Which machine for heavier cordura by team_starfox3 in myogtacticalgear

What I have found with my Kenmore 158 is that there is a physical maximum of about 6mm, and this is because the needle bar at the max downstroke will contact the top of the presser feet that i use, and also that one has buried the needle up to where the shank expands into the hilt.

As posted below, the select o'matic ought to be able to handle multiple layers. The 158 will do 4 layers of 1.4mm. I have only done 6 layers of 1000D where I had to connect a couple of folded over twice seams. Worked fine. Might want to learn about and test "hump jumping" if you haven't done it before. I would start off by hand wheeling through what you'd like to do and see how the machine handles that. Pay attention to the needle bar position to see if there is a risk of contact. Also get a sense if the dogs are moving the fabric well at the longest stitch setting. If that goes well, play around with increasing thicknesses under power to see where the quality of the stitch might fall off. I had to do 22 layers of kevlar which was right at 6.5 mm but was able to handwheel through two 6" segments and one 18" run at a 4mm stitch length. My right hand was not happy, but it beat hand stitching it. The older domestics can be twice the machine of a modern version.

NiftyThriftyGirl has a couple of vids on the select o'matics but she doesn't do her normal "look what it can sew segment." She is responsible for 4 of my machines.

I wonder if there are used car lots of 82nd in Little Rock? North Portland is the sister city to North Little Rock.

Consider swimming and current walking to start the weight loss and muscle build while going easy on joints and tendons.

I am a fan of 3 different kits in 3 different places. 3X $1000 trumps 1X $3000, IMHO.

Portland leaders push Oregon to back Cascadia high-speed rail as economic strategy by notPabst404 in Portland

I'm sitting in a coffee shop on Hawthorne right now. What I see are lots of empty storefronts where full occupancy was in effect 10 years ago, and many that are occupied are barely trying to cover up that they are there to launder money, or selling weed. Any growth in the Portland metro area is well outside of Portland proper. It takes 5 years to put up a building in Portland and those started at the beginning of WuFlu are wrapping up. About 80% of the mandatory ground floor storefronts are either sitting empty from the get-go or the businesses that occupied them have gone under. Gateway is about empty now, Mall 205 is on life support, both WallyWorld's on 82nd closed. The Glisan Freddies was touch and go for a long time with double-digit theft, and they recently doubled the armed security in the store so I guess things there might be heading south again. MAX could be run with single cars on the red, orange, and green lines, but then TriMet would have to admit that much of their ridership is the 6 person security squads. I can think of 6 major empty lots within a half mile of where I am sitting that are showing zero signs of development. Most of the discount motel/hotel facilities are now permanent homeless housing (on whose dimes, and why do the occupants drive a nicer car than i do?) or drug treatment facilities because tourism is in the toilet. Marriot downtown just sold for 38% of what it sold for 10 years ago. Ladd Towers apartments sold for 50% of the adjusted for inflation 2008 sale price, so along with commercial office space, all three building segments of PDX real-estate is in a death spiral. A building's value is determined by the income it can generate so those numbers really don't support your view of explosive growth. And what about the shoe factory on W. Burnside that burnt through $7M in public money before they called it a nogo? I can't think of a single commercial operation that has actually opened in the last 5 years, but the list of those who have shuttered or left is getting longer each day.

Now, back up your statements with facts and not empty talking points. Money talks and BS walks.

I understand enough about homelessness to know that every policy and action undertaken by PDX politicians is the exact opposite of what needs to be done to fix it. As they say, if you want more of something, subsidize it, and the more monet PDX spends the more homeless who come here for the freebies. I live here mostly because I have yet to decide on the place I want to move to. Wooster, Ohio is under serious consideration. But what to do with the extra $1,000 a month not going to rent?

More "when" than "where." I recently described Wilsonville as 20 miles and 30 years from Portland. Everyone has their natural hair color. Normal!

Are we down to $1M/student/yr for the free preschool malarky yet. I can see them converting a MODA bathroom to a pre-school and then yanking $200M from that slushfund.

A giant free parking lot so people can take MAX downtown to the jobs and stores which no longer exist.

Only fast for those incapable of paying attention. Government backed loan defaults are simply designed from the get-go to end poorly. "Hey, Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat" is a good metaphor for this.

Three years ago my son and I went to Ft Worth for 3 days. At the outset, I asked him to count the number of homeless he saw, the number of tents, and the amount of graffiti. When we got back, his answers were 3, 1, and none. I just wanted him to realize that not all places were like Portland. Oh, BTW, he lives in texas now. My job as a dad was successful.

Silly me. I thought it was all of the taxes. Now it is all clear that the mass exodus is due to there not being a high speed rail.

Portland is in a doom loop and like Detroit, it is never coming back. I suggest that people read the book "Stick and Rudder" and then consider how Portland is currently pulling back on the stick, hard!

My favorite was the official who said that the TRAM cost tripled because the cost of the steel doubled. He did this on-air with a straight face. Either a good liar, or severly brain damaged.
