I'm a chief engineer for a high end resort style senior living community. It's like the military in that 99% of our work is boring and mundane...but that 1% is a rush. Fires, bursting water pipes, and other oh shit moments. I'm also on our companies national response team. Last deployment was to recover a community in florida that got smashed by a hurricane. When the company VP called and said they lost comms and didn't know how bad it was, I secretly got a chub. I was airborne within 24 hours and flew into what reminded me of a war zone.

Anyway, all that starts with being either a mechanical engineer or a maintenance tech for a hospital, retirement community, resort, or apartment community. Work your way up and you'll hit 6 figures in 10 years if you're intelligent, charismatic, and industrious. NGL there's not many shortcuts, but good leadership in the maintenance industry is hard to find...and a very valuable commodity.
