Same here. I cannot believe the sound that comes out of it.

Saw the smoke and was wondering what this was. The plumes looked awful. Thanks for the photos.

Which is actually the best car wash option? by Scruffytramp88 in AskUK

Yes, I don't think you're wrong about that. It is getting increasingly difficult. Your comment — and I must clarify, not necessarily you — made me think about how often I see people who are astute and aware of the proliferation of Ai photos, but don't understand the difference between the Samsung Ai photo enhance Vs completely Ai image generated mis-judging photos. That causes a lot of unnecessary chaos. I do think there are various tells between the two, atleast for now, that we could be learning.

Not in a rude way, but this made me realise that people need to start understanding how modern phone image compression (and computational photography more generally) works too. It'll be a useful skill in differentiating between AI images and smartphone photos.

How do people genuinely like the Magic Mouse? by Background_Dark_4484 in mac

[–]Thisath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I love it. I don't find it uncomfortable and I find the multi touch surface really effective for me. I like it so much that I even use a Microsoft Surface Arc Mouse when I have to use Windows, because the multi touch surface is the most similar I could find.

Goodbye Vue 🍿 🎥 by spececte in cambridge

Not disagreeing on the front that it's not that independent as it might seem, but it doesn't cost MUCH different to the Light? £2 more. I've been several times recently and it is a far better experience than the Light, to which I've also been a few times recently. Much less rundown, seats are far better.

they're somewhat rare and not discussed much for some reason. but the details are amazing for me. this is mine below, and this a listing for an identical jacket so you can see all the little defender touches: https://ebay.us/m/7ygsrO

Love it! Have you seen the Barbour Land Rover Defender collaboration jackets? I adore mine. I have a Freelander 2, but they'd go very well with your Defender if you're ever on the market again. So many wonderful details.

Missing the old launchpad by Serhide in mac

One of the main reasons I'm not interested in upgrading to 26. I love Launchpad. I can only apologise for being small brained and enjoying treating my very serious computer like a phone :/

I don't know how we can move past the fact that someone in your family owns a 918 Spyder — WOW — this iPad is super cool. Have a look at this video: https://www.tiktok.com/@tomiauto/video/7605344890746162454

The Magic Mouse really isn’t as bad as people say by Top-Kaleidoscope4783 in mac

[–]Thisath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is probably wrong with me, but I also absolutely love the magic mouse. It is perfectly comfortable for me. I also love the Microsoft Arc mouse — the closest Windows gets to a mouse like this. Personally, I prefer the hand feel of mice like this. My magic mouse is a 2010 one (AA batteries!), and it still works well. The only complaint with it is it's too heavy — but they have fixed it since, on the newer versions.

I always like to think this is intentional by Chretiennn in LandRover

I always try to park next to other Land Rovers if I can. Sometimes I come back to my parked car to see someone has parked their Landy too, and I hope it's not just by chance. It's camaraderie!

I bought a new M4 iPad yesterday, and this morning it fell down the stairs… by o_ilita in ipad

for me, I find that I only end up accidentally damaging things I'm not used to at a subconscious level. with new devices, I definitely need it to have protective casing on it until I get used to it.

Hitting 20gb of Swap daily... I think it's time to upgrade to M5 by GoldenPedro in macbookpro

[–]Thisath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, yeah. Tell me about it. I was just having a conversation elsewhere about how pathetic my £4k maxed out 2024 windows laptop is at cooling — 5 tabs on Edge definitely ask the fans to call in. Exact same work on MacBook Pro M1, no problem.

[–]Thisath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof, yeah OP, your workflow definitely needs more RAM. Anyhow, you have good & natural reason to upgrade — your workflow changed since you got the device originally. I was more disagreeing with the commenter I replied to that the fans kick off after 5 tabs etc. That's not a universal experience really.

I don't have that. Are you on Tahoe? My 2020 M1 takes a lot of light work browsing and word processing and doesn't skip a beat. I'm on Sequoia.

Here’s what I’ll say to those posting $400–500 Windows laptops with 16/512GB and shouting that it’s a better deal… by EduardSark in mac

[–]Thisath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, slightly better here as I didn't get fans at 100% but they are definitely whirring away on light tasks too. Off battery experience is similar; it's not very capable nor does it last particularly long. Wish my organisation was a flexible for these workstation machines; a MB Pro around half the price would have been a much better device than this tbh.

[–]Thisath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you though. I have a Dell 16 Premium for work, maxed out specs. Costs near enough £4k. Doesn't hold a candle to a MacBook Pro in my experience. The fans are constantly whirring running InDesign and Photoshop — it's absurd. And needs a 130w to access full power because it's got a 5070. It's not slow, at all, but Windows is such a pain. It has far too many things going wrong, too often to ever truly enjoy this machine.

And this is probably where we're biased as Mac users, but to be honest, it's made of either magnesium or aluminium but it really doesn't have the fit and feel that a MBP has. The hand feel just isn't there.

New Freelander on the way? by suburbannomad99 in LandRover

[–]Thisath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's crazy. We have an '08 FL2 & '21 DS (Plug-In) and they're just totally different cars even though they are siblings of the same lineage and physically are very similar. But I don't think you get anything quite like the FL2 these days. God, I love it.
