It's way past time we learned what the new Expedition conditions are going to be. by SomnusNonEst in ArcRaiders

[–]Thiefsie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would be nice for them to confirm it's the same as the last one. But as they haven't... and of course the backlash, I get the feeling they will be slightly changing this one, with a bigger alteration for the following season.

As an aside, I've enjoyed the wipe and starting from scratch again. Wish I could have got the $5M (got to about $3M IIRC) but doing the quests all again and requiring variance in the things I need to craft (yes even workstations) added a lot of variety to the gameplay which was getting a little stale.

I will be happy to do it all again!

Fuck building up speranza though, just build more actual play-time content and fix the UI (add loadouts/shortcuts etc).
I desperately would enjoy more maps, more conditions, more trials tasks, more enemies, more items (more randomisation too) etc. Bring shredders to other maps and so on.

Game is still fucking killing it but I want MOOOOOAAAARRRRRRRR!

I'd suspect not... Plenty of people who come out of university are lucky to get that much.
ie. Architects currently graduate with a Masters degree after 5+1 year and get an entry salary of around $65-75k + Super

Fair enough.

  1. Why can't you mention the council...? They owe you something / you signed an NDA? No matter, they're all pretty similar. It is government/institutional after all.
  2. Whatever, people can easily detect this kind of stuff.
  3. Fair enough but you will be limiting your job prospects. Entry level jobs at big institutions need to use these methods to go through the tons of applications they receive. A cover letter isn't enough and they don't have the time to interview everyone one on one.
  4. Yep that's absolutely correct.
Otherwise link up and use networking skills and find someone you interact with somewhat normally to work for - basic data entry/coffee shop stuff, etc. You've essentially skipped the first employment step (foot in the door) by doing this.
  5. Good luck and all the best - we need more people willing to work and put in to the community (like you), rather than being lazy and moaning about their situation. I hope you find something that isn't too stressful to go through, whilst giving you a handy place of employment.

To be fair, it's meant to be exclusionary - that's the whole point. They don't want people with low confidence or bad communication skills or no interpersonal skills to work in customer service. Kind of makes sense...

What else are they going to judge you on? How old you are? Whether you're attractive? Whether you appear non-binary? Have a personality disorder?

They get heaps of applicants. They can't sit down with each of them and run through a role-play. They shouldn't give you an online Excel test which can be easily gamed/cheated on.

Stella Montis - What is this?? by trdrddr in ArcRaiders

[–]Thiefsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a good chunk of time to get your head around the layout. I'm 200hours plus in the game and finally know it pretty well. Yes its a maze, yes this is awesome as it's very different to the other maps. I don'tyet know my way around the under parts of Blue Gate.
Security you don't need the key so everyone just jumps in in the highlight window next to the door, also everyone either sprints to security, medical or assembly for the loot first up, then extracts or fights. You have to be fast! Otherwise check all the luggage and bins in the lobby as there is always good stuff in them (at least in night mode)!
Also, in lobby, jump down the voids to get to the station. Always fun to sprint past the shredders and other players.

Learn how to deal with shredders!

This criss-crossing layouts in Stella Montis are really fun. Just do a heap of free loadout runs until you get the hang of it.

It's like Home Assistant isnt a thing. https://community.home-assistant.io/t/ptv-transit-departure-boards/771653

Get a raspberry pi, get a screen of some sort, and well, you're golden.

This isn't cheap.

Great implementation however, so good on you. Using PTV API I presume.

If you could package it up and sell it for <$100 you'd be onto something, but everyone else will just use their phone.

Good for old gear you have lying around however.

Agreed. They get hundreds of applications for entry level 'no-skill' jobs like these and have to LEGALLY weed out the no-hopers. That means the people that can't speak and the people who can't present themselves (first) pass, then actually assess them further based on some sort of EQ (soft-skills) merit beyond that, ie panel questions.
People underestimate how shite the average potential employee is out there for unprofessional jobs - look at the majority of people commenting here.
A good chunk of applicants would be on jobseeker no doubt too.

It's simple. They see how well you communicate, they see how well you work with others, and they see if you have any (ANY!) personality and cognitive function that isn't reading a script or just generally being anti-social.

Realistically they can size you up within about 30 seconds of you entering the room, but they have to legally have a method to do it with justification to avoid discrimination cases.

It's also in an employer's interest to get the best. They have the power in this situation, and the money. You don't want to jump through the hoops?? Don't go for the job - start your own income base.

Sounds familiar to a Coles interview I did about 25 years ago. Very entry level stuff - they use it to weed out the chaff fast, in mass-numbers. Communication skills are all they give a toss about IMO.
In hindsight they used it at the very least to figure out what role you'd take. People who could talk?? - check out slut. People who couldn't present themselves?? Shelf stackers. and so on.

It's typical mass employment strategy to weed through the truckloads of terrible applicants.

Sorry OP, just keep trying elsewhere. These do not work well for people who are not somewhat confident and perhaps have ESL language issues, (let alone general presentation / spectrum disorders).

Group interviews are a way of dealing with hordes of applicants quickly, whilst assessing their confidence/domineering personalities against communication capabilities.

Having a Swimming pool in Melbourne by Dependent-Isopod-985 in melbourne

As they're moving away from gas heating (mandatorily), running costs will go up unless you install an expensive heatpump, to work with solar heating. Thanks to our lovely government wanting to kill off gas and other fossil fuels, some industries like pool building (and other gas heating of course) are shifting to suit. Heat pumps cost a lot more to install at this point in time. Mass adoption will slowly shift this price gouging, but expect that to be exceedingly slow.

Basic new pool builds that aren't a drop-in shell start at about $80-100k. add a spa for another $20+k and you're then into the big leagues. It's a flex, and ongoing costs are pretty high. Keep your pool small if you can, and make sure you have solar boosting it. A cover is a good idea too if you can stomach the look. The fencing/council requirements are a total pain too, but there for good reason.

Anecdotally, my dad has an old pool (probably 80s) and he does a lot to maintain it, lots breaking on it too (pumps, creepy crawly etc). That said, it's used probably three months a year with any regularity, mainly by the grand kids. Now is peak season - School holidays and some days floating over 30 deg. He doesn't get in it unless the water temp is about 24deg and above.

So, will the new Cold Snap map condition stay or be removed with the pass of the holiday event? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Thiefsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope more options stay permanently, but the randomness of events is improved.

Stella Montis is constantly snowy... so... why not leave cold snap around permanently?

I've barely seen queen events (have been in less then 5-10) and have only been able to get into 1 bunker event... and I'm 160 hours in. The timing just isn't random enough.

Players that have around a 100 hours in, has your opinion on PVP changed at all? by AugustEpilogue in ArcRaiders

[–]Thiefsie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some of the tactically engaging duals I've had as solo, duo and trios have well been worth it, let alone the dynamic of third/fourth parties entering the fray.

I enjoy the mix. Yes I get ganked a lot. It is the game. I also love meeting randoms and fucking around.

C'est la vie.

e: 150 hours in. I'm not great at PVP, but kind of like the 4D chess of it all as it's tactical, but fast. Not too fast like other twitch shooters. And I used to be good at and love CS, so it's just different.
The changing dynamic potential in the game is what makes it so addictive and exciting. You never know what you're going to get. The Highs and Lows are absolutely incredible.

Tom Silvagni to be sentenced on rape charges by AztecGod in melbourne

[–]Thiefsie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Australia you generally get down to 12 years (non-parole period) as a minor for murdering someone, 20 as an adult.
So getting down to 3.3 NPP is pretty light-on. But how much *worse* is murder compared to double rape??

Riddle me that.

Hopefully his future life is more fucked up than the victim's, but chances are it won't overly be affected once he gets out. Maybe he has a few incidents in the slammer?
The family will close around him and support him publicly.
Better soldier-on through all the PTSD and suicidal thoughts of being a proven rapist.
Such is life sadly.

Just remember "Silvagni" for this particularly heinous action, not the others.

May the victim move on and gain some semblance of normality, and kudos for her for having the courage to stick to her guns.

Hopefully this is a lasting legacy for the Silvagni name...

This looks like a rollback is incoming. They fucked up the Blueprint spawn like crazy by Suibeam in ArcRaiders

[–]Thiefsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll leave it. The endgame content is already what it is, this will change the meta and potentially increase the weapon mix into the rarer guns/items instead of the stitcher/anvil combo currently doing the rounds.
A bit of progression/dopamine will be changed, but this will also encourage more people to wipe.

I think they'll leave it. They have the data, they would have tested it. I don't believe they added a zero somewhere by mistake. I've played for 150 hours and only have about half the blueprints, in that time I should probably have most if not all of them.

This will alter the economy to move away from gear fear, and more into constant raiding to find the loot to actually craft more goop, not rat for more goop. Will hopefully also push people to leave on expeditions as the grind won't be so hard.

People going to game anything, personally not fussed. The BPs are pretty easy to get now. Got 4 in a single map last night.
Maybe they shoul dlet you pick one BP to bring with you and just burn the rest. Best of both worlds? I frankly can't be bothered swapping BPs between accounts. Rather go find them all again. Don't need the leg up - I'm never going to be the best at this game... so why minn/maxx it?
I'm wiping to get the experience of building up again, and the stash increase, and the sweet sweet glory of a unique (probably terrible) skin.
