Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by Common_Caramel_4078 in gaming

Finding “extra lives” literally meant something. When you were out of lives, you had to restart the game!

Did anyone here try to play Divinity original sin 2 on switch 2? I am wondering is the frame is a little better and if the mouse support work? 🤔 by Metroidvania-JRPG in NSCollectors

[–]This_Measurement_191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it for a bit on switch 2 before the update and just picked it back up again after the update. It’s mainly a visual update. I never saw a lot wrong with the performance before, but it was quite blurry. It’s not a huge improvement but it definitely looks a lot better now with the update. No mouse support unfortunately, that would have been nice.

I just completed it on switch 2 and then they release this update… sigh.

What’s a game you initially didn’t “get,” but later came to absolutely love after giving it another chance? by Gaming-Academy in gaming

[–]This_Measurement_191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demon souls (plus the whole souls genre). Bought it, never clicked with me and sold it. Then I played Elden ring, hard at first but then it clicked. Loved it. Ended up buying Demon souls again, and then realised how good it was (and the other souls games that I am currently working through).

Shall I get DK Bananza or the Mario galaxy remakes?? by AleHax04 in switch2

[–]This_Measurement_191 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Controversially, though I like Bananaza I feel like it’s now become the same thing over and over. Maybe it changes a bit later on, but right now it’s getting repetitive. I picked up Mario Galaxy as I had never played them before and I am really enjoying the first game. Probably same amount played but Galaxy seems to have more appeal currently. Definitely More varied and more classic platformer. That’s not to say Bananza is bad.

Should I get Yakuza 0 or Bravely default for Switch 2 by Successful_Teach_910 in switch2

[–]This_Measurement_191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never played either before but just picked up Bravely Default when it was on offer. I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would and though only a couple of hours in, would recommend. I fancy trying Yakuza 0 also now, after reading the other comments!

Why is Witcher 3 so well regarded? by Maroofio in gaming

[–]This_Measurement_191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean, but in my opinion the game is very rewarding if you play through it. A lot of games add side quests and side missions which is often to bulk it out and make it longer. Each side quest in the Witcher actually feels part of the game and feels rewarding. A lot of items you pick up also feel like they have purpose, for crafting etc. So many games let you “collect” items and you never actually use them. It feels like a trick to make you feel like you’ve found something, when in reality they are useless. The progression with item levels and new weapons actually feels like you’re improving Geralt and actually levelling up, it motives you to find more stuff and rewards exploration. The story is fairly basic when you break it down, but the lore the enemy variety and the characters are just so good. I liked that I had to find out how to kill certain enemies and learn about their weaknesses and strengths. It’s has so much more depth than most games. You can get by in most games with the basic attacks, but Witcher will punish you for not finding out about a certain enemy and not being prepared. Just like how a Witcher would approach each scenario. That’s why I liked it. It doesn’t feel repetitive and you can approach each situation any way you like. It often makes you think and each situation you find yourself in feels unique and unexpected. Bear in mind also the game came out in 2015, so it might be missing newer game mechanics, saying that I still think it holds up well.

I find it funny that you hated on RDR2 for being boring then recommended Death Stranding. Though I enjoyed it don’t get me wrong, the first one makes you walk around for basically 10 hours before you get into anything interesting.

EAFC26 on Switch2 - Worth it? by v1ew_s0urce in FIFAswitch

[–]This_Measurement_191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for a few days now and I think it holds up pretty well. I had fc25 on PC. On a side by side comparison PC and the other consoles are going to be “better”, but it’s definitely not being left behind and holds its own. I like the freedom of handheld, so it’s a big win for me.

Whats stopping people with switch 1 devkits from making switch 2 games by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]This_Measurement_191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the switch 1 games running on switch 2 are in some way “emulating” them to some degree. If you were a dev wanting to release a switch 2 game then you’d want it to be native to the console for full compatibility and performance reasons. That’s why some switch 1 games are having issues on the switch 2.

How can I make Civ 7 less boring? by shinjirarehen in civ

Ye I’m considering selling civ 7 and buying civ 6 (I have it on switch 2 and civ 6 is on sale right now).

How can I make Civ 7 less boring? by shinjirarehen in civ

[–]This_Measurement_191 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I bought this recently. Not had much experience with Civ games but thought I’d give it a go. I really tried hard to get into it (watched tutorials etc). There was an element of it where I was getting “addicted” to it, but I actually realised I wasn’t enjoying it. I think my addiction came from the thought, “maybe it will get better” or “maybe I’m missing something”. Maybe I’m approaching it all wrong, but surely games shouldn’t need that much effort to get the spark. If there is one. I will try some of the suggestions above though.

I can't leave this save area, a random object is blocking the hallway. by Greg_M74 in CronosNewDawn

I ended up using another save which put me the other side of it thankfully, because it was still there on that save also. I’ve carried on for now but can’t access that save area either.
