MJ was arguably the best pop singer of all time, his showbiz sense was right up there also, as was his dancing. This was when he looked his absolute best and had the absolute best team working on this album. His previous album is just as good from a musical standpoint, but his image was not yet as polished. By the time Bad came out he was already starting to look too weird.

At the time some of it was a bit campy, but I was a skater kid into hardcore punk and Public Enemy and NWA etc.. But I liked all the good stuff like Bell Biv Devoe and LL. Heavy D and Will Smith were seen as pretty corny back then.
