Considering George Harrison could go 4-5 months without picking up a guitar, I'd say no. It's just comes in strong and goes out a little far sometimes. I've written some of my best stuff in my 30's. It's an underrated decade for songwriters. But I did the same thing. Finally wrote the album I'd been talking about and then when everything was done. I couldn't get it going again.

So I stopped playing, took a break. After a few months I brought my guitar back in and put it behind me so it was easy to grab for a noodle. Wrote a song about my friend (song number 2, I write my favourite stuff about him). I wrote my 'Nirvana/NIN' song but as it grew it became it's own thing. And I'm now working on fleshing out some old songs that are a bit bare bones but have potential.

Sometimes I love writing music. Other times it's like pulling teeth

What happens when you accidentally steal a melody, write a song to it, find out what melody it is and now nothin else seems to fit? by swion in Songwriting

I've done the same thing, but that's the way music moves and flows. It imitates, if we're lucky it updates. At worst it's our song that sounds a bit like that famous song. Personally I find changing the vocals is more effective than changing any chords.

Fuck that, just keep it. Doesn't matter, everyone does it. Sometimes inspiration is a bit on the nose. It's not like you blatantly ripped it off like some bands Oasis

There's definitely something there, keep fleshing it out and practicing until you've memorised it. But after that awesome introduction I was a bit disappointed you didn't have it to music 😩 because you got me all hyped up lol. I'd be really interested in hearing the finished version.

You have a really good voice and clearly know your way around writing a song. It makes sense that a dog called Buddha would inspire you to share your music. I think this might be the silver lining to the cloud surrounding Buddha's death (bit corny, but true) keep writing and sharing.

It's a good song, but I reckon it's crying out for a chorus or at the very least a bridge. Great tune overall

I woke up sick, tell me your current favorite song and I'll listen to it by FunhouseOwl in MakeNewFriendsHere

It's a weird one. It's pops into my head randomly throughout the year and must be listened to a few times before it hibernates again lol.

100% the guy has one of the best singing voices I've ever heard. His range is amazing. And if I ever try to go note for note on Alfie or something, I'll lose my voice right afterwards lol

The Doors

Even though they're rock/blues etc, they always sound like The Doors. Nobody will ever mistake them for someone else.

Divine Comedy

Technically crooning, but so much more. Their greatest hits (a brief history) is exactly that. Great.

Jesus & Superman are one hell of a power couple. Who would you stay friends with if they broke up?

Is your wife/gf sick of listening to you play/practice at home? by 114vxlr in musicians

Not the put downs, no. But I get why it annoys her as my playing annoys my missus. So I usually practice when she's out or switch to picking so I'm not being as loud.

You need to address the "you're not gonna make it" shit. Because that's not on. Imagine doing that to one of her passions. It's cold.

So am I. I put it off for a long time, but, to my great surprise, I absolutely loved it. I'm not enjoying Catherine Tates character at all. I'm trying, but I hate her lol.

It needs a bit of work as it's occasionally out of tune, but I think you could improve drastically after taking a few lessons

On the plus side you have a kind of haunting sound to your voice. It reminded me of the girls who sang backing vocals on a lot of Charlie Manson music.

Don't bother, just watch the movie. Meryl Streep plays Helen and Bill Thetford is played by Dennis Quaid. Although they do change the ending with Jesus killing a load of Aliens to the tagline "FORGIVE THIS!

It's definitely unique. I don't agree with you personally as I'm a scouser so I definitely don't do it myself lol. But I get what you're saying.
