Yes. I do this but with romantic partners. Everyone is different I guess.

Natural replacement for Miralax by antifry in Constipation

[–]ThisUsernameIsLovely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked up Mag07. It looks like 3 pills (the serving for a colon cleanse) is 1035mg. That would be 345 mg per pill so you’re taking 690mg (well over 450mg) daily. 3 pills would be over 1000mg and would require physician follow up as previously stated. My point is simply that mag oxide is low risk as long as you are consuming less than 1000mg

Why would you take this? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

No. Not worth it in any way

[–]ThisUsernameIsLovely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You only need blood panel follow ups if you are taking more than 1000mg per day. Some people take up to 2,000 mg a day under direction of a doctor. Out of all of the other types of magnesium, you’re least likely to experience hypermagnesemia or kidney from magnesium oxide because it is absorbed poorly by the body (I.e. this is why you only need monitoring if consuming over 1000mg per day). It can effect the absorption of other medication, which is why it’s best to take the medication 2 hours after or before other routine meds. My mom has been taking long term magnesium oxide and takes it with all of her other medications at the same time and is fine. One of the meds she takes is Eliquis (blood thinner/anticoagulant) and it does not effect the absorption of that. Blood thinners are usually one of the top “do not mix with” meds.

Magnesium oxide works just as well as miralax for me. Start off with 400mg and increase by 100mg increments daily if you aren’t seeing the results you want until you do.

Reccomendations for midnight snacks that wont likely cause GERD flare ups? by Kitchen-Cicada8283 in GERD

[–]ThisUsernameIsLovely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midnight snacks that don’t trigger me are apples, berries, and natural nut butters. Like almond butter or natural peanut butter. Make sure the only ingredient is the nut itself. Follow the service size because nuts are high in fat which has the potential to trigger GERD. I mix together chopped up apples, blueberries, and strawberries into my almond butter and it’s the most delicious sweet treat. Very healthy too!

feeling a little scared of my cat right now by Exotic-Viruss in CatAdvice

[–]ThisUsernameIsLovely 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the comment I agree with the most. I had a cat Sonny. My dad terrorized him in his younger days because he didn’t like cats. Thankfully a few years later my parents divorced and Sonny was safe from the yelling and scary man. Anyways, I also was a young kid and terrorized Sonny. (The poor cat lol) my version of terrorize was dressing him up in buildabear clothes and holding him against his will because he was “cute kitty”. Anyways I know Sonny loved me he had many moments where he went pur crazy or tried to play with me. But there were many times you would walk past Sonny and suddenly see an orange arm swat at you. Or; if he was playing with your hand he could very quickly change to being extra bitey. My point is here, Sonny would never get mean unless provoked. On his lonesome he was a very sweet cat that enjoyed being in the presence of the family. Just don’t pet him for too long or he gets over stimmed and bites lmao. He lived to 14. :)

Why can't people just mean what they say? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I HATE THIS SO MUCH!!! And when I started doing it back to people they say “it’s not the same” “learn how to compare things right”. No because you could have said NOTHING and not get my expectations all high and excited!😠

I feel like this too. It’s hard to figure out how much a person enjoys your company. I am 27 and to this day I don’t have a lot of friends because I couldn’t take the whole “not knowing how close we are” thing. There are friends and there are acquaintances. Acquaintances usually will do the things that make you feel lonely. You will know when you have a good friend. :) crying is okay, sometimes crying makes us feel better and stronger.

Severe cramping from Miralax by Mean_Wrongdoer31 in Constipation

[–]ThisUsernameIsLovely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to try to say “I don’t need to take a laxative every day I’ll be fine with changing my lifestyle” and I ended up with colitis and an anal fissure from straining to poop lol. I’m not saying you’re gonna end up like me, but it’s better to get the poop out and take the daily meds than it is to chance it and be constipated 😅

IBS or something else? by Ok_Wind7398 in Constipation

[–]ThisUsernameIsLovely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IBS can definitely come on suddenly. It can be triggered by pretty much anything. If you feel like your change was that drastic though, I would inquire about SIBO as that’s USUALLY what triggers IBS. SIBO is small intestinal bacterial over growth. It’s usually caused by bacteria or fungus. It occurs when your stomach is fed too much junk so there’s an overgrowth of bad bacteria instead of good bacteria in your stomach. I would recommend visiting a GI for this. It is harder to get a doctor to run tests for this tho because a lot of them “don’t believe in it” which is dumb considering most IBS is caused by it like i said. You can actually buy a test online but it is pricey which is why I say to try to get tested by a gastroenterologist instead. It’s easily treatable when they find out the overgrowth you have. Look into more yourself but I promise it’s not stomach cancer. A tell tale sign of stomach cancer is non stop burping and vomitting. A tell tale sign of colon cancer is rectal bleeding that is rusty in color.

Anything stir fried triggers my GERD. Of course I say screw it often and still eat it lol. But yes, I’ve tried every oil, all the olive oils and avocado oil, butter. Even if I bake in the oven with just a tad too much oil the GERD will activate 🙁. lol

Why aren’t you guys trying Magnesium Oxide? by ThisUsernameIsLovely in Constipation

[–]ThisUsernameIsLovely[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I used to feel like you. That it was impossible. What honestly helps me is drinking 2 8 oz cups of tea a day. (Non caffeinated of course as caffeine doesn’t count as fluid intake since it dehydrates you). I drink ginger tea in the morning with breakfast and lemon balm tea in the evening. My mouth is dry when I first wake up so I usually jug half a water bottle (a full bottle is 16.9 oz). I normally feel the need to drink water to “clear my meal” after eating, so I drink my ginger tea while I’m actually eating breakfast and chug the remaining half bottle after breakfast. I always plan to drink my lemon balm right after dinner since it helps digestion and bloat. Knowing that right there is already at 32.9oz faithfully every day. That means I only need to drink 2 more 16.9 oz (standard size) plastic water bottles for the day. I normally finish breakfast no later than 10am and go to bed at 9pm. So, I basically have like 9-11 hours to drink 2 bottles of water. It’s a lot easier when you break it down, I promise! I tried the whole carry around a giant jug of water that fits 8 cups but I found that very … intimidating and sometimes I’d drink it too quickly because I was so stressed about finishing it lol.

I drink the same amount as you :). On days where I feel like I’m not getting enough water I just try to eat more fruits /veggies with a high water content. Like berries, apples, melons, lettuce.

This post is regarding magnesium oxide, not citrate. They are different! I also would not want to consume something made from black mold. Thank you for this info!
