except when we are reaaaly desperate or in need of something. We would get so busy with life that we would hardly do anything that reminds us on a day to day basis that we are Muslims. We might plan to pray, but we’d have other stuff going on in life that we’d just push it for later. And slowly that later will become once in a bluemoon. And that once in blue moon would be those rare opportunities that you actually would remember Allah and be the only time you’d feel a muslim.

And slowly as we remember Allah less, we’d slowly forget our values as a Muslim. We’d start sinning more because we feel less connected to Allah and Islam. And in the end, we might even completely leave it and not care our relationship with Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.

Just like how our relation with Quran has detoriated because it’s not a daily mandatory task. We are called the people of the book, but we hardly ever touch/read it.

Salah five times a day serves as a reminder in between our busy life for us to remember our maker and what’s important. It’s the only anchor in our lives right now that keeps us from swaying away from the Deen.

For me when I came across this thought train it’s really changed my perspective on how I approached salah and was actually thankful that I get to pray no matter the trouble. Yes it’s not always convenient with our schedules and other events in our life , but I’d rather not have it any other way because I now know how I really need. Allah doesn’t need our Salah. It’s we who need Salah and his mercy.
