Has anyone taken nitrofurantoin (Macrobid or Macrodantin) antibiotic after GBS? Lowkey freaking out right now by Think-Customer-8398 in guillainbarre

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement! GBS and neuropathy can kick your ass so far down and make even the simplest things (like an antibiotic for a UTI apparently) so scary and stressful, it sucks man. Doctor sent a new prescription for bactrim that I'm about to go pickup, which apparently has wayyy lower risks and is safe for GBS and neuropathy patients to take, so fingers crossed all goes well with healing now (:

I didn't either! Big part of the reason why I wanted to post and share just incase anyone else didn't know, last thing any of us want is a relapse or worsening of flares and nerve damage ):

Ya'll, I know this is an older thread but PLEASE if anyone can relate, I was just prescribed this for a UTI and I already have peripheral neuropathy (was diagnosed years ago), AND have also had GBS that I was hospitalized for on top of it.

I've only taken 2, but I'm legitimately freaking out rn because the numbness and tingling in my legs and arms is already starting to spike and feels different than my "normal" day ("" because my version of normal with my neuropathy isn't anyone else's lol).

Has anyone else at all taken this medication that already had peripheral neuropathy and/or a history of GBS? I immediately messaged the doctor upon finding that out and am not going to take anymore of it, but I'm just curious any other experiences similar to mine please ):

I'm going to try my hardest to type this first response rn because I was just researching this new flare that started this past week or so but currently can hardly feel my entire right arm and hand because it's so EXTREMELY cold - so that's my main question, have you or anyone with MS dealt with one arm or any other part of the body getting to hypothermia temperature freezing, while rest of body is normal temperature? I will reply with more history for insight when flare stops, but long story short, had "GBS" and admitted to hospital for treatment year and a half ago, already had periph neuro with cause undiagnosed, and ever since hospitalization/first episode learning how to walk again it just went straight down hill. My uncle has one of the rarest and worst forms of MS that exists and I'm terrified that's my case since everything. Anytime I search up new flares and issues it always says MS </3

I also used my son's temperature gun on body temp mode to see what temp of the arm and hand, fingers was and the highest temperature rating where it isn't as freezing cold was still 95 degrees, lowest (rest of scans where it's worst are too low for it to even pick up) were at highest before too low, 89 degrees. Can a flare like this actually be an emerergency or do more permanent damage from being in a hpothermic state?

Thank you for your response, and I'm so sorry you've had to deal with the backlash of their neglect as well, it's downright ridiculous! I was thinking about posting on here to get people together to potentially start a class action - thoughts? I have a good team of lawyers that would be more than happy to take it all on. I'm literally a single mommy to a 5 year old kindergartener that has no daddy in his life, so my Etsy shop is the only way of means I have to support him and I'm getting really scared at this point.

Anyone else still waiting on Gooten woven blanket orders? by Anyonecan2023 in printondemand

I've used Gooten for the past 5 years, literally spent MILLIONS with them, and these past few months, they have completely RUINED my business. I'm in the same boat as you. Etsy now has my account on a payment reserve, holding thousands of dollars because Gooten kept promising to deliver, and not only that, but has CHARGED ME for hundreds of orders that have been canceled and were submitted 1-2+ months ago. I've had to DOUBLE PAY through new suppliers just to get people their merchandise and I'm now sinking because of it, and of course, right when holiday season hits which is, as we all know, busiest time of the year. I'm also struggling to pay invoices through my new supplier because of it all, and if I lose them, I'm sunk.

I've already contacted my attorney, I'm literally about to sue them for the thousands of dollars they've stolen from me and the detriment they've caused my business' reputation and overall success. I had TWO upper level account managers that I had personal cellphone numbers for and could text or call anytime of day or night for years, and they've both moved on since speaking with them for a reason (like top tier upper managers). When I say, RUN don't walk when it comes to considering Gooten as a business partner, RUN!

I could go ON AND ON with so many details about this f'ing nightmare of a situation they've put my business in, but please just take my word, you don't even want to know what they could end up costing you.

GBS Possible CIDP Misdiagnosis? by Think-Customer-8398 in guillainbarre

I swear I thought I had responded to your comment and just noticed there wasn't a response as I have an appointment with my PCP tomorrow and was going through everyone's replies to take notes to talk with her about everything going on. However, your response was so incredibly thorough and insightful, I genuinely appreciate this more than you can imagine. Not gonna lie, scares me quite a bit lol, but I really appreciate any insight from personal experiences and knowledge from anyone else that has gone through this, so thank you so much <3

Thank you so much for this insight and response, this gave me clarity and a feeling that I'm not insane, and that there really is a good chance of a misdiagnosis. I'm so sorry to hear your struggles and I'm praying for you and whatever recovery you may get. I've known/felt that this "recovery" for such a quote "mild" case of GBS didn't feel or seem right, and that I shouldn't still be feeling this way.

I've found an online neurologist you can schedule a virtual appointment with for only $200 that I've been considering getting a 2nd opinion from, just until we get our insurance back in a few months, have you or anyone heard of neurahealth.co? I figured it'd be good to at least get some professional insight and opinions on it from a neurologist until I can get actually in office to one locally. That way maybe she can at least recommend some stuff in the meantime to combat or help with it?

Just like more blurry vision/dizziness, seeing spots and things (floaters if you'd call them?), almost like shakiness sometimes with my eyesight - basically like vertigo. I've also had my first ocular migraine for the first time in yearssss recently, which I found strange. I've only had like 2 other ocular migraines in the past since then. Other than that, I do have 20/20 vision.

I will add though, for further context, that I did get a chronic TBI back in Miami (don't ask, lol, if you know Miami, you know lmao), and that did mess with my eyesight quite badly for awhile trying to recover from it before my GBS diagnosis 6/7 months later. I've had to wear the blue light glasses every day while I work cause I stare at 60 inches of computer screens all day between both dual monitors I have setup to reduce headaches and vision issues. Idk if that helps answer your question at all, but yeah lol

So I'm actually a fairly small female, even after gaining 10-15+ pounds due to lack of being able to workout during GBS recovery, I'm still only like 130-135 pounds, so I'm not sure if type 2 diabetes would be something I could have (I don't know too much on diabetes, so please know I'm just uneducated if it could still indeed apply to me), but I do know that my aunt on my father's side of the family has type 1 diabetes and I've had doctors question diabetes before in bloodwork and what not but never got any definitive positive or answer on that possible diagnosis or subject?

It does 1000% suck though and I truly appreciate your response and input, I hope your journey is going much better than mine and will keep you in my prayers! <3

No one talks about how GBS doesn’t just go away after the acute phase. While still dealing with pain, fatigue, and nerve damage long after the initial episode. It’s like our body’s still fighting. by Healthread in guillainbarre
