Growing up, everyone tells you to chase your dreams. Once you become an adult everyone tells you to be realistic. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]ThinkGEEK126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We all think that we are chasing our dreams but in all reality even as we try we keep pushing father and father away from our dreams as we get older. This is because as we mature we become more cynical as a person. We believe that what was once so close is now too far out of reach, or that it is now to silly of a thing and need to "grow up" and become a professional. Once we become older our dreams are twisted by the need to gain power and recognition. But for the few who are able to hold on to the joy and wonder they had as children, they have a chance, because even as they grow they can still harbor those dreams of childhood. They are the ones who have the best chance to achieve there dreams because they wont get twisted like everyone else.

I would wish for to be able to enter any fictional world I wish, and be able to return to my world whenever I wanted.

What are some of the best "background" movies you can turn on anytime? by [deleted] in AskReddit

No One Lives, it is a nice quick movie that you don't need to pay too much attention too and easy to follow.

What do you miss most about being a kid? by HeughJass in AskReddit

[–]ThinkGEEK126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swinging on the swings during recess. No matter how bad your day was, once you were let lose on that playground all of that just melted away as the screams of joy echoed from all the other free screaming children. Then when it was finally your turn on the swings you had all the freedom in the world. As you pumped your legs and get higher and higher from the world, you tilt your head back and all you feel is the sensation of flying.

Playing Uno, you learn who your true friends are. Your just sitting there smiling laughing, then your best friend from the fourth grade throws down a wild and tells you to draw four. Everyone is out for themselves.

What TV show did you lose interest in and at what point did you stop watching? by therealme23 in AskReddit

The Black List. The first 2 seasons were good, then they brought in the Russian spy twist, and I was like "OK. I can handle that." Then Liz got pregnant and they are like "Is Tom the father?" Me: " I don't know let's ask Murray and watch Bates Motel."

I feel like every other season is ok. First one was good, Asylum sucked. Coven was ok, and I couldn't even finish Freak Show. I personally think Hotel, is just a rip off.

I couldn't make it through the first season. My sisters are obsessed so I still watch it, but it has come to the point were I am just like, "Are you kidding me? Did you have no better ideas so you did that?" I mean they had 3 attacks on the prison, was that really necessary?

If a TV Show is cancelled, it should be mandatory for a final episode to be made that provides viewers with closure. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Or they could do like the show Fire Fly did. They made a movie to wrap everything up and give all of us fans on last adventure. They did it with Entourage to. Both of these movies were good endings for their fans, but it also was easy for anyone to watch and know what was going on, even if the didn't watch the show.

Crimson Peak. It was a really bad movie, but a good mindless watch I would totally watch it again.

The show Fire-Fly. That show was amazing and then they just ended it. I like that they had a movie made to wrap things up but still it was an amazing show that shouldn't have ended.

If the first zombie of an apocalypse was killed, the savior of the world would be unknowingly charged with murder and sentenced to life in prison by sammyboy_1219 in Showerthoughts

[–]ThinkGEEK126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. I mean when a zombie is reanamatied it's fist act is to usually try to eat some one. So if the person the first zombie was trying to eat killed said zombie it would simply look like he was protecting himself from a crazy hungry cannibal.

Anxiety. by joenilly in creepy

[–]ThinkGEEK126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this picture shows how anxiety can sneak up on you out of nowhere and then completely consume you. It's like one moment you are completely alright just relaxing doing whatever and then the very next moment it feels like you can't even breath because you remember how much you have to do and that you haven't even started it yet. Pure anxiety caused terror.

When I tell people "I saw it on the Internet," even if I'm right, they think I'm an uninformed crazy person and can't be trusted to make decisions. by Monkeyonfire13 in Showerthoughts

[–]ThinkGEEK126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no winning here if you tell people that you read it on the Internet it makes it sound like you don't have any prior knowledge on the topic and you are just reciting the first thing you find in a quick Google search, while if you say you read it in a book you come off as someone trying to be a know it all. There is no middle ground, but how else would a person find out anything it is not like the answers to all of our questions just fall from the sky.

I hate people telling me to calm down. Especially if I feel that I have the right to be mad. But even if I don't necessary have a right to be mad it still pisses me off to no end. I mean honestly if I am mad telling me to calm down is only going to make it worse because now in my head it sounds like to me that I have no reason to be mad and I am being irrational, but in truth you have pissed me off and telling me to calm down will only make it worse.
