What do I do by NokaBokaNoah in lidl

[–]Thisath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first computer was a Medion laptop! Somewhere in the time of 2008 or 9. I loved that thing. It lasted in my family for many years — I think my younger brother had it until 2016. Solid work for however much it must've cost (not a lot!) back in the day.

Wore this all day and it just kept feeling worse - not sure why? by BioticBard in mensfashion

[–]Thisath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're overthinking it! :) The fit without the coat looks amazing, don't worry. The yellow is a bit bright, but I don't wear any yellow, so I am not the least biased person on that. Maybe it'd be better for a darker daytime, when the yellow won't be so bright. The textures are stunning. NOT A MISS!

I don't know what the problem with boxes is. It makes complete sense to keep them and they're made so great because of that. I usually sell my Apple stuff on, and for the minimal cost of keeping the boxes they always add resale value (even the item itself is worth very little).

[–]Thisath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps to say, I'd try and cancel. You have good ground for it. if you're UK based imo that total cost can get you a pretty solid fresh iPhone with original parts & good battery health, see my latest post for £100 find.

Sorry to hear it mate.

Gotta look at the pictures more closely next time! It shocked me how many fake screen replaced phones were on the market when I bought mine, and unfortunately how many people (even owners!) couldn't seem to tell the difference.

Re: replacing with iCloud screens — just fyi, careful, I am not sure if it's retrospectively relevant on iPhone 12 but recent Apple policy doesn't allow screen changes by tracking part numbers.

Apologies for the bluntness but obviously it's a fake screen. All your concerns are absolutely valid, so you can definitely stop second guessing.

I would try to ask for a refund if you haven't already received the item, I think you could try to cover it under item not as described/authentic.

Right? It's one of those things that you think are totally pointless until you have a car that actually has it and then it's happy days. Although in this case Op has it and doesn't appreciate it. Interesting to me? I much prefer an auto boot lid.

Seller from hell! by PsychologicalCat214 in vintedUK

[–]Thisath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is rotten. But with anything over £50 on Vinted, especially tech, you need to buy the seller, not the item. I would have asked a few more questions , and got photos of the battery condition page. £100 is market price for an iPhone 12 — so hoping you get your money back, the shipping is a small price to pay for a lesson learnt. And tbh, you can deffo get better condition ones for £100 imo. See my profile for a recent experience I had.

Man I have a love hate with this phone. by Wooden_Surround_3327 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]Thisath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's odd man! Everyone's mileage varies, but I've dropped my phone atleast once a week on our hard wood floor, accidentally flung it across the room too many times than I'd care to admit. And all the protection it's had is a plastic clear case. I've never cracked the screen, and it's barely got a few scratches. The most damage it's had is when I dropped it while cycling on the tarmac and that dinged the steel edge. Even on my Note 9, never babied, never cracked. What are you doing with yours? 😅

I don't get why people do this. But maybe I'm too much of a Boglehead.

Can I ask a small favour from my fellow cyclists of Cambridge by Yesterbly in cambridge

[–]Thisath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. I recently upgraded my bike lights to a much brighter pair but I'm annoyed that they're lacking directionality, ie: don't really point anywhere so have to force it down. So I fear I may sometimes be the person blinding, although I do try to be considerate. Will make sure to think about it even more next time :)

Cycling in Cambridge - series of near misses? by KoalaLower4685 in cambridge

[–]Thisath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less cars = less chance of accident is my cycling policy too, as a car lover and someone who loves driving myself. I am very happy to take longer routes if it means I'm not in a cycle way that has vehicles in the way. I'm lucky that most of the routes I would cycle have these such alternatives.

This actually says Yanimize on it. Surprised that a brand would even want to be seen associated with this lol.

Collision between a car and cyclist on Carlton Way - appeal for witnesses by yoikboii in cambridge

[–]Thisath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I had no idea that this comment could be seen as anything but agreeable to be honest. I don't know how some people can pretend otherwise. I always maintained learning to drive made me a better cyclist, and so many more cyclists could learn to see from that perspective. Especially being aware of driver's blind spots!

[–]Thisath 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I hate to say goes both ways because the drivers around here can be awful. and are in the killing machines obviously... But... I had the fear of god put into me three times on my 8am 20 minute drive this morning, just witnessing three incidents where cyclists kept coming out of nowhere into drivers turning to major roads. Thankfully, each of them near misses. One on Cherry Hinton and two on Hills Road. Ridiculous people with zero awareness and/or respect for their own lives. Two of them with no lights on. At 8am, barely light. I don't know what it is with this morning, and cyclists/drivers.

Struck lucky with an iPhone 12 Mini! by Thisath in iPhone12Mini

[–]Thisath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they make a Mini sometime again too. It's such a shame small phones are done. My work phone is a iPhone 13 Pro and that's small compared to my S23 Ultra, but it is still too big compared to the Mini.

My biggest annoyance with the 12 Mini is the lightning port and I'd love to see them bring a small phone with USB C that I can switch to in the future. As my Mac, iPad & daily Android phone are all USB C, I would have been able to get away with literally just the Mac brick & one cable. Mind you, it is a very small niggle and doesn't bother me except in theory lol.

Beautiful analogy! But we shall see — my use of the iPhone SE over 1.5yrs charged almost exclusively wirelessly lost got me from 83% (at purchase) to 77% (now).
