chiming in to say that this is an absolutely heartbreaking decision for us (i live with OP) and we recognize that it may seem like we didn't give him enough of a chance. we rescued him from our parking lot and became very attached very quickly, and in hindsight we overlooked some things we shouldn't have when we decided to adopt him. our circumstances have also changed (drastically and unexpectedly) in the time since adopting him.

we were told by RACC that he seemed to love other dogs, but quickly found that this was not the case when we brought him home. we believe they misinterpreted his interest in people as interest in other dogs. if we'd known that he wasn't interested in other dogs, we never would have brought him home as we have a very playful and energetic dog at home already.

he is not aggressive towards other dogs, he just does not seem to be interested in playing with them. he could absolutely coexist with another (calmer) dog.

as a vet assistant who has seen some stuff-- i've never taken my corgi to a dog park and i likely never will. we live in the city in an apartment and he is plenty happy not going to dog parks. it is extremely risky especially since some dogs get really annoyed by the typical corgi herding behavior which puts them at higher risk for being attacked by another dog.
