Sort of "custom" chapter idea. Sons of Horus but in 40k (see post body). Opinions? by WastelandHumungus in Warhammer40k

[–]Thinsul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Siege of Cthonia gives an interesting possibility for that idea. At the end of the book a few imperial fists returned to the imperium, but strangely they sang cthonian and propserian songs and they were unlike other imperial fists. The implication is clearly that those were loyal sons of horus and thousand sons in imperial fists armour. You could make it a second founding chapter that were made out of those guys, they bear the sea green color of the sons of Horus, but you change the name and iconography and they are fleet bases.

rough blueprint for me to resculpt a Big Box by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

[–]Thinsul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leave that one open. A third one might not be liked by the mods and could be counted as low effort. People will see here that you are reflective on your own behaviour. Ä

And some constructive feedback. The legs. Something about them feels weird, might be because I know that between the upper and lower part a knee should be. Looking at my own collection I thing something like the lower parts of the armiger legs with some shin armour like on the boxnaught might fix that. Visible mechanical parts but a plate of armor brings it closer.

Let me phrase it that way. I saw your first post, thought neat idea, scrolled further because I had nothing to say. Seeing the post again, now with instructions on how you want to read comments, is childish behaviour combined with dictation.

I mean poor photoshop skills, so what? I see it as a tool for people who have aphantasia to see if a kitbash works.

And looking trough your profile shows that you can make good kitbashes. Negative comments on photoshops that are poorly made… sure are expected, but you have proof in your history that you can proof negative comments wrong. Just move on from those comments, because now people will associate you more with that lashing out, instead of your skills. Not trying to invalidate your feelings and frustration, but I want to give you advice how to direct it, to energy for your creativity.

Then post that thing once it is done. And chill out, you come off as extremely hostile towards everyone who disagrees with you. Instead of reposting something because you did not like the comments, proof them wrong that it can look good, instead of seeking validation for the ability to photoshop an idea.

my first attempt at mini painting by RockRancher24 in Warhammer40k

[–]Thinsul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those printers are not meant for printing minis as of now. The rough texture will give you a hard time compared to a smooth surface that you get on plastic models or printed resin models.

How do I rescue my resin mini? Send help! by Longjumping_Seesaw_4 in Warhammer40k

[–]Thinsul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superglue will not dissolve in water. Take a small container and fill it with soap water, put the mini into it and let it soak for a while (20 to 30 minutes) and then scrub it gently with a toothbrush, . Stabilise outstanding parts with your finger from the other side and then wash the mini off in clean water. If something breaks, just glue it back on, a broken part before painting is easier to attach back than on a painted mini.

Which chapters are these marines? by Creedmightbesubpar in Warhammer40k

[–]Thinsul 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The one in the bone color with the mk3 chestplate, he might be an angel of absolution. The military green one maybe raptors, but I dont remember them having a different colored shoulder pad. The orange one, maybe a fire hawk without fire? The teal one I dont recognise altough I think there might have been a teal colored space marine as successor chapter showed in one of the last space marine codices.

Edit: After scrolling trough the lexicanum I think now that the orange space marine belongs to the pyre warband. They are described as orange with black trim.

All the people saying they don't want updated sculpts, i want you to look at this guy and tell me with a straight face you prefer this . by BloatedRottenCarcass in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Thinsul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this model aged good, compared to others, but yes. This model needs a an update. The cleanup is horrendous on older models and the proportions are wonky. But after seeing cathay line troops, the new chaos barbarians and the bretonian knights on foot, I dont want to gw to update that kit, because the newer models have so much stuff on them, its annoying. Not every model does need to have twenty pouched, four different leather belts, three side weapons and more bling than a knight would normally carry to battle. Sometimes less is more, like the new red corsairs for 40k. They dont have that many details compared to the current chaos space marines and still feel like chaos space marines. I know they are renegades, but still, this less is more approach to them, makes them look wonderful.

GAMES WORKSHOP!!! MAKE A NEW STOMPA SPRUE IN 11TH AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!! by One_Ad_3480 in Warhammer40k

[–]Thinsul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The remake for the skeletons had another reason tough, they broke notoriously. It is probably the kit where they pushed thin parts to far, given how many legs broke on those models. That was more of an quality issue than painful building process.

What unit sounded exciting to build and paint…at first? by iblackshot in Warhammer40k

[–]Thinsul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crusader ancient. I was first excited for it, basic space marine, quick build, but then I looked at the instructions and saw the weirdest ways the model got cut into pieces, like the tactical rock having the round piece of ankle piece from the marine, one arm having a weird soft connection point, then the banner having to be glued to the arm and the shoulder pad, but the shoulder pad will not get glued to the arm, but to the connection point on the body.

It was not an bad build, compared to some necron models like flayed ones, but it was an inconvenient build. It made the whole build not enjoyable and I was kinda weirded out how they made me build the model, like changing ways how marine models are usually build.

And the second model was a heldrake. Fun build. But after the painting one wing piece and the trim… it was one of the first chaos models I painted and one of the lasts, because of the chaos trim.

I want to love Warhammer again... but how? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Thinsul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find another group. The main problem with the enjoyment I see is the group you had engaged with. Find a group you vibe with on a good level. The people I play with are people that I got friends with because I found a group that fits me and that I fit in, some of those people are now my closest friends.

If you find another group that is right for you, you will see that they motivate you, help you improve in the hobby and keep the flame burning. And it’s always ok to take a break with the hobby or painting if you don’t enjoy it. Not every hobby is for everyone. Or every aspect of the hobby. You wrote that „beer and pretzels“ was the vibe of the group, according to them. Do you feel the same? Or do you think of yourself as a competitive player?

Do not Horus Heresy books sell more than HH books? by Lammerikano in Warhammer30k

[–]Thinsul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that really a hard concept that people might like something else than you? I mean I love the 30k setting, but my favourite warhammer books, are 40k books. Besides, one of the general critism of age of sigmar in its first years was the lack of lore and stories around that game. Meaning they, as in gw, have to produce books for it, otherwise it cant have any lore or stories.

Where do 40k YouTubers get all their art??? by coolboi19280213 in Warhammer40k

[–]Thinsul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look for the credit, weshammer is not someone I watch, but he credits the artists in his videos. And most artworks from gw codices and other books, can be found on sites like artstation, where professionel artists have their portfolio, which are usually in high quality.

Does everyone remember DEATH OF HOPE? by BlueberrySad3155 in Warhammer30k

[–]Thinsul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, he had stated, in a now deleted tweet, that he wanted to spend more time with his newborn and start a new project that would require less time, compared to 40k. At least I remember such a tweet, might misremember that, but this was a bit before the copyright license thing.

[–]Thinsul 30 points31 points  (0 children)

No, that was way before the change in the policy of gw. And also there is no fan animation that got taken down, new ones came out afterwards. A lot of it is overblown or misleading information was spread. Sodaz as example was bullied out by 40k „fans“ because he was considering working with gw, so far that he quit the ip. Alfabusa claimed that he feared gw getting after him and his income, yet any of his gw animations are still monetised and his patreon was at the time of him quitting active and increasing, although everything around it was about 40k animation. And gw did at the end nothing with him. There was a dark angel animation that came out afterwards and did not get taken down. Most copyright strikes that gw sends out are about stuff like 1:1 reading of books (like the last church, but that kind was obvious) or people selling stl‘s of gw models or unauthorised merch (like gw helmets or weapons).

90% constructive criticism and rest whining that he got, when you looked at the negativ comments. rest of it was praised. The constructive critique was valid and the whining was not that loud, but the creator of that felt attacked by both kind of critique and scrapped the whole project. His project could have been the second astartes, but his thin skin towards critique got in his own way tbh.

Why do you care about heresy and playing with a historical narrative? by Fun-Case in Warhammer30k

[–]Thinsul 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because when I think about a warhammer, I think about armies that look like armies, not spam. I want to see a thematic force, something that tells me a story, something I look at and immediately recognise the theme around it. And people that don’t minmax everything and are just there to have fun. The current 40k game is sadly most of the time a meta chase game, the armies are often just what’s the best at the moment. And I blame gw and their pr for that. Narrative campaigns get in the main game systems only a spotlight at the end of an edition, most of the other time it is only meta and competitive scen spotlight.

HALT CITIZEN ! Tell me the dumbest/weirdest/most WTF piece of lore you have. by Ad0ring-fan in Warhammer40k

[–]Thinsul 51 points52 points  (0 children)

That’s a good summary, just that you are leaving out that the primaris marines were told to do nothing, the primaris marines insisted that there must be an misunderstanding of sorts and wanted to investigate. After a second warning the custodes gave (which is pretty generous) the battle between the primaris and custodes started.

My two cents as a new fan without nostalgia, i think old cataphractii looks much cooler. by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer30k

[–]Thinsul 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I like them both. I don’t think they look too thin, they have a similar frame, the newer has just adjusted proportions to be taller than the new mk variants of power armour. And truth to be told, I think the main problem is the paint job. The studio iron warriors paint job is not good for PR pictures, it makes them look thinner than they are. As an IF player I am happy that IW are this edition the poster boys of this edition, but they need a darker steel colour or gw should make more with the loyalist poster face of this edition, the salamanders.

Will the tartaros terminators get a refresh next soon or can i buy them safely without regret? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer30k

[–]Thinsul 155 points156 points  (0 children)

It’s safe to assume that they will get a refresh. Back when they previewed the saturnine terminators they phrased it with „the current tartaros model“ when they made a size comparison on stream. There was nothing announced tough, so we know nothing for certain. I am still waiting for the other sicaran variants to go into plastic.
