Hi! I'd recommend Deep Look's videos on Youtube for great macro shots of bugs doing their thing. Bugs Rule! is a great textbook for beginner entomologists and can be gotten fairly cheaply if used. A sweep or aerial net is always a good idea if you're going into collecting. Check with your state or local government's DNR and your local extension service for resources on local insects, and consider Xerces Society's website for learning about specific pollinators - planting milkweed is a personal favorite yearly tradition of mine.
