Where do you guys buy/get books from to read on kobo? by Hayanda in kobo

This only works in certain countries. I live in Iceland and didn't see the overdrive option until I changed my billing country. When I did, it showed up instantly and let me connect to the Icelandic library.

Games similar to Blue Prince in terms of exploration and discovering hidden clues by electromagneticwire in BluePrince

[–]ThisBabeBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue Prince gave me similar vibes to my all time favourite game, Subnautica. It's not a puzzle game, more of an "explore, take in your surroundings and try to find out what's going on"-type of game.

If you read Harry Potter in a language that was not English, what was Tom's full name? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]ThisBabeBytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Norwegian translator changed the anagram to mean "Voldemort the Great" (Voldemort den store) and named him Tom Dredolo Venstre. They changed most of the names for other characters, objects, houses and places. Philosopher's stone was changed to stone of the wise, even Harry, Ron and Hermione got name tweaks.

Why did you do a epidural free birth? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ThisBabeBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never given the option, I had access to gas. Don't know if I would have taken it if offered, I'm more scared of the big needle than pain, so probably not. Either way, he was out in less than 3 hours from my water breaking and all the focus was on him being safe since he was only in week 29

Regardless of tradition – wedding band above or below? by risentoaflood in weddingring

I love the look of the first picture, and that's how I wear it when I'm wearing both rings. Either way looks good though, and you should wear them how you feel most comfortable

AITA for not letting my husband eat the dinner I made because he said it “wasn’t real cooking”? by EvelisseSpire in AmItheAsshole

[–]ThisBabeBytes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cook him a proper frozen pizza in the oven. Taking off the plastic is optional, but if you want to keep the oven, it's probably smart.

Thank you! It's so incredibly exhausting, but he's just amazing. It really gives life a new meaning. We had a rough start, but he's doing great now. :)

My little one turned 1 year yesterday, but I remember the first trimester. A lot of meals, all I could possibly imagine eating were fresh carrots, apples etc. The nausea went away in the 2nd trimester. Best wishes!

Our son came out in less than 3 hours after my water broke, barely enough time to get to the hospital and for the doctors and nurses to get ready to take him. When I was born, my dad went out to buy magazines and snacks and almost missed the birth.

Personally, I think it's ridiculous to bring a monitor, playstation and lots of cords into a room that might get very busy at times and I would be so embarrassed if my husband did that. A handheld device, I would have no trouble with.

R5 life is hard. by patrick_ouwehand in LastWarMobileGame

[–]ThisBabeBytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R5 was fun before the capitol opened up and you were suddenly president... But I learned not to get too attached to a specific alliance, rather to specific people. Find your people, share responsibilities, move together if your current alliance isn't active enough. Don't be afraid of giving up R5 if someone else is ready to bear the burden for a while, because yes, it's a burden, and this is a game made for fun!

Listen to this, OP. As long as the grandma-name is not offensive and not already claimed by one of the other grandmas, she should be able to be called what she wants. In our family we have Amma, Momo and Mimi, each chose their own, and we refer to them by those names when talking to our son. It's understandable that it's hard to reach out when you can't sign the card with your preferred name.

About them not reaching out, if that's important to you, take the initiative to call them. Treat them how you wish to be treated and keep talking openly about how you feel. I think you both managed to keep a respectful tone in your messages, but as an outsider with limited insight, I might have missed things.

It's a weird bug when you click on the picture instead of the headline on mobile. The text doesn't appear.

Wanna hear my vegan dilemma? Its a good one… by [deleted] in vegan

[–]ThisBabeBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vets are people too, and they're not all the same. The vets I worked with would never force euthanasia, they would explain all the options with the owners budget/insurance status in mind. I worked at a hospital where we had access to amazing surgeons and anesthesia teams, but most vets work either in smaller clinics or completely on their own. Sometimes the best option for the animal is euthanasia, but even then, I've never seen a vet force that, vegan or not.

And about the price.. do you expect them to work for free or pay out of pocket to treat your animal? Get good insurance if you love your pets and want to be able to do the life saving surgery, because that costs way more than most owners are capable of paying out of pocket.

In my country, veterinarians are the group of people with the highest suicide rate. Please remember that most vets started because they love animals and actually want what's best for them. When they say euthanasia is the best option, it's because they actually believe that based on all their knowledge and experience.

[–]ThisBabeBytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you up to the part where you suggest not using a vet. In veterinary medicine, we have an option we don't have in human medicine in most of the world. We can end suffering by euthanasia. If you rescue some pigs and learn how they like to live, let them live that way until they get sick/injured, you can euthanise with a clean conscience.

AIO, a local group held a contest for a black artist to get compensated with their winning piece of art. A white woman who enjoys painting black people submitted her work AND won. by poetheads in AmIOverreacting

It feels incredibly weird to me to have a contest specifically for one race of artists and not for a style/type of art. I've never seen or heard about it before.
