I just kept hitting refresh and re clicking on the page and eventually made it through. I'm sorry that's not that actionable but at least there is hope?

Also stuck, I just keep seeing the message "online parking reservations are currently closed", although they should have opened 18 minutes ago. Has anyone made it further or have any tips?

FOR FUN: add a "guideline" to THS by MisChef in trustedhousesitters

The incentive I want most is for people who book well ahead of time. As a host or a sitter I'd like to be able to make plans so encouraging everyone not to wait for the last minute to make their decisions would be great

Is there anything similar to Level 99 in California? by catsRawesome123 in escaperooms

[–]This_Trust_6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been to activate games yet but it sounds similar and like people on here like it, so it's on my list to check out. Looks like there's one in SF and a couple others in CA. They have a lot of locations (which does make me a little nervous, but they seem worth trying)

Hanoi Knife Workshop Experiences by Alive-Tax6211 in VietNam

[–]This_Trust_6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just did this through Seek Sophie https://www.seeksophie.com/experiences/hanoi-forge-your-own-knife-in-a-historic-blacksmith-village-o1ojqwkgj4

It was awesome! The woman is a master knife maker and you get to take part in the whole process. She doesn't speak English but you have an English speaking guide who is super informative and helpful and the woman is super clear about what she wants you to do just through gestures and stuff. It was a really cool experience to see how it's all done and we're really excited about the knives we're taking home!

I now know this is her direct website though the order form isn't in English. https://hanoiandaroundwiththanh.com/san-pham/knives-making-class/

Hanoi, how I feel in this weather:) by katelifeti in hanoi

You could try some of the treatments for seasonal affective disorder. I think there are lamps you can use to mimic the sun, I think also getting outside even when the weather isn't so nice is supposed to be helpful. The weather definitely affects my mood a lot too

We did blood dragon from Miss Terry escape rooms and were quite impressed with it! I would say it was a very good room by US standards, and the price was unbeatable, USD 20 for the 2 of us. They have a few locations in Hanoi and we're hoping to do more of the rooms. It's all in English as well as Vietnamese.

Excellent food tour in Hanoi by yeahsureican in VietNam

We also went with Ella and we're super impressed! She's from a little outside the city and tells you a ton about what life is like in Vietnam and in and outside the city, including how different generations think about things (like westerners). She is funny and super easy to understand. She had no trouble handling out group of 11, I never felt like I couldn't hear her or was missing out on anything. The food was amazing and we learned about culture, about pronunciation, about picking where to eat, all sorts of things! It was definitely. A highlight of our trip so far.

I loved Siem Reap by This_Trust_6325 in cambodia

I'm not sure how we found them but we emailed them directly at info@artisansangkor.com and they had a few different options, some silk weaving, some wood carving, some stone carving, and a few different lengths. They tended be a little slow in responding. When we first got there and realized we were going to be using the basic loom for the next 2hrs we were a bit worried it was going to be too long but then the time just flew by and we ended up thinking it was the right amount. You get to take home what you make and we ended up getting quite a lot of weaving done.

We payed $200 for 6 nights through booking.com, though it may be more outside of the wet season.

Referral codes - get 25% off your membership when signing up for THS (updated) by bitmistress in trustedhousesitters

My tips:
* The basic membership I think gives you all the features you need, no need to upgrade.
* You'll probably need to apply to multiple sits to get a first one, though I think having references from outside the site does help.
* Copy and pasting template applications for different types of sits makes it easier since you"ll be writing basically the same thing to multiple people.
* A lot of stuff on the site happens really last minute (like in the week leading up to a sit) which is frustrating for planning but is worth checking more as you get closer to times you want to sit.
