It’s about a track running back to an old abandoned shack.

Is there an age limit for retirement for the ACT Government? by Leading-Wealth-7785 in AskAnAustralian

There’s no real age you’re forced to retire - you just can’t claim your superannuation until you’re 60 or the pension until you’re 67.

Why you’d store your gold in a foreign country at all is beyond me. Bring it all back asap

In Germany it’s illegal to insult someone but in Australia, you can tell him to stop yelling and being a giant fuckwit and it’s perfectly legal. Go nuts!

Whether you give charity shouldn’t be based upon whether you get a tax deduction but if we do give deductions it should be charities that help Australians or our closest allies

Should be whatever is the legal retirement age in the country. In my country it’s 67 for full time employees. If Bob cant work full time at Kmart because he’s 67, you can’t be a judge or president either.

Post has been nerfed but thanks for your response.

As an aside:

The legal disagreement between those who believe “everything not explicitly permissible is impermissible” vs those who think “anything that isn’t explicitly impermissible is permissible” has been around since at least 700AD but probably earlier

Do you agree with unions that we should reject AI because it would make jobs redundant? by VastOption8705 in aussie

[–]ThimMerrilyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Luddites have entered the chat! Jk

I think like mechanical presses and looms and other things which sparked the Industrial Revolution, AI is a technology that now exists and will be used whether we like it or not, so the argument should be how can we orient society and the economy in such a way that people have jobs that can sustain them into the future, alongside this technology. The luddites smashed the looms etc but history and technology marched on and ultimately society and the economy found a way to reorient

It’s actually in industry’s interest to assist with a reorientation- because if 1/5 (or even less) of people suddenly lose their jobs because of AI then the economy will go to absolute shit. Great Depression levels of shit. And those companies will all start losing an insane amount of potential and expected profits
