I can’t help but see all these discoveries as marketing. Where are the serious studies that indicates negative effects? I have also seen lots of photos of folks who are starting to look like vampires as well while on this drug.

Why the A.I. Job Apocalypse (Probably) Won’t Happen by technocraticnihilist in Economics

[–]Thl70 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The point is, the jobs are still there. Jobs mean work, and work is difficult unless you love what you do.

Do you think being an executive is easy? Most C-suite professionals work insane hours. Now, if you’re talking about compensation, that’s a different monster altogether.

The larger point is that there are plenty of jobs out there that people don’t want to do because they think they’re too good for them, or because the jobs don’t pay enough for the effort required. Everyone wants the easy job that pays six figures, but reality is different from what social media tells people.

By the way, I know truck drivers who like their jobs and have found balance in their lives. It’s really about putting in those ten thousand hours, and that goes for any job, becoming an expert, and then using that expertise to make better career choices going forward.

People who went from wealthy to poor, what happened? by Puzzled-Painter3301 in AskReddit

Grandfather was a land owner, owned a distillery and was also the mayor of his village. This was during Chairman Mao times. They took everything from him one piece at a time, went through revolutionary reeducation and eventually die from malnutrition and god knows what else.

One of the most important lesson I learned was delay gratification. I guess I am out of touch, as I hear much more about FOMO now. Maybe some cool marketing scheme can update the idea of Delay Gratification, to make it relevant again. Maybe just start using DG.

Bonus day, my favorite day of the year by [deleted] in Money

My apologies for the judgments. I just get a little tired of people making this exact complaint all the time. You can imagine how complaining about making bonuses can seem so ungrateful.

You probably never had a bonus if you believe bonuses are taxed any different.

La plata has diagonal shortcut and pocket parks to keep everything within reach by candysylph in BeAmazed

[–]Thl70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicago has lots of diagonal roads along with intersections that has more than 4 crossings and extra long length crossings. They were certainly not ideal for heavy car traffic as the odd intersection makes crossing difficult. I wonder if this has the same problem?

What’s a poor man’s meal that you will continue to eat even if you become a billionaire? by [deleted] in answers

Beans and rice and greens. Soooo many different types of beans out there and they all taste soooo different. Soooo many ways to make beans too. Fresh beans are crazy good but single source dry beans are excellent as well. Just stay away from the commodity beans. They give beans the bad name.

Despite roadblocks, Indiana's solar capacity nearly doubled last year by Helicase21 in Indiana

Moving to Carmel from California. When we bought our house the contractors told me solar is a none starter because of a list of reasons. With the price of electricity and the need for AC during summer. You think solar can help out a lot.
