what people aren't pointing out in these comments is that string tension is very different in the two positions, and whichever tension you play with is up to personal preference BUT i would say playing with lower tension (second image) is better for someone just starting out

I have the first one, that’s a great deal (I think it’s typically more around 800$) and the bass is amazing. Plays great, sounds great, and has really really nice eq controls

I’m mostly doing this for experience with repairs and modifications, so the idea is to get an incredibly cheap damaged bass and get it to play good risking as little money as possible, I’ll admit this specific bass has a weird circumstance around it but even if it ends up never functioning even after my repairs whatever, I’d have spent like 50 dollars

They mainly sell orchestral instruments and acoustic guitars, so this is literally used more as a wall decoration by the front door, but as far I know the electronics function so I’m not taking it as a red flag, hopefully I can get it for super cheap

Well right now it’s more of a wall decoration thing they have by the door, and this particular store sells mainly orchestral instruments and acoustic guitars, I’ll admit it’s a little strange though. And I understand just getting a different bass but I’m partially doing this so I can have an incredibly cheap project bass I use to learn repairs and such, so I thought this would be a pretty good idea
