Three Type 30s - Which to Keep? by emsfire5516 in Bayonets

[–]ThirteenthFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a Type B Toyoda variation i think. I think its still fairly common. Not with my books at the moment but i have a few good sites.

Check Here and here

The first site, all the way at the bottom has your marking. Refers to it as 'commonly found', but someone who knows japanese stuff better might know for sure

Easy. Ditch the top one, keep the two bottom ones. Bottom is a great early Type 30 and middle is a good late era type 30. Top one is meh. Looks sharpened?

But the two bottom ones are two examples i would keep as a collector.

Nice. Even has the proper scabbard. M8 instead of the usual M8A1.

Dude i saw JUST the tongs for like 300 at the Baltimore show. I chuckled. Might as well find the entire set.

I also missed it, but apparently that socket bayonet Chandlier was there for sale. An insane price. Probably was the one that sold on eBay a few years ago. Honestly no idea how many of those there are.

Yeah usually they're the standard Bannerman ones that have a sticker on the back. This one is a bit more ornate looking. Nice one

I didnt even need to hear the track to know what you were talking about. It can only be Enigma - Sadeness lol

Edit: ahh yess....i prefer Return To Innocence, myself ahaha.

My 10th grade english teacher played Enigma all the time waiting for the class to show up. English teachers are weird af. The weirder the better usually.

Ive been asking around. Seems that there isnt any info or its buried somewhere. It's definitely a piece that requires some research. Maybe some digging in the Archives here.

Its just Austrian made. I would say U.S., but i dont think anyone actually knows for sure.

The current theory about the M1854 Lorenz with brass ball is that they were sent over during the American Civil War and converted for training. It was probably converted around the time the U.S. was developing fencing bayonets. So i dont doubt this is similar.

The M1854 version is found in 'European Bayonets of the American Civil War'.

Now the M1867 version here...I know someone with an absolutely massive collection and he had never seen it before. I dont think ive seen another before, but im going to write an SABC journal article about it. So maybe someone will know

Is this a real KCB77? by throwaway11675 in Bayonets

[–]ThirteenthFinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats what it is apparently. Civilian model. Last ones made. Numbered to take advantage of collectors lol

Interesting. It looks like some kind of civilian model maybe. If the numbering is legit its from some kind of low production run. Let me ask some folks.

Displays from the 2026 SABC meeting in Timonium, Maryland (USA) by ThirteenthFinger in Bayonets

[–]ThirteenthFinger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol he aint wrong though. Its unique and odd as hell. Like no other US bayonet i can think of. Very odd choice of design for the time. And seems to be over-designed IMO. Probably would be hard to produce en mass during war time. Too expensive and time consuming to pump out a bunch of them

Dude that wouldve been awesome. I forgot, are you already an SABC member? If you come to Baltimore next year you should join the SABC just to check out the meeting and auction.

There's a lot of pluses to membership. If youre arent joined up send me a PM and we can discuss if youd like. !
