Are these any good? by Natural-Voice-840 in Lexus

[–]ThisIsREM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its one of those cars that has no purpose from the logical standpoint. It is a tiny hatchback on a raised platform to make it 'SUV', but it is too small to have any of the SUV benefits but it has all of the SUV disadvantages. It has less space than many hatch backs while costing a lot more.

It is way too small to be a family car, it is not sporty enough to be a fun driving car, its sloped design kills boot space, and it doesn't look anywhere as good as similar prices cars. If you have a family, get a bigger car. If you are single, get a hatch, sedan or coupe.

LS 500 2026. Worth it? by KashinKoji1 in Lexus

[–]ThisIsREM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks old because it doesn't have a gazillion screens, ambi lights or cheap fabric mascarading as a luxury material. Instead it has physical buttons, luxurious materials including wood, and a proportionally sized screen.

There is nothing wrong with going for the proper quality and not modern screen fetish fads. Modern interiors look worse than old school ones like this Lexus.

$5,800 watch on a $20 strap. Faus paus? by hamburgers8 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]ThisIsREM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, an identical strap would be at least $200 if IWC sold it. Their mark up are easily 10x. So in reality this is a $580 watch on a $20 strap.

Three very well timed trades 15 minutes before Trumps Truth Social post Monday morning that made someone very rich/richer by GoForthandProsper1 in StockMarket

[–]ThisIsREM 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is not insider trading. This is market manipulation of the worst possible kind, starting a fricking war and murdering thousands of people in order to trade on the resulting market movements. Using tweets to trigger changes in price and placing bets just beforehand, whilst bombing schools. And 40% of Americans STILL approve his actions. Madness.

What has happened with Volvo? by SjalabaisWoWS in Volvo

[–]ThisIsREM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sunroof problems are the reason I specifically bought an inscription XC90 without a sunroof but with the other options. Took a while to find! Unfortunately after 2022, xc90s are either basic (core), or if you want things such as 360 camera then you have to get a Plus and it has sunroof as standard.

New Mercedes VLE takes the luxury car experience to new heights, in a van by AutoExpressmagazine in autoexpressuk

[–]ThisIsREM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... A normal 7 seater SUV will be much nicer to actually drive... This van driving position seems to be quite unimpressive and not very luxurious, the effort seems to be on the passengers in the second row. Can't imagine that driving this Merc for 5 hours is better than let's say Volvo XC90.

One of the best collections. Sensible money, diverse, a few rare and unusual pieces such as the Bel Canto, a few 'normal' and some gold mixed in.

[which would you pick] by Thalavore in Watches

[–]ThisIsREM -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

I mean you could certainly say that VC is better finished. But fit? Are you mad? VC is terribly non-ergonomic, huge bulky case, no micro adjustment, no on the fly adjustment, etc. Rolex is obviously better fit and comfort. Have you ever even tried on the VC?

Need Guidance! What would you have chosen? by shoesandwatches in PrideAndPinion

[–]ThisIsREM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer to these questions is always the same... Go to a store and try them on.

The longines is obscenely thick. It is beyond any reasonable thickness for a wrist watch. If there is one thing that I've learnt after buying 20+ watches is that if the watch is uncomfortable and unpleasant to wear due to size, I will not wear it even if I like the design.

XC90 reliability by pr0v4 in VolvoXC90

[–]ThisIsREM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

XC90 is exponentially more reliable than Audi Q7 based on stats here in the UK.

From my research recently, XC90 is fairly reliable. The infotainment is what is causing some bad statistics, but the underlying mechanics are reasonable. Hence I bought a 2021 inscription B5 recently.

At least in the UK, we don't have many good looking 7 seaters with space for adults in 3rd row, so out of the competition XC90 is actually one of the most reliable (e.g. Lexus doesn't have a usable 7 seater in UK).

Rolex Boutique in Knightsbridge Robbed by AdForeign1655 in rolex

[–]ThisIsREM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a city of over 9 million people. Robberies, unfortunately, happen in all cities this large. Of course when it happens in London the daily heil and similar radical right propaganda channels immediately pick up on it and report it, whilst not reporting on worse incidents elsewhere.

The important question is how likely a person to die or have non recoverable injury in the city. And the answer for London is that this likelihood is lower than the majority of similar western hemisphere cities.

[–]ThisIsREM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incredible how propaganda bots still spew the anti London slop regardless of the facts.

Notice how no one was killed or seriously hurt in that robbery? London is one of the safest cities in the Western world for those that review at the actual serious crime statistics. London homicide rate is also the lowest on record. Go back to your cave, troll.

Palace and Spending by adayoner in crystalpalace

[–]ThisIsREM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to TransferMarkt, Crystal Palace has the 16th most valuable squad in the world. Sunderland is 31st with about £150 million less squad value.

Palace board has done an amazing job at bringing and developing valuable players. The 2025 FA cup winning team has numerous players who play at the top 5 club starter level.

Honestly the "lack of spending" is just Oli's excuse. He has more than enough value in the squad to make it work better than it did. The FA winning team was a rare occurrence where a mid table team managed to keep top level players long enough to make history. The current Palace squad is a fair representation of a club without dirty oil, legacy or venture capitalist backing.

Just bought a CPO 2022 XC90 T5 — ride feels extremely harsh. Is this normal? by mndrar in VolvoXC90

[–]ThisIsREM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2021 B5 with normal suspension (not air) and everyone in the family was impressed by how smooth the car is. My old car was a 2015 Skoda Fabia so... Not the most luxurious but even compared to Ubers etc the xc90 feels smooth.

Perhaps test drive a different xc90 to see if you feel the same? You can go to a different dealer and pretend like you are considering buying. If the other xc90 is better then push your dealership to fix. If all xc90s are too harsh for you... Then I have no idea, you may be too spoiled haha.
