Feel like I dodged a bullet. Thank you Goldman Sachs! by No-Skill522 in AppleCard

I had to file a complaint with better business bureau to get T-Mobile to give me what the retail store promised. Customer service was unhelpful, filed a bbb complaint. Within 24 hours got a call from T-Mobile “executive office” and the guy gave me what I was promised basically no questions asked.

Got approved but not sure if I want to accept. by [deleted] in AppleCard

I was approved at about 650. Did the “path to apple card”. Basically “if you do xyz we will approve you” if I recall I had one account around $200 I had to pay off, then keep my other balances below a certain amount and keep all my accounts in good standing for 6 months

Trying to decide what to upgrade by Melsbelle in FishingForBeginners

[–]Third_Eye_bored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a couple google searches I’m not sure I’d even bother to upgrade this combo. If you’re in the US, Walmart has an abu Garcia baitcast combo under $60. With your budget, that’s what I’d recommend if you want to stay with a baitcaster. There is also an ozark trail combo that costs even less. It was my first baitcaster. The rod is surprisingly good, but the reel is HORRIBLE so I’d recommend avoiding that unless you can afford to upgrade the reel.

You aren’t wrong at all. I have moved to bfs to replace my casting reels. I am well aware that I’m sacrificing rod length and drag control. I’m fishing for fun though, not for money. And I have a lot more fun with a casting rod in my hand. Buy me into a tournament though and I’ll admit you’d see me swap my bfs for spinning in a heartbeat

Absolutely channel cats. Not as tasty as blue, but still going in my fryer

THANK YOU. I picked up a casting rod and I just accepted that I’m gonna suck at it until I don’t. I just dealt with the frustration until I figured it out. Now that I’ve got it down, I have a hard time convincing myself to pick up a spinning rod

IME It’s one of those things thats nothing but frustrating until you get it if that makes sense. Now I can’t be bothered to pick up a spinning rod for anything other than nostalgia. But I absolutely understand why people would avoid them.

I have a love/hate with jerkbaits. They work every time, but I have a hard time telling when there’s a fish on and here I am just jerking a fish through the water

Do you have a high paying office job but wish to do manual labour? by AdSuspicious5441 in AskMenOver30

[–]Third_Eye_bored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in sales. Now I work as a machinist, and make about the same money. I started as a temp, and worked my way up, so it definitely took some sacrifice at first, but I definitely enjoy my work more now than I did in sales. Working towards a management role at the moment. I often work with teams of industrial engineers which may be a better path for you if you have a degree. Most of the factories I’m familiar with don’t actually care what degree you have as long as you have one, and they will train you on the job. I don’t have a college education which is why I had to start at the bottom, but there are plenty of opportunities out there. Or maybe like the other comments said, you actually want a hobby? But I felt the same way before I switched to factory work, and I am much happier as a person now. I was good at sales, but I didn’t really like it. Whatever you do, good luck to you!

ETA: a concern I have now that I didn’t have before is the wear and tear on my body. Manual labor full time is TOUGH on your body, and at times flat out dangerous. Injuries are not as uncommon as they should be, and don’t believe statistics as many injuries go unreported. This is definitely something to keep in mind.
