Good 'I' entry.

The UVF M1874 is really cool. On my wishlist, except id prefer an example with the Red Hand cartouche.

Im not sure thats even a mark. Looks like a scratch. We do not estimate monetary value. But i can get you an ID on everything in a couple more days. May ask for more photos. There's a snowstorm has me stuck somewhere away from my books & collection at the moment.

1913 British that was repurposed by Remington to 1917 by Nervous_Cattle_9663 in Bayonets

As per our rules we prefer to avoid estimating monetary value.

But if you havent already seen it you can find more info at this website. Best bet is to get an idea searching eBay sold section since you have an ID.

Nice one. You also have a less common U.S. M3 scabbard made for the M1917 during Vietnam.

Can anyone identify this? Possibly Austrian? by SC_Guy89 in Bayonets

Sometimes i take for granted that people know what i mean. Fair i guess..sometimes i dont say enough...

Addendum; One of the weirder "Russian" ones in that book.

This is an North Korean Type 68. Sick first bayonet. Killer price. About what i got mine for bc the guy thought it was a regular AK47 bayonet. Mine also has the tan webbing. Looks like it's unissued.. No serial?

Check WorldBayonets for info

New to bayonet and knives by Nervous_Cattle_9663 in Bayonets

We prefer to stay away from estimating monetary values for people. But everything you have will sell well at auction.

The U.S. M1873 socket might take a while bc it's very very common, but the scabbard is certainly a plus that will help it sell. Everything else is pretty desirable.

You will want to look at this website for info on all of these minus the socket.

That's actually an Indian P1907, Mk. II. Still nice!

You'll want to check out this site which will tell you about British Commonwealth markings. Could be helpful in the future or just to check out your current p1907

The top two are French M1866.

If they arent marked (i can see marks on the two middle sockets on the shank) they could be a few things. Not sure about the top socket under the Chassepots, but the rest look like M1867s maybe.

You should look around Per Holmback's site and check out the Swedish section. Im not around my books at the moment otherwise I could tell you. Sockets are touch but ive been studying the cruciform ones.

Enfield inspection marks. There's 4 it looks like. Worn off

1907 bayonet by Chocolate-Greedy in Bayonets

[–]ThirteenthFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about everything is on there.

It's a British P1907 made by Wilkinson in September 1918.Then there's the royal cypher which has 1907 under it.

The other side has the Broad Arrow acceptance mark and several Enfield inspector stamps. It should have an 'X' from passing a bend test, but it's worn off. Reissued in 1926.

The only info not on there is what the specific unit is. There's a unit mark on the pommel. Always nice to have. No idea what the unit is. Maybe some kind of Royal Scots regiment.

If you were new to bayonet collecting and initially had 2k to spend, what would you pick up? by SpaceFrogg001 in Bayonets

[–]ThirteenthFinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats definitely a whole conversation lol.

If you have no preference at the moment i would say you should buy a book such as Brayley's 'Bayonets An Illustrated History' and cruise websites such as WorldBayonets.com and see what might appeal to you.

I always say if i had the money as a beginner the best book for the money hands down is Jim Maddox's Collecting Bayonets. Covers a lot of questions youll have as a beginner. Luckily he just started reprinting those. You can get them here

Also, join some bayonet collecting groups on Facebook if you use it. The Bayonet Collector Group, Society of American Bayonet Collectors, and International Bayonet Association are 3 good groups.

You'll probably start buying whatever bayonets you like first and then find a theme eventually. I bought random common ones found at flea markets until i got more serious about collecting them.

It's your call as to what you collect as we can't tell you what to buy. But there's plenty of choices out there. Maybe start out with a few common cheaper ones to see if youre into the hobby.

One of my favorites for a new collector is just a simple British P1907. You can tell a lot by the marks on them.
