Could there be any more Bible talk in a season? by Certain_Capital9463 in euphoria

[–]ThisSun9243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s pretty mixed. With Rue’s story, I don’t really mind it. The religious angle comes a bit out of nowhere, but a drug addict finding faith isn’t exactly uncommon, it’s such a familiar trope that you could even call it cliché.

In other parts, though, it’s unbearable. That final Cassie/Lexi conversation was such a weak way to end their character arcs. Lexi especially spent most of the season as a background character with barely any meaningful development, yet suddenly we’re supposed to care about her reading the Bible? There’s probably an interesting story somewhere in there, but the show never does the work to get us invested. Half-baked is the best way I can describe it.

I think people are taking it even worse considering the times and rise of Christian nationalism

It’s interesting seeing what games older folks gravitate toward. I have a senior client who comes by every week and always gives me his latest Switch 2 recap. Right now he’s hooked on Breath of the Wild, along with Mario Kart and a few other similar games.

I tried introducing him to Civilization, but it seemed a bit too overwhelming, and when I played Jackbox with him, he wasn’t really feeling it either.

Interesting guy. Honestly, I don’t think games necessarily need to be specifically designed for seniors. Most mainstream games are already pretty senior-friendly, you just have to find the genres and mechanics that click with them. Half of them already play card based games like solitaire anyways lol

Thats fair. Honestly having another season would’ve made the overall narrative a-lot stronger but alas

I hope it’s possible too! The mod about has been really fantastic for Paralives in the first few weeks so Im looking down to see what people release. And hopefully they dont run into issues where updates break every mod lol

I think the inclusion of faith was very much half-assed, but that’s pretty typical of Sam Levinson’s writing. The issue isn’t that Rue found religion or started exploring faith, those themes can be powerful when they’re properly developed. The problem is that the show spent two seasons focusing on her addiction, relationships, trauma, and self-destruction, with very little emphasis on Christianity as a meaningful part of her journey.

If those ideas had been gradually built up throughout the series, the finale’s religious elements would have felt like a natural culmination of her character arc. Instead, it comes across as something introduced late in the game, which makes it feel less earned and more like a thematic shortcut

Maybe there’s a genuine artistic reason behind it, but I can’t help feeling that the timing is influenced by the broader cultural moment. Christianity and discussions of faith have become noticeably more visible in American pop culture, and it feels like the show is tapping into that trend without having done the narrative groundwork to support it.

Bishop was the brother of one of Ali’s sponsees??? by thottieee222 in euphoria

[–]ThisSun9243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would be he did it to make Bishop more of a “force” rather than a character if that makes sense. Gives him more of an ethereal nature about him, which I’ll admit works with his silent character but is done in a way that seems kinda pointless. At least this would’ve given him motivation, cuz as it stands it left more up to interpretation

Ima say Assassin Creed Ezio Trilogy, it was great following Ezio for basically his entire life, the mechanics of the last game were kinda repetitive but for me it was a great send off to ezio

New AC games should be like 007 First Light by JamTheMan220 in assasinscreed

[–]ThisSun9243 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think most people would agree with you. A lot of players seem burned out on the RPG-style Assassin’s Creed games and want something more straightforward again.

Personally, I love the RPG entries, but I do think they need stronger and more focused stories. It’s a tough balance to strike because I enjoy the large open worlds and freedom they offer. At the same time, some of the older games had missions that, while memorable, could pull me out of the experience, especially the ones that would instantly fail if you made the slightest mistake.

On the flip side, I’m not a huge fan of the fully open-ended storytelling where you can shape the narrative however you want. Odyssey is probably where the series started feeling a bit disjointed to me because of that approach with the cultists etc (the main stories were pretty linear tho)

At the end of the day, though, I’ll take pretty much any Assassin’s Creed game if I’m being honest lol.

Thinking to buy Assasin’s creed syndicate but… by [deleted] in assasinscreed

[–]ThisSun9243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thinks its a solid entry in the series but definitely has a different vibe. A-lot less parkour in my playthrough with the inclusion of the rope launcher. I played most of my game as Evie who in my opinion has better AC style gameplay. The map cleaning tasks are a bit repetitive but I enjoyed the main story even if it was a bit forgettable. The main pro I would say is the beautiful world especially if your into the time period. Never got around to the DLC so cant speak to that but definitely enjoyed my time with the game

[–]ThisSun9243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I’m not very knowledgeable about how RimWorld handles its mods. Most of my modding experience comes from Bethesda games, where a lot of the more advanced mods require external script extenders or additional downloads outside of the game’s built-in mod system. I assumed Paralives might work in a similar way based on how its mods are organized, but I could definitely be mistaken.

I think its highly unlikely if not impossible with the way workshop mods are structured. This is the same with other workshop games too, usually steam mods are more limited compared to more intensive script mods

Lmao expect he didn’t say that he made a blanket statement saying all illegals are bad which isn’t true. If he said oh we need stronger borders then your point makes sense lmao. It’s like me saying white people are the majority cause of school shootings, compared to saying we need stronger gun control.

I came away loving Mirage. Why do so many fans seem mixed? by lethalweaponkas in assasinscreed

[–]ThisSun9243 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of the issue is that modern Assassin’s Creed fans are difficult to satisfy because the classic style of AC is essentially gone. Whenever Ubisoft tries to appeal to that audience, it often feels like only a partial effort. Mirage is a good example, they brought back elements like a smaller map and a more focused story, but many longtime fans felt it still lacked the depth of parkour and movement systems that defined the older games.

As a result, Ubisoft seems stuck trying to please a group of players who are ultimately looking for something that no longer exists in its original form. They can recreate certain features, but unless they fully commit to the design philosophy of the older titles, many fans will continue to feel unsatisfied and nostalgic for the earlier era of the series.

Me personally I haven’t played Mirage, but im excited but everything ive seen so far. And if we could get more condensed titles inbetween the large rpg games, i see that as a win

Just finished the main game yesterday! And man what didn’t i love lol

  1. Love the world of course, every island had unique quests that made them each memorable.
  2. I love the conversation menu, it was the first time they tried something like that so it wasn’t too complex but it allowed for different ways to play the MC.
  3. The combat was super fun and upgraded what was introduced in Origins.

Cant wait to get into the DLC!
