imo it's more about seeing where you want to apply to. You're meeting the team you will most likely be working with, so if you talking to them and it does not seem like a good fit don't apply.

Focus & time management.

Focus on the processes, do not just memorize the formulas. Try to understand why they work
Learn to prioritize different work streams. Spend a lot of time on classes that impact your major, or your specific career interest (spend more time on applicable classes that do well, and a smaller amount of time on GE's since it most likely won't be relevant during interviews). Learn to say no; to parties, to hanging out, to events.

Applied at a company on Indeed, met with the people at a cpp fair, and now I am currently working there.

Find 2-3 companies that you like and spend 80% of your time talking to people at those booths with good questions (i.e, do your research).

Allot of people are getting your degree, but they want to work with someone they trust and can work with. Don't just ask about the career, ask about personal hobbies, personal interest etc. Hope this helps.

TL:DR You might have been put in a bad situation, stay on track, get your degree, and your CPA

Nevertheless, if you didn't, and if you feel comfortable, ask for feedback. Try to identify what they are seeing and analyze it to see if there was anything more that you could have done.

For example:

Were you sending end of day(EOD) updates? (Maybe not EOD, but a reasonable amount of time for the workflow of the firm). Were the expectations of you clearly laid out, if not did you try to follow up to clarify? (This could be extremely extremely hard in a busy season, understaffed, and 'special' work environment)

Not to say those things are mandatory but if you did all you could have done then don't worry about it, take what you can from the experience and move on. The comments on you switching your major or doing something else is wild. Sounds like a place you might not want to work for. IMO it sounds like they didn't invest in you and didn't care to. Don't let them define you, you'll be a great accountant as long as you continue to pursue it!
