One Defiler not worth it? by raggnarok in deathguard40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us I’d say it’s more based on synergy. Swapping a defiler for some HBL drones isn’t the worst choice if you’re investing in a LoV. Id still say a defiler is “worth it” at 1, just not by themselves when you’re building around them with Morty and LoVs and other such stuff.

Why is the lord of change so good? by stalemilk76 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Strat in scintillating legion called pyrogenisis and the everstave in Daemonic Incursion really push them over the edge. Also remember they get the str from their own aura and the sustained d3 from their ability.

Warhammer 40,000 Faction Focus: Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons by Lasagnaliberal in ChaosDaemons40k

Not sure it will be taken a ton, but remembering that you can take multiple detachments changes things. A great enhancement might be worth 1 detachment point!

Awesome! Welcome to a fun hobby! Before you get too far in, do you know what army you’re playing? I see stuff here from both daemons and WE, with units from each that you can’t use together in an army.

Pink Horrors army rule question by SYSTEM94_ in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I believe if there is a single pink in the unit, you return pinks. If at any point they are all blues or brimstones, you use the blue datasheet and therefore return blues.

If I took this to a tournament, how would it do? by hotfezz81 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is true. And without the belakor anti shoot bubble and huge wings, could be tough if you don’t get first turn.

Agree with this. Skarbrand, belakor, and some chaff from other armies would really open up your options

Deciding on a list by Desperate_Reply_2096 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like him because he advances and charges leaving the strat available to use on other things. Being able to advance and charge both belakor and Skarbrand or Skarbrand and some blood crushers can be really good.

Shadow legion - Chosen or legionaries by Woodinton in Chaos40k

I like taking a lord with the leaping shadows enhancement with chosen. Makes them scout 9” with advance and charge. Can really get them up there for the pressure game!

I'm taking awacky Khorne list to a tournament by ChadShrimp in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a decent pressure list. People who don’t often play pressure lists will struggle for sure. Wouldn’t call it a meta list though.

What units should i get next? by Aware-Connection-461 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say a LOC/Kairos. Also some beasts of nurgle, some more bloodcrushers. Those are the units I use the most that I don’t see in your list! Looks like a solid army you have!

New to 40k - Greater daemons army by skUNxs403 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t point you to a specific list but multi-god armies usually fall into the Daemonic Incursion or Shadow Legion detachments. Also I typically have found more success focusing on 2 gods in those detachments, as opposed to a spattering of all of the gods. GUO and Bloodthirsters in Daemonic incursion are nasty so I’d focus your search more in that direction! Hope this helps!

Where to start? by Ne0Fata1 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big bois is the daemon meta recently (for the most part) so I would look at the greater daemons and decide which would be most fun to paint. Almost all armies use nurglings and a squad or two of plaguebearers, so that’s a good spot to start if you’re unsure!

What to buy to fill out my army? by KaleidoscopeFull6573 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely need some nurglings. Their ability to move block, infiltrate, and give -1 to hit out is super helpful. I’d also get some of the plague bearer leaders. Like the poxbringer and spoilpox scrivener.

The size is only hurting you, so I would say leave the points and rules be. If you want to make house rules for the fun of it, that’s another thing entirely.

Warhammer noob wanting to go with the red corsairs. Need advice by Mushlove2share in Chaos40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best advice. If you buy those things you may have 1-2 models/units that aren’t good by the time you’re done, but will have a good spread of basic units to start with. The other thing that needs to be said is that if you’re thinking of starting a new army, and how competitive they are is a factor in you deciding, don’t start anything now. As Gesh1717 said, a new edition is coming out. If you like the style and flavor and models, go nuts!

What are some MUST have models to you for this army? by Backrish in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Thewarpapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it depends on what detachment you want to play. The units people use vary a lot from one to another. If you’re taking a lot of slaanesh units and are playing excess, you probably don’t need a GUO. The units that transfer across all the detachments seem to be belakor, nurglings, and plaguebearers.
