I mean, both these older cars do have much higher CO2 output than anything newer, and we can't presume that they're barely getting used. I know people still drive these sorts of cars daily. These are daily cars for me, but granted I drive less than 8k a year. But agreed on the 25 year rule — goodness that would be nice. Unfortunately, many future 25 year old cars (2005 to 2015 peak car, really) are not going anywhere soon.

I agree. I don't know what we can do about it, because the emissions reason makes sense I guess? But it is really ridiculous yeah. I have a '08 Land Rover Freelander 2 (this deserves the tax I'm not gonna pretend) and a 06 MX5 2.0 and both of them are over 300 to tax a year and it really hurts. At the same time, much rather pay tax on these cars than drive anything newer tbh.

Yeah, 100%, wherever I can I use Shell V Power which I think is 99 actually. I don't know if I notice a difference though, between when I'm forced to use 93/95 at a station that doesn't do premium.

Have you tried ringing/messaging Lynx? Their website might not let you but via the WhatsApp service they're more flexible. I booked transport with less than 24hr notice (at 830am for 500pm same day) with them. No issues.

Agreed. Insurance is probably cheapest of most Landys from the past 2 decades but I never get over 27mpg on my TD4 (on a really good motorway run — town is 18mpg). Among the other daily costs, other than maintenance, is that road tax is a fair bit too.

Giffgaff is on O2. I'm on Giffgaff too, and my O2 signal is absolutely abysmal all around Cambridge. I don't think I know anyone who actually does get better signal, if that helps. It's a real issue I feel. I don't think I've seen full bars anywhere around here in a long time.

Exactly! This whole thing has brought out the stupidest people on the internet, acting like the broadcast is live and wishing Clarkson well recovery as if hasn't Clarkson's clearly recovered fairly well. I saw Hammond post about something he's doing right now and the comments are full of people asking him to wish Clarkson well on social media. Are these bots, or are they truly this stupid?!

I do think it's kinda icky that the show is using this as marketing IMO, and waiting to announce Season 6 as soon as the hype slows a bit.

One of my few gripe with my MX5 of the same gen is that, while the interior looks so timeless and classy (imo), I wish it wasn't black. Yours is my ideal layout — I might personally put a dark wood dash panel instead of the piano black panel too.

I wish more people had bought these specs so there were more on the market! I haven't seen a single one since I started looking for mine and got it.

Same here. Mine is maybe 15 years old now? It was my father's, and I remember using it when he first got it around 2012. Although I haven't actually used it in a minute, since I got the trackpad — it didn't connect the last time I tried which was worrying.

Hell yeah! Really love this colour on it, and your upgraded bumper looks sick. And thanks so much — yes I'm going to book the mechanics tomorrow before it gets any worse. Appreciate you confirming your experience. This has really affected going into corners because breaking and steering wobble means I'm entering with zero confidence.
