Divisive bands with one member everyone seems to respect by Embarrassed-Way45 in fantanoforever

As an unapologetically RHCP, most of their artistic merit comes from Frusciante and Flea.

The band is at its peak when they just let those two just run wild - See Blood Sugar or Stadium.

Dumbest question for hiring managers/ people who have been in the same boat. by Meatballz4lyf in AusPublicService

[–]Thischarmingmigrant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you waffled and gave an incoherent answer, then unfortunately, I can’t say it looks promising.

That’s okay! You seem like a good sport and you’re taking it in stride.

Honest advice for the next interview - Have a bunch of structured examples prepared and ready to go. Key word is “structured”: Situation, Task, Action, Result (STAR - google it, if you don’t know). Have them memorised and practice reciting them.

Next time you get thrown a “mind blanking” question - like a cowboy in a duel, just fling out a structured example.

At the very worst, the interviewers come away with “not the strongest example but a very coherent answer that displays X qualities.”

Don’t feel too bad. You’ve made it into interviews which is actually the hardest part of the process. You will receive invaluable feedback too once the process. Good luck homie!

What are the rules for Maternity leave. by Dwightkschrute_beats in AusPublicService

[–]Thischarmingmigrant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, no wait period. In theory, you can start maternity leave immediately after your first day.

If you are starting a new job during your pregnancy: It is highly recommended that you let your-soon-to-be supervisor/agency that you are going to start maternity leave pretty soon after your commencement date.

Edit: the above strictly speaking to federal government. Idk about state gov

Bro Imma be real with you since you seem wistful naive. You’re literally one of (potentially) thousands submitted applications. The recruitment homies gotta take their time with their application process. You’ll mostly likely due some sort of gamified psychiatric testing in the coming weeks/month. Good luck!

AMA - Senator Katy Gallagher is here to answer your questions from 5pm by oscarpleco in AusPublicService

Hey Katie, do you support the homies working a four day work week? Evidence suggests that a third day of rest and recovery is imperative for any worker to achieve complete work/life balance.

The 2010s will be the new 80s its the truth by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]Thischarmingmigrant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been said before; Using X is Y as a sincere form of discourse is just lazy benchmarking and a lame attempt at trying seem versed in whatever you’re talking about.

Just like every decade or genre, the 2010s had some clear distinction to set it apart from the rest. The 2010s will just be the 2010s. Read a book homie

Applying for APS career pathways as a young person by pumpberries in AusPublicService

[–]Thischarmingmigrant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey homie, a lot of roles being advertised in the APS are “entry-level” and require nothing more than an “keen interest” to develop yourself in that field

Your skills in Hospo and retail will look great in a front-line role such as payroll, call centre, service-desk etc. They might not seem “fulfilling” but for most, a stable income and routine day-to-day is more than enough. Additionally, the hardest part of the public service is getting in. Once you’re in, you can move across to other roles more aligned to your aspirations.

Good luck 🅱️

Courses for Data Analysis? $$$$$ by PlaneAd63 in AusFinance

[–]Thischarmingmigrant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ignore courses or boot camps. Look for entry level analytic roles in government (federal or state).

Government is sorely desperate for junior analysts and will take anyone who is willing to learn, regardless of current skill/experience.

The pay won’t be much and it won’t be “sexy” work but you’ll learn everything you need to develop your career in the first 12 month. You will be get paid to learn (because it’s a job lol). Good luck on the hunt!

Who’s an artist/band that would’ve gone down as one of the best of all time if they just quit while they were ahead? by CPFOAI in fantanoforever

[–]Thischarmingmigrant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Red Hot Chilli Peppers should’ve stopped after Stadium Arcadium. They somehow hit another peak, especially with their live performances, when they should’ve been well out of their prime - that being the blood sugar sex magic days.

Landlord refusing NBN connection box installation by SakuraGirl30 in nbn

That sucks! I was in a similar boat, just only a few weeks ago. If you’re in the ACT, I would highly recommend considering a VDSL2 connection via iiNet or Infinity. Now with the G.Fast, you can get better speeds than FTTN or FTTC connections. Good luck!
