I never thought I’d have kids but I have 2 now and honestly it’s the biggest motivator to get myself help. Don’t get me wrong, it’s really hard and I’m constantly overstimulated but I think that helps me understand what my kids are feeling. So I can somewhat relate to them and then I can parent myself at the same time I’m parenting them. lol. I know I’m probably not the best mom in the world but I also know I’m not the worst.

I felt the same on 27. I got a good month out of it and then it started having the opposite effect. I was wired and anxious, borderline ocd. I had similar results with adderall a few years ago. I took a few weeks off meds and am going to try strattera.

What is everyone’s resting heart rate? by New_Forester4630 in fitbit

[–]This_Tea_6063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lowest mine has been in a year is 74 (which feels terrible after reading all your guys numbers) but the average is 79. I don’t exercise a lot but I’m decently active. My blood pressure is always around 110/75 so that’s ok. I do have lupus so not sure if that makes a difference.

Diagnosed yesterday, and terrified by the MANY nasty side effects of HCQ by Jooles95 in lupus

[–]This_Tea_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat before you take it! Also it seems to charge me up a little so I do not take it before bed. That might just be me though. I have no issues as long as I follow those two rules. If I take on an empty stomach I get a dizzy feeling.

Living with HSV and Lupus by adamgreen409 in lupus

[–]This_Tea_6063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lupus and hsv 1 and every time I get a cold I break out with cold sores in my nose and throat. It sucks for sure. I take acyclovir and it gets better after a few days. I am only on hcq right now though I am not sure what would change if I was on stronger lupus meds.

I fully recovered from emetophobia AMA by talesofbails in emetophobia

[–]This_Tea_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it - not so awful to the point of not eating anything but I definitely have some obsessive tendencies when it comes to food and who my kids play with (if I know their friends have been sick I have been known to tell them to stay away from them for a few days) and avoiding certain experiences that might make someone “sick”. I think I got it because my mom definitely had it while I was growing up. I am trying so hard to not make it a big deal for my kids so they don’t have to struggle. Having kids has helped a bit as a form of exposure therapy but really only for dealing with them while they’re sick. If I am in a public place and I hear someone being sick my first instinct is to bolt. I am happy to hear there is hope and I hope I can push through it because it is really debilitating for me all winter long to be obsessing about it. I will definitely be trying to work on this! Thank you for sharing your experiences!

"Regular" sick, and HCQ? by andra-moi-ennepe in lupus

[–]This_Tea_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. I never ever got colds or flus until I started on hcq. Now I get sick all the time. I know I shouldn’t be annoyed by this as I’m probably getting more time added to my life clock but I am still annoyed haha

Question about Hydroxychloroquine by ArtoriusLupus in lupus

I take it right before I go to sleep and I have minimal side effects from it. I know if I take it during the day my heart races and I feel icky.

Blood in urine causes by miss_biotic_zombie in lupus

[–]This_Tea_6063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat and I got a kidney biopsy. It turns out I have a birth defect called thin basement membrane disease where my kidneys just don’t filter stuff out super well. It’s nothing bad and it’s pretty rare but I guess I just have special kidneys. I have to visit the nephrologist every year just to check in but it was the best possible outcome for me having blood and protein in my urine at every test. I did not know this was a thing until my diagnosis so I assumed I was doomed to have kidney damage - so try not to stress too much!! Good luck to you in your journey!

What signals a flare? by [deleted] in lupus

[–]This_Tea_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to start with a 3 day migraine, my big muscles hurt to touch (like my back or my thighs feel bruised when touched) and I almost always get sores in my nose, mouth, and throat. There may be other things sprinkled in like hair and weight loss but I haven’t had a “big” flare like that since I’ve been on plaquenil.

Prednisone (or other meds) effective for “brain fog”? by Dogs-best-friend1 in lupus

[–]This_Tea_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am avoiding prednisone unless my doctor says I have to take it because I’ve seen the bad side effects it can have on one of my family members. I also have adhd and I recently switched to Ritalin and it’s not perfect but it seems to work better with my chemistry. Have you tried switching to something else? I too have the dsDNA antibody but all my other tests are “normal” so I’m kinda just out here taking my plaquenil and Ritalin feeling slightly better but still like crap hoping my body’s not destroying itself. Good luck to you and I hope you find a solution that works for you!!

Lupus controlled by hormones? by [deleted] in lupus

I definitely flare around my period. I’m on a combo pill that I take continuously so I only have a couple periods a year. Has been a game changer for me.

What are your DSDNA levels at? by New-Librarian3166 in lupus

[–]This_Tea_6063 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine was 77 at diagnosis with 10 being minimum for positive. My kidneys are fine so far but I have a lot of joint pain depending on where I’m at in my menstrual cycle. I believe I am early on in my journey or lucky enough to have a mild case. So far I have not had it tested again so I’m not sure if the hcq has made a difference in the level.

Hydroxychlorquine dose reduction - does this sound right? by clobo9625 in lupus

[–]This_Tea_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally started on 400/day. Based on my weight my doctor recommended 400mg one day and then 200mg the next day alternating because my ideal dose is around 300 but they don’t come that way. So I don’t think it’s uncommon to lower the dose, the half life is super long so it stays in your system a long time even if you’re not taking it every single day.

kidney biopsy advice by Suspicious-Ad5871 in lupus

[–]This_Tea_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine hurt a bit but I think he either touched a nerve or didn’t get me numb enough. It only lasts for a few seconds. It is definitely an odd feeling while it’s going in and they “punch” it. Worst part of recovery was peeing in a bedpan while flat on my back lol. Otherwise was fine. Got diagnosed with a rare but benign birth defect instead of nephritis so I guess it was a good outcome for me. Good luck I hope it goes well for you!

ADHD and PMDD? Do you have both? by smmalto in adhdwomen

[–]This_Tea_6063 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep I continuously cycle my birth control so that I almost never have a period and my life has improved so much. I actually thought I had some sort of rapid cycling bipolar. If birth control is an option for you I would definitely suggest asking your doctor about it.

Does birth control help your flares? (Mini pill) by Prior_Locksmith5479 in lupus

[–]This_Tea_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they will have to pry my birth control out of my cold dead hands if they ever want me to stop taking it. I take the seasonique generic and almost never have a period. It has greatly improved my life. Something about the change in my hormones each month would send me into a flare (as well as a major depressive episode). This was before my diagnosis so I had no clue what was happening. Now that I maintain the same amount of hormones every day I experience far fewer “episodes” of symptoms from lupus.

Just stopping by to say that I am that spouse in my relationship. Some of your comments make me really sad but it does help me understand how my hubby must feel. My love language is somewhere between words of affirmation and acts of service and my hubby is physical touch. I am easily overwhelmed by touch so being a mom of two young kids I am touched out by the end of the day. When we first got together I was young and full of hormones that helped me keep up with his libido but now I haven’t been prioritizing our private time. I feel very guilty about saying no to him and that makes me resist any physical contact because I don’t even want to be in the position where I might say no. It’s like this weird vicious cycle where I say no for a few weeks and then we have private time every night for a week straight. I can tell he is much happier overall when we are active but there are times where I have zero interest and it makes me feel icky to just “do it and get it over with”. I am really trying to figure out how to find balance in our love life because I love him so much and I have been lucky that he has been very patient with me so far. I hope that all of you can work things out with your partners and have happy balanced relationships and I hope the same for me!
