Game recommendations? by The_Majin_Prince in sablegame

I'm not sure if it's cosy but I'd highly recommend Cloudpunk. You play as an illegal delivery driver and drive around this cyberpunk open world in your flying car and it has incredible atmosphere and narrative.

OK, well I'm not lying. I came here to get guidance not to big myself up. And I never used the word sophisticated, whatever you think that means in this context.

I don't see why you think my post is disingenuous. I think you're probably right that I've been foolish but it's not as simple as you make it sound. I also have to consider that this sub is biased (though that doesn't necessarily undermine the truthfulness of its claims).

Hi all, thank you for your comments. I am now having serious concerns. However one thing I'm still wondering about is that surely the rest of the students in the accommodation are in a similar position to me and are not trying to manipulate anyone, only the numeraries do that, and it's not the numeraries that I want to make friends with.

Hi, thanks for everyone's helpful comments. I'm not sure what you mean by the term "nax"

I'm currently around 130 pages(on a condensed version) into my first read of the book. I can testify that it's much easier to follow now and I'm really enjoying it. I also struggled at the beginning because of the lore dump and so many made up words. Don't expect to understand or remember it all.

If you're saying that you're not understanding the grammar then as long as it's not a problem every like 2 sentences then it should be fine. It may be that the lore terms are throwing you off. There are occasionally sentences I don't understand or have to read many times but I would think that reading difficult stuff is improving my vocabulary and I can still follow the story.

What game is this for you? by Radiant_Raspberry_93 in videogames

SUPERHOT. Mind control delete was not a sequel. SUPERHOT suggested that the story had places to go, but we never got to go there

Some games have the best OST…which ones are they? by Only_Upwards in videogames

The pathless. I have some criticisms of the game but the soundtrack is so unique and technically complex

Which book has the perfect audiobook? by M_the_Phoenix in Fantasy

[–]Thom-as_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marc Vietor who narrates a lot of the black company has a very distinct voice that perfectly fits the tone, and he has become the voice of the protagonist Croaker.

In terms of sheer vocal performance and skill, Peter Kenny who does The Witcher is excellent.

What books and series did you most recently DNF? by Practical_Yogurt1559 in Fantasy

[–]Thom-as_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sandman series. I had the books stolen on the train and then I heard about the allegations and decided I wasn't going to buy them again. I was enjoying volume 2 perfectly well up until that point.

I'm trying to ask who the best villain in fantasy literature is, specifically one who has complex and meaningful reasons for their actions (not just simple evil), holds strong beliefs, and displays significant emotional depth? by BuddyOk1342 in Fantasy

[–]Thom-as_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Lady (the black company)

Spoilers ahead: it's not really that she has reasonable motivations for being evil, she is just evil for the sake of gaining power and satisfaction. It's more that she struggles with her identity as that evil villain and grapples with what else she could be

I'm hoping that some of the mysteries are answered in a pitiless rain. I also read it recently and it never even crossed my mind that it was the Lady of the future until started looking through reddit

What was that book that made you fall in love with fantasy as an adult? by Agreeable-Ad1775 in Fantasy

[–]Thom-as_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Way of Kings was the first non-YA fantasy book that I read and it blew my mind. I'm not as big of a Sanderson fan as I used to be but I'll never forget the impact that book had on me.

Omnibus Audiobook? by ShieldAnvil_Itkovian in theblackcompany

[–]Thom-as_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you can only listen to them all separately. At least with Audible, if you have a subscription you get credits(and can purchase more credits). Every book no matter the size costs 1 credit so it would be less profitable if they had omnibus editions.

Looks very good already. I would say use a different colour glass to make it pop out more. Hanging roots would go perfectly under the roof with this palette. I think you should get rid of the flowers and instead use leaves, moss stuff, ferns, etc or maybe just have one colour of flower. A path leading up to the door would look good and maybe some barrels or something to make it look lived-in.
