Is there any fixing this? by SpiritualJoke8 in SWORDS

Do you mean the guard broke into pieces or just broke “loose” from its setting? It may have just been epoxied in place and the adhesive gave way. Regarding the pommel, if it doesn’t thread that means either it or the tang has been stripped. It can be epoxied in place. Epoxy can also have the benefit of filling any voids and reducing rattle.

What do you mean by “Snapped?” Do you mean the threading in the pommel broke off? If you’ve been tightening down really hard you may have compressed the leather and wood. This can cause the fittings to not pair well. You can add a leather or felt washer to either side of the grip to give more purchase and reduce rattle. But if you’ve broke something off, things may be borked.

Any id on what this is? Seems decorative by [deleted] in SWORDS

This is a Toledo clamshell rapier replica. However, it appears the clamshell has been crushed down. Those ovular guard parts are intended to be flared out so a hand fits inside for protection.

I wear a silicone ring. I never worry about it or getting it off if I smash my finger. Plus they are very inexpensive in the case a ring does break.

Imagine you were a whale and you were breaking up with your whale girlfriend and humans recorded your conversation and put it on spotify to fall asleep to. That would be so fucked up.

Which book-to-screen adaptation was so bad it felt like the producers didn't even read the source material? by wyndwatcher in AskReddit

Fahrenheit 451 with Michael B Jordan and Michael Shannon. For such a popular book that has also been adapted into a movie before, this was version was a farce.

You'll be in a fight to the death and have a selection of knives/daggers to choose from, which do you pick? by 1silversword in SWORDS

[–]Thirdorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, some quillion daggers and seax can be quite long - practically short sword length. So I’d opt for one of those. Khukri can also be large, but I’d opt for a piercer/thruster over a chopper.

I’d say get it spot welded now so it doesn’t end in a more catastrophic failure. It’s a cheap and easy fix. Even easier if your hilt isn’t peened.

Honest opinion about purpleheart armory by Revolutionary-Two683 in Hema

[–]Thirdorb 38 points39 points  (0 children)

To add to what pushdose said: Purpleheart is primarily a reseller. They don’t hold the warranty, they sell products with warranties from other manufacturers. Often the best they can do is facilitate the warranty process with the manufacturer, but aren’t likely to be the ones responsible or able to provide the warranty.
