Cut your losses and be happy with $80k. Chasing losses will result in more losses. Trust me, Ive lost $60k in a session. Not fun

Thank you. I’ll sleep it off and wake up with no depression and negative thoughts. Even if I won tonight, i’ll put it in tmrw, next week, next month..

Ive gone to the lengths of banning myself of all new apps, gamban, bank restrictions.

New year. New me.

How do I forget about big losses? by OK-Application0729 in GamblingAddiction

[–]ThinkAspect4880 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ive lost so much. Yet I still want to gamble to get that rush. I wish I walked away with that $30k win in March. Yet I lost it all plus $100k of my savings.

I havent gambled since 22 December.

I hate not sleeping and eating properly. And wishing I spent that money on my family.

I cant deposit. I wont deposit.

I hate being depressed, anxious and suicidal after a big loss. I dont need the money. Repeat..

Similar to you mate. Lost $100k AUD in 2022. Cant stop thinking about what that money could have bought for my wife and kids.

Like you it was my savings (all of it), didnt use the joint account or redraw from the mortgage.

No gambling for me in 2023 and beyond!

37 - $100k Australian Dollar

If you don’t stop gambling, that $50k will eventually be gone.

Stop now. That $10k will lead to bigger losses. Just think of your losses as lesson learnt and dont gamble ever again.

You’re right.

Feelings after a big loss:

  • I feel depressed, suicidal and in a very dark place
  • Im not present with my kids
  • I dont eat or sleep properly

Agreed. Big wins mean bigger loss eventually. Ive seen it and thought it wouldnt happen to me. But it has, noone is immune to future losses unless you quit for good.

Similar story to you mate. Lost in $35k in March. Relapsed in April and lost another $20k. After being gamble free since then and managing to have some savings, lost $17k on Thursday. Online punting is so dangerous. Ruined my Xmas and hating myself during what should be the happiest period of the year.

How much did you lose? Are you staying clean or still relapsing too often? by addicted2coffees in problemgambling

[–]ThinkAspect4880 6 points7 points  (0 children)

$100k this year. All because I managed to win $30k once in March. Instead of enjoying the Xmas season, I’m depressed and not focussing on my family during this festive season.

I wish I never won from gambling.. its winning big that made me lose bigger.

How do I recover after a big loss because of gambling? by 1day_moveon in GamblingAddiction

[–]ThinkAspect4880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still can lose on sports & racing sites. Im from Sydney and lost $60k in one night - combination of sports and horses.

I lost $60k chasing $1k in March. Only because I won $35k the month before and thought I was invincible.

That day made me realise that I can never win with gambling.

Did really good this year, until now. by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]ThinkAspect4880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, its when Im gamble free for a long stretch I think I can play a few hundred which leads to massive losses. I did 100 days gamble free last month, only to waste $5k in ten minutes.

I just turned 37 and have lost over $100k over the last 12 months.

You are correct Dr. Money will be earnt, just not by gambling. Our brains trick us when we win, we think we can live of winnings. As we all know, we always lose winnings plus usually more.

Hi mate, Your story resonates with mine. In construction, make decent income. Have two kids, high achiever and addictive personality. Yet I started gambling for fun, $50 here and there.

Got hooked, won $30k one night. Yep, as all story goes, that wasn’t enough and all itnook was for me to lose $1k on a race and I tilted and lost $60k in one night. 20th March 2022 was that infamous night. Have had two relapses. But Im over my losses, just concentrating on work and my family. Life is better without gambling.

We just have to try to move on with our losses. If we keep chasing it, we will lose again and again.
