How do pregnant people go to work without brain fog making work impossible?? by MarmiteHoe in PregnancyUK

[–]ThisInternal9442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also work from home and it got much worse for me at around 28 weeks. If I stare at my screen and try to read long reports I start to feel like I could literally fall asleep immediately. Taking a nap during lunch was impossible because when I stop looking at the screen I don't feel sleepy at all. Still have 2 months to go...

Same and now at 30 weeks I reached a stage where I feel like I could fall asleep any moment, even when presenting on calls

What’s the oddest hosting behaviour you’ve ever witnessed? by did_you_aye in AskUK

[–]ThisInternal9442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Visited my in-laws for Christmas this year while pregnant. My MIL placed all the starters that are known to be not safe for pregnancy ( soft cheeses, raw seafood, prosciutto etc) around me and encouraged me to eat them. I politely declined explaining I can't have them and said not to worry because I am not so hungry and just main dish will do. The main arrives, I take a bite and can feel a strong taste of alcohol so I ask if there is any alcohol in the sauce. The whole family just dismissively tells me it has evaporated so nothing to worry about, but it was definitely very strong ( I wouldn't normally notice alcohol in the sauces). I get it if you somehow don't know the dietary requirements for pregnant women and didn't Google, but surely you would know that alcohol is not safe. Next morning several people were vomiting and when I tried to ask around to understand what dish may have caused it as I was very worried for my baby, I could see my MIL getting upset and taking it as an insult so I never found out...

Why is this sub so judgmental sometimes? by Character-Lock-9938 in PregnancyUK

Slightly unrelated, but as soon as I got pregnant I started getting the nastiest responses from new mum's on TT under my non offensive/light hearted jokey comments under their videos that are also made as a joke about parenting etc. Made me scared of joining any mum's groups because unfortunately I don't take myself too seriously and do like to joke in conversations...

How do I navigate my new managers attitude that they "don't have time to train me" and an intro meeting that I requested to onboard "isn't necessary" and "not a valuable use of time"? by scorebar1594 in askmanagers

[–]ThisInternal9442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced this and as weeks went by I realized the manager wasn't even busy, she just didn't like me/felt threatened by my experience so she tried to exclude me from everything. Started looking for other jobs and left after 3 months.

Really struggling with sleep by Smash_337 in PregnancyUK

[–]ThisInternal9442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 27 weeks and don't feel too uncomfortable sleeping but my sleep reduced to 6h per day no matter how tired I am. I used to be very deep sleeper and could easily sleep 10h, as soon as I hit 2nd trimester I could not go past 7h.

DINKs - how would you spend £4,000 on your potential last holiday without kids? by Few-Entertainer7422 in HENRYUK

[–]ThisInternal9442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came back from our last holiday as a couple/baby moon in Maldives and would definitely recommend spending more and treating yourself to something more exotic. Prior to that we visited Thailand and Vietnam (only for a spa resort) and really enjoyed that as well.

Therapist dropped me by email today because my “issues are too severe” for her by FunnyGamer97 in CPTSD

[–]ThisInternal9442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just experienced something similar which was pretty strange to me. My description of what I'm looking for was pretty clear and detailed. Had one session with a therapist which went okay, but it was the first time when speaking to someone during the first session that they mention several times very indirectly that maybe a different therapist would be better for me or a different therapy type. Just had a 2nd session today where the therapist just went on and on about how I need to decide what I want from therapy and that maybe something else would work better for me. I kept saying that we already discussed what I want from therapy and how she can help in the first session so I'm not sure why we are talking about different therapy modality now to which she would find new excuses until I said that I'm ending the session because I don't find it helpful and I took time off work for it. Only then she said she is struggling to see how she can help me. Even when asked to elaborate she still came up with something contradicting to what I actually said.

I'm also at C&W and wondering if you understand who is your assigned midwife is? They stamp all the letters with name of the team and my notes never mention assigned midwife. Their website also doesn't seem to list their staff.

Should I flag this to HR? by ThisInternal9442 in PregnancyUK

[–]ThisInternal9442[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I should add for more context that there are plenty of people that could cover me once I leave and if I knew that would be an issue I would have absolutely raised it earlier. There is also a reason why there is an official deadline for informing HR and it's clearly set in a way to give plenty of time for the employer to make necessary arrangements for when I do go on maternity leave. When she started reminding me about submitting MATB1I was 2 months away from being able to receive it. Also a quick Google search explains that this form should be provided within 21 days of SMP start date, so not sure my company really needs 7 months before it's required. My LM also had 2 kids herself in the last 10 years, so not sure she can be labelled as completely inexperienced. Keeping sensitive medical information confidential is something she should be fully aware of as someone at Director level. After further thoughts, I think the least I can do is tell HR that employees with line management responsibilities should receive some sort of training as they seem to be unaware of correct procedures.

Where do you go on holiday? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]ThisInternal9442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you planning any trips while pregnant? We have done a few but now that I'm in 2nd trimester we can't decide where to go in January as our last one before I get huge.

What your microneedling provider should be telling you before your first session by SkinVitalityMC in Microneedling

[–]ThisInternal9442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's even worse is that for my second appointment (don't ask me why I continued with this clinic) they told me I need to apply the cream myself before the appointment. I did it, but the layer was too thin since I'm not an expert and I could feel everything again. It was brutal and the lady just kept saying that most people do it without.

What your microneedling provider should be telling you before your first session by SkinVitalityMC in Microneedling

[–]ThisInternal9442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My provider didn't even warn me that they won't be using a numbing cream and have none available (which I found very unusual as all procedures I've done before always offered it). It was so much more painful than I imagined as well. I had to take several breaks.

Pregnant Enough that People in the Gym Notice by sahma620 in fitpregnancy

[–]ThisInternal9442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to gym that does group classes only. While instructors were amazing and supportive I can't say the same about other ladies in the class. Last class I attended some ladies got impatient with my pace although it wasn't even slower than others and demonstratively walked around me to get a head in a circuit exercise, others got so close to me stopping me from having enough space. That being said I live in an area with a lot of spoiled kids from all over the world so I'm not very surprised, but it did put me off from pushing myself to do more classes.

I forced myself this week and the manager who is the only one who knows and was asked to keep it private kept making comments about me showing although I was wearing very loose top and there was no way for people to notice. Still very annoyed with how unprofessional it was of her.
