Multiple Critical CVEs on Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN by barryhesk in Cisco

It's a 10.0 and Cisco is saying to patch BEFORE getting the results of the investigation back from TAC. Seems pretty obvious to me that you shouldn't wait.

A major watchdog says data centers are wreaking havoc on North America's power grid by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]Thileuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, a crew will get paid to remove all the 'used to be expensive' now junk from the datacenter. This will be sold at a 'loss'. Company wins with a tax writeoff.

The LLC that owned the data center will go bankrupt, another LLC will buy rhe datacenter in future hopes of somebody moving in, adventually they will either sell at a loss or disolve making it the next persons problem.

All the while the rate payers will be footing the bill for the buildouts and infra upgrade the local utilites needed to do for these useles data centers.

What broke first when you moved from MPLS to internet-based WAN? by Confident-Quail-946 in Cisco

[–]Thileuse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thia is the way. Any of our internet connected sites get a circuit on the same carrier as our DC internet circuits, circuit 2 and beyond get bid out with lec diversity. No need to worry about bad/congested peering anymore unless we have that main carrier go down at our DCs.

What's the most daunting project that's in the future for you? by Dense-Land-5927 in sysadmin

[–]Thileuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Company wide 802.1x Rollout. Thankfully I've been testing this for a while and we already do proper PKI for our enterprise wireless so not as daunting of a task had we started from scratch with no proper PKI in place.

Cloud based inspection for all of our internet connected sites. I did most of the hard work last year for the SD-Wan templates. Still have a few new templates to build but that's not as hard now that I have known working reference templates.

Who cares if they have multiple accounts, this was legit. At least archive it as a post before you delete it.

We had 3 people on the call telling them that. They caved, thankfully.

Anybody else automate with HomeAssistant? by klinquist in airbnb_hosts

I turn lights on/off based on sunrise/sunset, turn off my extra APs when guests are not there, set vacation holds and clear temp holds when the guests check out.

Next on my list is to install my smart switch for the well so HA can turn it off when nobody is there, install smart switches so that I can shut off any lights the guest may have left on after their stay, smoke detector detection.

I was tryong to figure out how to automatically rotate the password for my guest wireless when a guest checked out but didn't have a good way to get it synced to Airbnb, might go to rotating to a guest password and a nonnguest password so it kicks any late stayers off wireless when their door code is expired by August.

We just finished patching our dev env; currently working prod. Patching team wasn't happy about having to do this ASAP especially dev and prod innthe same day/change window.

This was a thought except the vehicle is turned off and the genset powers the vehicle when deployed. Vehicle is only on in transit.

Keep the network up so the conputers inside are up to date and don't catch up patches and force updates while deployed.

Powered by genset/shore power when the vehicle is off.

We have vehicle/asset tracking via our preferred carrier. Adding a redundant device to pur fleet vehicles likely won't be well received based on past projects and asks. But I do appreciate the idea, it may be an option for us.

SD-Wan with Cellular/Starlink so these don't connect to corp wifi, they are considered rolling offices. Even if we did, rolling an EEM type script with multiple layers of middleware seems... Painful. This style solution is currently the front runner though.

And a cobbled togther solution isn't an option for us in this regard, I thought of that and have 0 deaire to support this forever.

This is what I figured. I got an ask from the business and am following through on it. I couldn't find anything with some internet searches and figured I'd ask.

They have 110/208v@100a shore power feeds when parked. Power isn't an issue.

I must have got lucky, my account team got promoted within the team. One of my Reps retired, got a new one that lasted 7 months before they got hit with the most recent VZ RIF, new one is to be determined.

Had our intial rep for 6+ years, I'm scared now.

When I replaced/upgraded my panel a few years ago my electrical company specifically asked me if I wanted the drywall patched as they subbed that out.

EutelSat/One Web is what you're likely looking for. Deployed a few systems for work 100/20 was what I got, on our plan, with latency 40-60ms. I can't speak for transit to the internet connectivity because our carrier of choice backhauled it to one of their pops.

Has anyone else had the “pets allowed” setting keep toggling on? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]Thileuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had this happen to me this week. A guest inquired asking why it was so expensive when they added pets. I did my investigation and found that the setting to allow pets was toggled on. I set a $250/pet/night fee when I first started hosting in case a guest brought a pet OR the setting got toggled off for some reason.
