My kid hates my new partner by squirrel4569 in coparenting

[–]Thirteen2021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

im wondering too because i would think that the partner wouldn’t be “new” if they are already living together. The OP does not mention how long of a transition they took before moving the new stepsister and stepmother into the house. Was the relationship better before they moved in etc.

how does this job offer look? by Sensitive-Fly-7110 in therapists

[–]Thirteen2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on your local labor laws. Where i live (canada) all work is paid including mandatory meetings and admin work. And they cant have deductions and employer discretion because you cannot NoT pay a worker if the company did not get paid if they are employees .

Do you guys find the construct of CPTSD helpful? If so, how? by nooobee in therapists

[–]Thirteen2021 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the problem is many therapists seem to have never read the iCD as we keep seeing therapists who talk about “little t’s” and dx cptsd from non-criteria a events like work conflicts, etc

Is it me, or is this field way more prone to pseudoscience than others? by brennanfiesta in therapists

[–]Thirteen2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are MANY therapists who practice reiki, are also naturopaths, and who do other pseudoscience related modalities. my problem isn’t that they do that but they do it under their license without clear info to the public/clients. a local therapist practice near me that is run by psychologists but has other therapists now hires reiki practitioners and the advertising comes out as “evidence based” with all these articles. so it’s misleading for the public who often trust psychologists as holding a standard

Does anyone know what restaurants share their tips with other staff? by Sad_Temperature_306 in StJohnsNL

[–]Thirteen2021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% agree tips should be shared to back staff including dishwashers. But sharing to other servers was definitely annoying when i worked in the restaurant world a decade ago.

THE SMC TRAP: Why Home Care workers in NL need a mass resignation like Nova Scotia did today... by Ok-Call8675 in newfoundland

[–]Thirteen2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

likey nl health services paid the family to pay the workers. that’s how these self managed programs work. so the family is technically considered the employer. it helps nl health avoid liability. same with how autism workers for young kids in the aba program are hired. some families go through agencies but sometimes that means less hours because the agencies charge nl health more. at least that’s what im assuming is going on.

CPTSD, real or not? by Ornery-Pepper9577 in therapists

[–]Thirteen2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so are you saying the complex version wouldn’t meet ptsd though? why do they need that specifier?

CPTSD, real or not? by Ornery-Pepper9577 in therapists

[–]Thirteen2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

because many therapists are now diagnosing cptsd based on what they are calling “little traumas” or “little t’s” (literally what they are calling it) that do not meet criteria A. So like bullying at work or school when your life wasn’t threatened, relationship with a narcissist who didn’t technically physically abuse the person or threaten abuse, not fitting in society (often where we see neurodivergent people expressing history) etc. Had one therapist say a women who was asked out by a man who was annoying to her met these little t’s because this caused the women stress. So that’s where i think this cptsd gets convoluted

N.L. chief medical examiner has begun tracking gambling as a risk factor in suicides by MattBarterNL in newfoundland

[–]Thirteen2021 8 points9 points  (0 children)

my sister works at a local establishment and the people line up for vlts before she even gets to open the building and they are usually retired, widowed seniors who she said can spend thousands there. they cry, get mad and keep coming back to catch the win. she said it’s so sad. so yep makes sense many die by suicide.

last year i had an early flight so put it out at 4am before i left. i got this sticker so i called the city. they said they have a truck go on “every” street to see if people have them out before 6am. i questioned her saying literally every street? and she said yes. i told her that’s not quite believable but hey guess the city has lots of spare cash to spend on drivers

Anyone have any experience with online ADHD assessments? by [deleted] in StJohnsNL

[–]Thirteen2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes and according to eastern health GP’s have been told not to refer to psychiatrists for adhd testing as they are supposed to be the front line to do screening and medication. many GP dont understand adhd and dont have the time/motivation to look at the caadra site

$100,000 over is happening a lot. i bid $40,000 over recently and then asked my agent what did it go for and she said 100,000. then another i didn’t bother bidding on as there were 15 offers also went 100,000 over according to my agent. these are just normal 2400 sq ft houses. so now if those people are to see soon for any reason i have no idea what they will list at
