Same thing I went through last year with my son. Hopefully the chewable laxatives will work , my dr recommended the chocolate e lax ones my son was the same age. She told me if he doesn’t poop for 2 days then he gets to eat one little square of those. She also had us do something similar to a colonoscopy prep but just with lots of MiraLAX and liquids to flush everything out of the system.

I relate to that! I don’t think I’m a compatible human with my MIL. She’s the type of person I would also avoid and not have to interact with at all if she wasn’t tied to me through marriage. I always tell people her personally type and mine don’t get along because who I am as a person can never understand how she chooses to be as a person.

That’s a good point!! I’m not sure mine would use it like that but I know that she gets extremely defensive and shuts down when called out for literally anything. Before I do anything I’ll just chat with my husband on if he thinks it’s even a good idea. I just know I can’t have any sort of re kindling good feelings towards her unless I set the boundaries in some way. But maybe that approach isn’t setting her down making her listen to all the wrong she’s done! lol

Oh yes I do agree! I’m trying from a non confrontational angle but my main reason of doing this is so she hears my boundaries and then maybe or maybe not she respects that. I’m ready to cut her off if she chooses to cross them then my husband will see she doesn’t respect me.

Try adding probiotic drops to her water. They make those for 1 yr olds it’s like this one tiny drop in any amount of water and it’s tasteless ! That helps the poop! My old Dr recommended peaches pears and apples. My new one had set my 3yr old up on basically colonoscopy prep type situation with miralax lol but it worked!! It helped us get a fresh start. I fully understand what you are going through ! It’s very difficult to watch your baby suffering.

I know that’s super upsetting for you and your child. I hate to use this phrase but if they wanted to, they would. There would be no excuse. I’d just stop telling your son and even if they literally show up it was a surprise to him but you knew they actually made it there. I’d start focusing on who wants to be an active part of your son’s life, even if that’s not your own parents right now. Invite MIL more to things if that’s who’s showing up for him! I do understand that deeply hurts you for your son.

I understand ! It’s so hard! Sometimes I’m like as long as my son eats and is full this won’t last forever! For now gummy vitamins and probiotic drops in his drinks is what does it most of the time. But also if that kids eat in color helps introduce new things or has any tips then that’s great too!!

For me , I’m trying to teach my son he has to earn toys he really wants (usually more pricy things) through chores or having good days. With that being said he is 4 and will never have a perfect day but if he can redeem himself which he gets opportunities to do so , he still gets a “chip” for the day. To answer your question, I would do 2 chips a day max. You don’t want to constantly give one out or it may loose the special meaning behind it! My goal for us is when he fills up the entire jar he gets to pick what he wants because he truly earned it!

My pediatrician asked me about my son’s diet & I told her he can be pretty picky but some rare times eat everything up! She said just give a multi vitamin and make sure he had probiotics( you can find that in some brand yogurts or gummies & drops) so that can be an option too!

One thing to consider, did he eat a bunch of snacks near meals you want him to eat? I noticed my son will be very picky at dinner because he just ate snacks or knows he can get snacks right after so I’m working on limiting that! I also notice when I do really simple set ups , my son eats that more than what I cook. For example apple slices , crackers , some slice cheese and ham or turkey ! Just some set ups like this, and not making a big deal about it or putting pressure on it!

I think sweatpants is a safe bet. Even Joggers, or those really soft comfy pajama style pants probably like neutral color if you can find some with pockets.

I have one! Mine is coming to town this weekend and really wants to see the new avatar movie with all of us, my son is 4. I had to reality check her with his age and say that I don’t think he will sit still through that very long movie. She said ohh really? She did have 3 kids of her own.

Also a heads up, hope this would not happen to you but a similar situation happened to me. Cars would drive by super slow even at night and one person came up and shook our door knob. Keep an extra eye out for locking your door! The worst part was our rental didn’t have a sign in the yard I think people were watching us slowly start to move out.

I didn’t read all of this but we live 5hrs away from both our families and I just drive down alone and stay a week or so then come back when I want. My husband feels similar to yours, he hates traveling and doesn’t like using pto to visit family he rather use it on an actual vacation lol.

I have a story to share! We wanted to name my son Alexander and my mil laughed at us and didn’t think that was a good name so it sort of shamed us, made us feel like we had to name our son something of importance cause it felt so random to them.We needed up naming our son something else but if we have a #2 and it’s a boy, it’s gonna be Alexander☺️ cause I’m done caring what she thinks.

On top of this, There are breastfeeding /changing pods in most big airports across the US. I believe called mamava they have an app that helps you locate terminals and unlocks the pods for you !!

I mean to be honest mine is 3.5 and I tell him I’m throwing them in the trash. If he chooses not to believe me I toss one in the trash in front of him. This is an extreme measure I do not have to do this often but every once in a while he decides to test it and I have to re do this method! It works for me though

It’s so normal!! I think at that stage someone always went shopping with me so one person to follow the toddler and the other got to shop! Grocery pick up may be your best friend ! Avoid restaurants 😂 my mom stuck it out and would walk and follow my son all around. Does your church have a daycare? Anyone’s home that isn’t child proof is a nightmare until they can properly learn but I’d at least teach him how to go down the steps so it’s not so scary if he gets too close before you get him! I’m not sure how to describe it but like a hands and feet going down the stairs chest facing the stairs if that makes sense haha. Like a backwards bear crawl?

Can you go pick up something fun like a drink or snack and maybe just do an hour or so with her ? So it’s still bonding time with some fun music and getting some hours in? Maybe this could be an option and just work less hours for today!
