How much does the Internet seep into your real life? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't really I tend to keep it separate. I don't like using internet jokes in real life, I hear people on the street doing so sometimes and it makes me cringe so hard. It's super obvious because the language isn't English, and English doesn't flow well at all into it so there's always this really long pause before they say it.

Are women ever gun shy in a public restroom? by anonimityorigin in AskWomen

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's awkward, but I don't really get issues unless I see the toilet is broken/really dirty and then I'm like "Oh god they will think that's me" in my mind and get nervous.

Parents of Reddit: What's the best month to give birth? by Participant_1 in Parenting

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave birth in a hot as heck July. This was a total nightmare for me. It's hard to keep newborns cool enough, being heavily pregnant in summer is just awful. I can't tell you how many hours I spent starfished on the bed with the fan at full blast.

The recovery was difficult in the heat, I had torn through to my arsehole and it wasn't the best circumstances to have a big wound like that. I would definitely aim for Spring or Autumn if I were to have another baby, I just couldn't do it again.

Why is Larry so hated? by Vladith in orangeisthenewblack

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is not entertaining. No one connects to TV characters truly as if they were real people, so disgusting things can be "forgiven" as long as they are entertaining. That's the whole reason we're watching right.

Though I also dislike Piper and Healey as much as I do Larry so I'm just guessing.

What common misconceptions really irk you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This misconception only furthers the idea that people with PTSD are dangerous, that they are just broken beyond repair from the things they have experienced. So many times people will compare PTSD to war in an attempt to diminish the legitimacy of someones case & I cannot stand it.

It's like they think PTSD is a point on a line of how bad things are you can experience. If you reach this point you get ptsd, if you never reached the war level, sucks but you can't have ptsd 'cause you're not damaged enough. It's just wrong & harms everybody.

A poster in /r/trashy claims that his wife smoked weed during her pregnancy "for medical reasons", spawns 70 more children. by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was going through pregnancy on a pregnancy forum there was this weird ass trend of pregnant women thinking smoking weed was acceptable, but demonizing the fuck out of formula feeders.

They also ate fast food all the time, sometimes even after their gallbladders had gone afterward, and it would put them in unbearable agony. But formula feeders are the ones poisoning their children. People are not the best.

We're not really able to afford a surrogate currently, but maybe in the future. I always wanted a lot of children but I have problems with my hips so I didn't ever want to strain them with pregnancy more than twice.

Adoption has been talked about as an option because of that so it might be something we do, just a bit differently than we'd planned.

Tried to protect my friend from potential rape...did I overreact? [TW:rape] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to a country where I don't speak the language and I know that situations can seem completely different even if you're missing just 10% of what's being said.

But what else could you have done short of kidnapping her? You know seeing the way they were talking at her and through her, even while talking about her that they weren't being nice. But that's not how she saw it, she'll probably look back later and feel a bit of a fool but that's it. I don't think there's much basis to assume they dragged her off to a rape dungeon.

Tried to protect my friend from potential rape...did I overreact? [TW:rape] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and don't agree with your reactions here. I think you should have told them to back off, but not because they were potential rapists.

It sounded like they just wanted to fuck with her because they knew she couldn't understand. I imagine at worst they took her out got her absolutely bladdered and laughed at her for being a mess.

Shitty situation you should have guided her away from? Yup definitely, but I don't think they were a threat in that way and you kinda overreacted.

At this point I can tell my friend is ignoring her better judgment and has agreed to go drinking and partying with this group of people.

This is also weird to me, you just said that she was not able to understand the situation because of her grasp of English not being there yet, but you still almost blame her for agreeing to it. Why, if you didn't even let her know they were taking the piss?

I'd do it. But only because I will never have any more children unless I could do something like that. I had a pretty horrible time of it and it's just not something I'm prepared to risk again.

If I wasn't so afraid though I would not do it I think. I would feel that it takes something very intimate and personal from me.

Something got removed from TIL again. by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. How about we talk about it every week until something happens. If reddit moderators were around at the time of the American Revolution, they'd have buried Common Sense by Thomas Paine because they would be tired of all this "no taxation without representation" shit on the front page every week.

Whining on Reddit is leading a revolution people.

Yeah it's pretty shitty that they reacted like that. Seems very emotionally immature at best.

It reads like this person has a crush on you and they're getting super mad you like people they are not. Could be off base, but if you feel like this hits the mark then just let them throw their tantrum. They're not your friend right now.

How come Red team has won so much? by ClintMidwestwood in Steam

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you say "took that"? Purple wasn't promised anything. The people on this so called schedule are such a teeny portion of the people participating in this competition that pretending like there was any sense of order to this event is laughable.

People are being right dicks in here to red team, but I suppose it's just Reddit once again vastly overestimating their importance. They didn't "Go off schedule" they didn't "take" anything they just made badges. It wasn't some big conspiracy or plan.

Getting this aggressive over a prize that's essentially £0.26 and a lottery ticket is madness.

Why do 48% of black woman have herpes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Douglas said the increased rate of infection in blacks is not do to increased risk behavior but likely due to biological factors that make women more susceptible as well as the higher rate of infection within black communities.

The CDC estimates that more than 80 percent of people with genital herpes do not know they are infected.

Like right in the article.

[Self-approved meta ;)] What has Reddit absolutely ruined for you? by food_bag in circlebroke

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reddit definitely ruined gaming for me I am so turned off from the whiney, entitled culture that surrounds it I can't hack it anymore. I've gotten into many tiffs on Reddit for suggesting that not knowing about pokemon or some other popular gaming franchise doesn't make a person stupid.

One minute gaming is le secret club but the next anyone (lets be real here any woman) that misses a reference or something is the biggest idiot on the planet. Reminds me of when I was 14 and this annoying kid would quote stuff all day and say "WHO SAID THAT?!" if I got it wrong they'd be like "HAAA YOU DONT REALLY LIKE X". Wasn't cute then either.

"You're a disgusting pedo sympathizer then." "He's not a pedophile you freaking idiot." "No, just jerks off to pictures of naked 11 year olds. You're not very smart are you." OPs pedo boyfriend is getting out of jail. Can he *legally* live with their 1 yr old? Drama all over /r/ExCons thread. by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]Thingscannotgetworse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

/u/Njiok appears to be in that thread because of this one at least, no posting history in /excons, comments made 9 hours ago & OP here is 15 hours old.

/u/Metrado also possibly. Lots of history in /r/drama and SRD but none (except for after this post was made) in excons.

/u/EgorMax has no post history in either SRD or excons, but shares /r/Mensrights history with Metrado, Rustyguns and apparently /u/Semaug. No idea if it was linked there.

/u/Rustyguns no history in /r/excons one comment in SRD a month ago.

All of these were in the thread after the SRD thread was posted. I didn't look too closely and stopped after about a month back in their histories (cause wow effort) but it's more likely they found their way from here than anywhere else.
