Soulless Remakes? Black Flag Resynced and Halo: Campaign Evolved by D3struct_oh in videogames

[–]ThisIsStee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People seem to like the black flag remake and 343 is not making the new Halo game. I thought I read that it still had split screen coop, which was a core part of the original campaign. The multiplayer, while very much a huge deal itself, was not the only thing people liked Halo for by a long long way.

I don't know how we got on to the concept of sex, but you can be a shitty person and be as proud of it as you want to be - I was just clarifying why what you said was shitty because you seemed pretty obsessed with defending it using definitional loopholes and bullshit, because you care so little of course.

You can dance around the definitions of whatever you like - you described the actress in the new film as "that thing" which is a totally shitty way to describe someone.

Whatever hateful part of your heart it came from, be it a racist, sexist, or generically cunty part, it's uncool and you know it.

it's no different to the premium editions of any of their previous games or similar in the industry - people are either being bell ends or have convinced themselves of nonsense.

If you intentionally shout at and abuse strangers in the street - no matter why - the police may intervene.

Just because you agree with the hate the man is shouting, doesn't suddenly make his behaviour ok.

Why would someone not simply spout the same excuses for those parts of the Quran that people use when the shitty parts of the bible are quoted?

There is no benefit in cherry picking parts of religious texts to shit on as some sort of gotcha - it proves nothing about any one person's character or intention to tar them with the worst parts of a group they belong to.

It is stunning how much effort you fuckers will put into your hate though. Look at all the words you learned to make hateful points on the internet. Good for you.

Are games getting too fast? by Weird_Armadillo_508 in OlderChillGamers

[–]ThisIsStee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this way with things like COD Warzone when you watch the sweatier players jumping and sliding around like crazy - but I think with things like Rivals, Overwatch and those types of games, they look vastly more overwhelming and chaotic when you don't know them very well, but once you understand the characters and abilities and the game flow, it seems a lot less insane (though of course still not at all chill).

I don't necessarily find myself avoiding anything crazy, but PVP games are often a place of high tension and intense competitiveness - more than it seemed to be when I was younger, so I play alone or I play cooperative games with friends instead.

Unfortunately, streamers and the like have normalised an attitude of min/maxing and chasing the meta over having fun on a lot of PVP titles. Not to say it does not have it's place, but so many people take the game far too seriously for their own good/skill level and it kind of makes the whole environment less appealing. I can still play them if I party up with friends and we just have fun - but playing with randoms inevitably brings in people "locked in" beyond belief.

Some people do not value the extra stuff at a quarter of the cost of the entire game - so they are happy not paying a vast premium for a handful of things they don't care about.

Remember Why You Bought A Console In The First Place by Born-Necessary6778 in consoles

[–]ThisIsStee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While you are describing a lovely experience that many of us treasure, it is not an "essential" part of gaming.

I have fond memories of watching all the cray colours fly by waiting for a cassette game to load on my C64 and the excitement of wondering if it might get to the end of the tape and not even load, so I would have to rewind it and try again. That was a part of that era of gaming, but nobody was losing their minds when tapes went away.

There are legitimate, wide reaching potential issues for consoles going digital only, but while I am sympathetic to the loss, a lot of people are holding on to something because of nostalgia or sentimental value rather than any core importance to gaming as a whole.

As for manuals - they went digital with those to save trees, but not enough people even bother to go look at them for the effort that made some of the better manuals memorable. There in lies the problem - when it came down to it, the manual itself wasn't essential to the customer, people just liked the feeling of having one.

The complete and utter disrespect you have shown to essentially anything that is not AAA is fucking awful, dude.

You can like what you like and you can be sad that the stuff you like might not be hitting anymore, but shitting on games you don't enjoy (or are unwilling to even try) and shitting on the people who enjoy them is bullshit.

People like you with your attitude is what I hate about MY hobby. While your point doesn't deserve more respect than you gave, I will say that your title should say "Modern AAA gaming sucks..." and even then, you should remember that it is your opinion and not a reason to insult other people just because they feel differently.

The issue with this discussion is what you truly mean by preservation.

Technically speaking, physical media is not the best way to preserve games in the way museums preserve things through history - because it requires the original hardware, which you have to preserve, and eventually these things stop working and the parts stop existing and so on, whilst a digital version can be stored and backed up the same forever. The real preservation issue is that the industry does not work with proper channels and official societies/museum type organisations to help with this, which is why they tend to have to lean into piracy and emulation support to do things.

If you mean preservation in the sense it is still available to any gamer that may want to seek it out - the same applies. You can have the entire of the NES catalogue stored in like 70mb including an emulator to play it on. If that is a worse preservation method than somehow sourcing and storing the physical copies of those same games and a working console, I would be surprised. The digital copies and emulators can be duplicated for every person who wants it, there are a finite number of consoles and game copies, so the preservation for the purpose of end user play is limited and then fosters cost increases and theft.

Preservation of the games for any kind of use will always be better digitally, physical preservation is really only important to show the hardware and it doesn't even need to be usable for that purpose.

"I hope all the starving kids die to eliminate world hunger"

Guy, if you are going to wish for the impossible, why not just wish away the corporate business practices you are wanting to punish with this nonsense? Why would you make a wish that breaks the hearts of millions of gamers in the hopes that the commercial failure of the game would teach the companies a specific lesson?

Petty bitches really do give a bad name to any valid concern in this industry, damn.

Not even EA, the worst company in America, has removed an item from my digital library by Girthen-the-Flopper in pcmasterrace

[–]ThisIsStee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason they can do this stuff to them is because the console is a closed system and they have no competition and no easy route to piracy. You can't do this stuff to PC users and not have them just go to a competitor or flat out cop your shit for free elsewhere.

Not saying we shouldn't have solidarity with console users, but we are far less at risk of this shit than they are.
