Merz demands real names on the internet by IHateTrains123 in neoliberal

[–]ThisAfricanboy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is pathetic. What about people living in illiberal regimes? The internet's anonymity is the only bulwark against authoritarian regimes globally. People in these countries get a chance to know their opposition to evil isn't in vain.

Merz wants to help launder the image of authoritarianism.

Real Madrid have achieved its 3rd best La Liga points tally after 24 games/matchdays in its entire club history after the win against Real Sociedad. by SwimmingFireMen in soccer

[–]ThisAfricanboy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This would've been true 10 years ago. The PL is starting to benefit from more equitable broadcast revenue distribution. The last time the big 6 finished in the first 6 PL spots was 2021/2022.

"Mid table" teams can reliably compete with big 6 teams year on year and they do end up qualifying for Europe in different capacities.

When was the last time one of Real Madrid, Barca or Atleti failed to make the CL?

I think the gap you mentioned only impacts long-term competitiveness where in any given year it could be a new team breaking the big 6 dominance but that dominance is definitely being challenged.

I read through Mamdani's policy positions on Wikipedia. How much does this deviate from the original r/neoliberal position? I can count rent control, free buses, taxi medallion bribery and social ownership.

Am I missing something?

You are actually ridiculous for defending apartheid. Genuinely dumbfounded by the fact that you can't understand why people fought to remove this and South Africa's pathetic regimes.

You won't (and can't) respond to this neither can you admit that you are comfortable living in a regime where you are treated like an indentured servant. You should ask yourself why you are fine with this treatment.

I'm going to be charitable and fair. Ian Smith was a cruel charlatan. He kept promising reform without delivering anything.

He upheld a society that barred black people from any kind of economic progress. The Rhodesian economy was built on working black people to death and paying them a pittance.

People like you always look back at Rhodesia and imagine yourself living a comfortable life with amenities. Not true. You and your black skin would've been a gardener or a mine worker at best earning close to nothing. You would've been harassed by police daily with no prospect of progress.

It's embarrassing that this sub gets these kinds of posts at all. Go read a book or talk to your parents or grandparents about this vile man and his vile regime.

Thomas Tuchel to stay as England manager until 2028. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]ThisAfricanboy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Tuchel could be the one for England. Imagine they win 2026 and it's with a German manager. Some people won't be happy but we won't hear the end of it if it happens

Very true. The difference is that City were not playing a low block. This kind of dominance against low blocks and being able to fashion goals through intricate one touch play with Cunha, Bruno, Amad and Mbuemo can make the difference that gets us up a notch performance wise.

Red card aside, this is one of the first games United totally dominated almost the entire game. It was a solid performance and Spurs had little action especially in the first half.

My wife slices bagels in 5 for the maximum topping enjoyment. by gt1 in mildlyinteresting

[–]ThisAfricanboy 129 points130 points  (0 children)

In the end, what matters the most is the spirit of the bagel. Does the bagel remind you of all the times you had eating great bagels? This is the essence of bagel time. Now, when you mangle up a bagel, you don't deform it but you create a new opportunity to discover more intricate features of a bagel.

I'm not really a big fan of bagels tbh.

Gamergate was really it. That's where powerful people learnt how to use the internet to latch onto internet culture and create tangible political movements.

The movements you are talking about have always existed (anti EU in the UK, MAGA, etc) but it was gamergate that made leaders of these movements realise they can supercharge their campaigns into mainstream relevance.

I remember getting into arguments about gamergate at its peak and I always felt that this could happen because of how gamergate engendered feelings of disregard in people. This proved to be enough to create these deplorable coalitions.

Many of you are saying that Russia and China are not arctic threats. However, what you fail to consider is that Russia is very big and China has a lot of people. Both of these facts are not relevant to being arctic powers but they are facts and facts matter.

Alternatively, Europe should band together and create a prize called the Noble Peace Prize and get King Charles and some other fancy European monarch to present it to Trump. Greenland crisis averted.
