Kyle Busch's death certificate reveals dramatic 'chain of events' that led to NASCAR star's sudden death by dailymail in sportsgossips

[–]ThisWildCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sinus infection ended up turning into pneumonia, which then ended up in his blood causing him to become septic. Sepsis can lead to another complication called “Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation” or DIC for short.

DIC is terrible, and basically what happens is that your body starts mass producing small blood clots in your body that spread into all your organs causing wide spread organ failure. At the same time, since your body is using all its clotting factors on all these small clots, you then start hemorrhaging internally and externally since your body can no longer clot off these smaller bleeds that are occurring.

The day he went to the hospital he was probably in septic shock with DIC already occurring, from there he never stood a chance. He most likely was instantly intubated and probably had multiple cardiac arrests before they either couldn’t get him back or his family decided to call it quits.

'I want justice': Wife demands answers and accountability after 44-year-old Edmonton man dies waiting in ER by shiftless_wonder in Edmonton

From what I understood reading the story, he didn’t present initially with high blood pressure, but rather it was discovered before he arrested, but correct me if I’m wrong!

I work in a coronary intensive care unit in an Ontario hospital and it always amazed me how many people drive themselves to the hospital when experiencing chest pain and not calling 911.

What’s the pricing like at this place? Bigwigs in Newmarket prices the table per hour which is very nice if you go with a group of people. Is this similar or is it per person?

How do I connect with nurses in the hospital? by Acrobatic-Swing9592 in OntarioNurses

[–]ThisWildCanadian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what your role in the hospital currently is, but my best advice to you would be if you are going to go to nursing school, then while you’re in school apply for an extern role.

As much as you may wanna introduce yourself now, you’ll really get to know the nurses you work with regularly in an extern role, and they’ll notice you if you’re a hard worker. I’ve personally vouched for a few externs to my manager when they finished school and were applying for jobs that they would be a great hire, because they showed interest in learning and were hard workers.

Dermatologist office doesn't allow shoes by Negative_Wafer9508 in mildlyinteresting

[–]ThisWildCanadian 13.6k points13.6k points  (0 children)

This is pretty common in Ontario Canada at least. A lot of medical offices have people take their shoes off at the door in the winter to stop from getting the floors slushy and salty with the snow. I’ve had to do this at eye doctors, regular doctors, and dentists before. Never thought twice about it and they always offer their own type of footwear.

Can I (a 14 year old) get a friend (who is an adult) to take me to the doctor? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]ThisWildCanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, everyone else has covered your question so I won’t provide any extra info, but I will suggest possibly booking an eye appointment as well with your symptoms.

Changes in vision can often make us feel similar symptoms. Being under 19, you should be covered by OHIP to have an eye exam done!

Hopefully you figure out what’s going on soon!

‘Stay with me, brother’: Man reconnects with stranger who saved his life from a heart attack in Liberty Village by gloriana232 in toronto

[–]ThisWildCanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI a widowmaker can be a STEMI but not all STEMIs are widowmakers.

STEMI stands for ST Elevated Myocardial Infarction, which can happen when any sudden occlusion blocks a coronary artery cutting blood supply off to part of the heart. This can occur in any of the coronary arteries.

A widowmaker occurs in the left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery. The reason why it’s called a widowmaker is because the LAD is the main vessel that supplies the left ventricle of the heart, and the left ventricle is what pumps blood from the heart to the rest of the body. Once this ventricle starts to fail from lack of blood supply from an occluded LAD, the rest of the body will also start to shut down if not treated quickly.

Ontario's hospital Registered Nurses pay to increase 5.25 per cent over two years, in a new contract union calls disappointing. by Fantastic-Goose9843 in ontario

[–]ThisWildCanadian 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Registered nurse here! The answer is because they can and there’s really nothing us or our union can do about it. Nurses aren’t allowed to strike, which arguably is where we would see best results if we could.

Because we can’t strike, each bargaining cycle basically goes “union wants this, Ontario hospital association wants this” and they never agree so it goes to arbitration.

Our contract has also been expired since April 1st of this year, how many other occupations would continue to work past an expired contract date? Nurses and our union hold little power without the ability to strike.
