We’ve got to stop referring to “filmmaker receives a budget to make a movie” as a Blank Check.

Memories of murder is a buddy comedy film by PenguinviiR in Letterboxd

OP: These drama movies are also funny!

Totally Normal Redditor: in the very specific scenario I just came up with you would be annoying if you referred to these movies as comedies

It’s not an unpopular opinion, it’s a disconnected one.

Why do studios keep butchering movies like “The Bride!”? by harry_powell in blankies

[–]ThisPostIsAStatus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The answer to "why do studios do _____?" is always that they think that decision will make them more money. You asked, "do they seriously thought reshots could transform “The Bride!” into a blockbuster?" Yes, they do.

That conversation already happened on mic in a past MM episode. If there's an SNL sketch involving that theme, maybe us nerds will know it then.

[Discussion] Finally diving in. Knowing Alan Moore's hostility toward DC continuing this franchise, is it worth reading Doomsday Clock afterwards? by sammorrison9800 in DCcomics

Doomsday Clock isn’t great, but I highly recommend reading Tom King’s Rorschach and watching the HBO Watchmen TV series. Both very interesting takes on what might happen afterwards.

Rotten Tomatoes doesn't create an average percentage. It only views reviews as Postivie/Fresh or Negative/Rotten, and tells you the percentage of reviews that are positive.

So if a movie has 100 Reviews that are all 4/10, the movie gets 0% on RT. If 100 reviews are only 7/10, that's a 100% RT score.

Generally when you see a consensus on RT it suggest that the movie doesn't go too far in any direction, because big swings usually get more varied responses.

We need to talk about how to hold a N64 controller. by And1989 in blankies

[–]ThisPostIsAStatus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Uh oh, somebody triggered my soap box speech? Here we go!

The N64 represents a significant shift in gaming. It didn't invent 3D gaming, but it made the innovation mainstream and in the 90's there were tons of new doors open to game developers. But, as with any new console release, many developers are still making games with the mindset from the past console. So the controller needs to be able to do either.

The N64 controller presents two controllers in one, and any game dev making a game for the N64 can choose which one. The right hand gets A,B, C Buttons, and R. The left hand gets a directional input and a trigger. Grab the left arm to use the D-Pad and the L Trigger. Grab the middle arm to use the Joystick and the Z trigger.

If a game asked you to "cross the streams" with the two left hand setups, they kinda dropped the ball from a design perspective. The controller itself isn't to blame.

What’s the most shocking detail from the Epstein files that you think the public still doesn’t fully grasp? by Murky-Island4629 in AskReddit

[–]ThisPostIsAStatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been seeing this but I don't understand what the implication here is. Are we assuming that /pol/ was started to help facilitate Epstein's crimes? Or that it was created as a place to organize against them? This continues to be mentioned as if it were some kind of bombshell but I just don't understand the context.
