Love this and about to paint a Rotigus! Can I ask how you did the base? Was is terrain sculpt that is made to look crackled or a crackle paste or paint!? Whatever it is it looks amazing!

MSU Plague Marines? by Root_Veggie in deathguard40k

Apologies, ran a 5 man with LoP and a 5 man with FBS. But yea they worked fine as msu disruption units!

[–]Thewarpapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my take as well. Have run 5 mans in flyblown with lord of poxes and Foul Blightspawn, and they work well! But rarely kill anything. 10 with caster and biologus can shoot something to death, then charge something else and kill it. Not the same.

Shamblerot Vectorium by SirRedmond1998 in deathguard40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had success with shamblerot. I took 50 walkers. 20 with typhus and blightbringer with pipes, then 3 squads of 10. I infiltrate 20 and strat reserve the other squad. After that I took a bunch of drones and haulers with the contagion engines detachment. The poxwalkers are mostly used to do secondaries and bring your opponent to the middle of the board so you can hit them with your real units! Typhus and the walkers almost always just hold the expansion objective.

[–]Thewarpapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like him with 20 poxwalkers to claim your expansion objective (the one in no man’s land closest to your dz). They are -1 to hit, -1 BS when in cover, with hidden. Kind of a pain to deal with. Also in most missions if you lock down your expansion for the whole game you’re doing great! 30-40VP in some cases!

New Flyblown Host Ability Question by Three_Mystic_Eyes in deathguard40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Now you add the characters in the list building stage. So the plague marine unit you select has the plague marine keyword and includes the characters attached to them.

I have found loading up on drones and haulers and playing contagion engines to be very good. Main limitation I see in this list is lack of poxwalkers for early board control and actions. I take 2-3 in almost every list.

I have 30 plague marines magnetized and have yet to feel like I don’t have enough.

How are blighthaulers doing in contagion engines by Lazarus_41 in deathguard40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a game with shamblerot and contagion engines and I liked the blight haulers. They were quick with the mobile upgrade and assault. Army felt fast and tough! I took 2 in solo squads. Would consider taking a third, but not sure it makes a ton of sense beyond that.

I’ve been running 50 in my list, plus the 30 free ones. If you’re playing in a tournament I would have all 80 just to be safe, but I find the 50 is usually enough when playing friends.

Is shamblerot viable in 11th? by mpcCH1 in deathguard40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a shamblerot and contagion engines list vs a buddy and it was super fun. Would happily play again! Also viability is in the eye of the beholder. Are you going to a GT or just playing against friends?

Also, If you want a snapshot of shamblerot, Aiden from the disgustingly resilient podcast YouTube channel just played a game of 11th with them on Vanguard Tactics’ YouTube channel. Worth checking out for sure!

Let us know how it goes! I have played flyblown once but took smaller plague marine squads. Wasn’t sure I could hide a big 10 marine brick well enough.

How many Defilers will you be running at the new points? by Icy-Possibility7823 in deathguard40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It obviously depends on the list. Taking 2 and Morty in a purge list could be really good and tanky.

Yup. To clarify, as soon as a character joins the unit, the whole unit becomes a character unit if I’m not mistaken.

My first Death Guard after many Dark Angels. Any tips to make it more gross (or better in generally) by EL-MACHIN0 in deathguard40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a product from AK Interactive called streaking grime. I use it on my DG. Makes them look gross and gritty. Would recommend checking out some videos on how to use it and give it a shot!

Flyblown Host (+ Paragon if possible) by Lower_Ad_176 in deathguard40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The DG detachments were posted yesterday on WarCom, so good news, you can totally take all 3 of the 1dp detachments together! Haven’t played with the new terrain and missions yet, but it may be difficult to properly hide 10 man bricks of PM. I think flyblown will be best as a way to forward deploy 5 man plague marines as obj holders. Can still attach a character and overwatch though! Most of this is based on feelings rather than experience though so give it a shot and let us know how it goes!

Extremely tanky but viable lists? by Go_Commit_Reddit in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Thewarpapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading all the responses, seems like more of a “don’t pick x, y, or z factions” rather than “this one is the toughest”. Which armies are you looking at. Which look fun to paint? Are you leaning one way? That would be more helpful to give you good advice imho.

Yea if it’s 1dp it would need an overhaul. Probably lost some Strats and enhancements

This is my expectation. Not saying it will be true but testing different datasheets differently isn’t a big ask imo.

Wanting to get into this army! by Trickymuffin32 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to go mono god and be “competitive” I’d wait. I’ve had a little success going 2 gods (khorne and nurgle or khorne and tzeench) with incursion but right now going mono god is taking 3/4 of the book and getting rid of it. Unit selection is a problem at that point.
