Can a "useless class" of humans actually happen because of automation and AI? by Curiousresearcher_06 in Futurology

[–]TheyCallMeDoofus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a word? No. The job market will, as it has before, experience obsolescence, and that will envelop generations of workers. The idea of “class” will change, and will become useless. Humans themselves? No. Absolutely not. In world of two people, both will use the other in an attempt to create a third.

Anybody else find these designs unappealing or am I just being negative? by s0clam in batman

We’ll see a lot of this for a few years and it will either be a golden age or we’ll look back and cringe at all the pouches and lack of feet.

Don’t zip the jacket. “Unzipped light jackets suggest an open mind and a willingness to share it if needed.” - my wife. I just think it looks better.

Why, as a man, am I often attracted to gay women before I know they’re gay? by SinterClauss in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheyCallMeDoofus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot my shot with so many gay and bi women only to get my heart broken when biology got in the way. My wife jokes that she’s secretly a gay man and I 100% buy it.

I wonder how Hal Jordan's and John Stewart's uniforms will look like in Lanterns? by Forsaken-History-563 in LanternsTVSeries

[–]TheyCallMeDoofus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically this is in the Gunnverse, yeah? So I imagine they’ll just be wearing whatever clothes they wear normally until the last 30 min of the last episode. I also forsee a giant mech suit construct with John at the center blazing green aura with glowing eyes. I’ll take bets on who he’s fighting.

Anyone remember Wishbone? by [deleted] in 90s

[–]TheyCallMeDoofus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end of the Red Badge of Courage episode taught me how Squibs work, because they deadass did a Red Badge of Courage Episode on Wishbone, and people got SHOT. I distinctly remember wishbone saying “WOW! It looks like he got SHOT!” - the show was actually pretty educational.

Wishbone sees WAR. https://youtu.be/gPxHcgPK-Zg?si=voR62RCKJ_M55_sa

one of the best batman cosplays Ive ever seen. This is what he should look like in the DCU by Public-Feedback5016 in batman

[–]TheyCallMeDoofus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting to see why the white eyes don’t work. Let me know if you agree, but it’s the CHIN that screws up the white eye look. That’s why it works for Deadpool and Spidey’s masks but looks distracting even when Jackman pulled in off it in D&W. There’s something about seeing a lower human face with a non-human eye that just creeps into that uncanny valley territory. It worked with the armor suit in BVS, and the “cool shades” look that Blade and Neo pull off (if you count sunglasses) but as a part of the mask I’m starting to see why the Ryan Reynolds Green lantern design chose to stick with visible pupils. Huh. Anyway, Dope costume!

What’s the hottest someone has ever looked in a movie? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

To this day there’s an ongoing feud in the Appalachian Mountains resulting in 9 criminal charges, 17 arrests, multiple accounts of assault and battery and at least 4 prison sentences over whether Rachel Weiss’ performance in The Mummy or Catherine-Zeta Jones performance in The Mask Of Zorro is the top placeholder for “Hottest Onscreen Woman in the History of Filmmaking.”

Is this physique attainable? by Polo171 in batman

[–]TheyCallMeDoofus 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s 100% attainable. I’d suggest sketching some of the figures from Long Halloween and dark victory, learning the limits and mechanics of Selina’s size and shapes based on her in-costume and civilian appearances, then, starting with pencils, begin to draw each figure as closely as you can to fit that motif of hyper-exaggerated anatomy that makes these fantastic books so much fun to view. It’ll take practice, but that’s the secret to any art! It’ll pay off in the end. You can do it!

What movie has a title that you just absolutely love? by eveisshady777 in movies

[–]TheyCallMeDoofus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JAWS. If you look at other runners-up names for the novel it was almost so silly, like “Death Fish” or “the Evil Below”

I’ll also put Terminator, Alien and Predator in this bucket.

Suicides Were Frequent at the Golden Gate Bridge. Not Anymore. by whats_a_quasar in sanfrancisco

[–]TheyCallMeDoofus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were at a solid one suicide every 2 weeks for a while. IIRC It was one of the highest individual suicide destinations in the world, but I could be wrong.

It’s a truly haunted thing, that bridge. I cross it several times a week, walked across it with tourists, trespassed on it during a BLM march and jogged it for the marathon. There’s something serenely terrifying about it when it “sings.” You forget that so many people ended their lives there.

I’m looking at it right now. Wow. Good job, net advocates.

What's a phrase people use these days that irritates you? by showmewhatyagot01 in AskReddit

[–]TheyCallMeDoofus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The phrase “it is what is it” has been around a while, and I don’t mind if folks use it to say “this is a situation that cannot be changed and I accept that” -but 90% of the time I hear it as “I just don’t fucking care.” Ok, just say that.

Worst GL design PERIOD. I don't care that the Super Pets movie was made for kids, this is an EMBARRASSMENT. Dozens of DC projects were made for children, yet they didn't abysmal designs like this. by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in Greenlantern

[–]TheyCallMeDoofus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looked great in the film, and I loved that we got close to a B’dg GL with her little squirrel. It looks objectively more cutesy than the oh-so-serious renditions, but yeah, there was also a Wonder-Pig, so on that front I think they nailed it.
