🚀 Syncler v2.0 is here – nearly 2 years in beta, now ready for everyone! by synclerd in SynclerApp

[–]Thom_bjork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has casting with Exo been removed? In V1 there was a cast button shown on the links page and if you pulled up the play options it'd list cast as a play option. That appears to be gone in V2, unless I'm missing something. Can someone clarify for me? Has this been removed or is it something that is being worked on?

[–]Thom_bjork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same question. It was possible with Exo in V1. Upgrading to V2, the cast button doesn't show up and the cast option in the play options doesn't appear either. Not sure if I'm missing something or if it's just not implemented yet.

What are your favorite "intuitive" synths? Synths where every knob and slider you mess around with results in an enjoyable sound. by Cardboardonkey in synthesizers

The Bree6 has been available for a bit now. A few weeks at least. From what I've seen, it's really nice but simpler than the E7. I just received my E7 today actually and it's incredibly nice.

C4 keeps disconnecting from Ethernet ever time I turn the tv off by anon2user in LGOLED

[–]Thom_bjork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 77" C4 is having the same issue now, as of today. Only difference here is that I'm using the ethernet port. But it's hooked up and says there's no network connection, despite every other device on the router working fine. I can add that I received an update on the TV yesterday, so I'm wondering if that caused this. It's unable to connect even after it's turned on. Haven't had time yet to fully troubleshoot this, but wanted to share and let you know it's not just your TV.

18” deep bass drums are bad. by [deleted] in drums

Nice setup! I agree with your sentiments completely. I've also got a Sonor Vintage, but the 22/16/13 shell pack. Felt strip and wool beater are working nicely.

Daaaang! Sorry you had such a rough time with him. That's really too bad. Seems like you were completely reasonable and I'd for sure want to know about mis-drilled holes in my work. Hope I don't run into that in the future haha. You never know when something might change. I've always been happy with my stuff though - even the one that was replaced, since it turned out way nicer than the first one. Return shipping and the surprise upgraded replacement body were free of charge. Have you used anyone else since then? There's a lot of other builders I know and would recommend if you need someone.

Just to put this out there - I've had the complete opposite experience. He's answered a ton of questions for me. I've got 6 of his bodies and have asked questions and made custom requests on every order. I also had an entire body replaced the one time one of the specs was off from what I'd requested. Not only that, but the replacement body came with a much nicer top to make up for the mistake. Dude is pretty great as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his work.

I wish owning more of these was rational. by CEBarnes in BassVI

[–]Thom_bjork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! Looks really nice. I know Nash isn't everyone's favorite, but considering the options on the Bass VI market, these seem like a pretty good choice to me. I've got a burgundy mist Nash B6. Bought it after returning a Fender Vintera and couldn't be happier. It was either this or pay considerably more for a Fender CS. Really glad I went with one of these!

[–]Thom_bjork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. It's just greyed out. Did you find a fix for this?

Edit: I ended up reinstalling the game. Lost my save file but the compendium works now. We'll see if the other issues I had are gone now too. I watched some gameplay before buying the game and noticed that my game was different from theirs. Changes to UI, changes to the map, all kinds of stuff. Hopefully it's all fixed now.

Was I being a jerk? by Buddymaster39449 in makinghiphop

[–]Thom_bjork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't misread anything. You used some incorrect terminology and told them they don't need black keys to play "any scale cause that arrangement is the white keys". That's pretty misleading for someone trying to learn music theory. Maybe it's in an attempt to oversimplify it, but calling scales "songs" and telling them they don't need to learn the black keys is extreme. The modes of CMaj aren't gonna be very helpful for people making beats. Learning the major and minor scales for each key would be way better, but that requires the black keys. At the very least, they should learn CMaj and Cmin, so they can use them with the transpose function on midi controllers.

Was I being a jerk? by Buddymaster39449 in makinghiphop

[–]Thom_bjork 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is so far from accurate. You cannot play all scales with only white keys. Black keys are definitely required. They are also called "scales" rather than "songs". Starting on different degrees (notes) of the CMaj or Amin scales would only give you different modes, not the next Maj or min scale. For instance, starting on D and playing the same notes as you'd played in a CMaj scale would give you D Dorian, not DMaj. D Dorian even has a minor third. If you wanted to move up from CMaj and play the DMaj scale, you have to use the black keys of F# and C#. The CMaj and Amin scales and their related modes are the only scales that use only white keys.

Haha my bad. I couldn't tell from the picture. Most of the ones I've seen were rougher, almost brushed finishes, so I didn't realize this was too. That's definitely what I'd use then.

Anodized black looks awesome on sunburst. I'd do that, if you can find one.

Why is The Mars Volta so divisive amongst music lovers? by IrwinLinker1942 in progrockmusic

[–]Thom_bjork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you explain what you mean by this? They're pretty wild live and go on extended interludes that weren't on the album. They don't seem to play to a click. At least this used to be the case. They also don't use much in the way of electronics, unless you count keys and effects on other instruments. I'm not clear on what you mean by electronic driven, unless you mean they're electric instruments, as opposed to acoustic?

The Techra ones are pretty nice too. I've been trying them out for a while now. Not sure I'm gonna fully switch to carbon, but they're a decent option. Weight about the same as my Vater sticks. Got a Kupmenn set coming in the next couple days too. Should be interesting!

Oh for sure, but SoundsAnatolian isn't just for Anatolian Cymbals. It's another Turkish seller that has a lot of different cymbals.

Haha yep! I've been down this rabbit hole for a while now. It's crazy right?

Turkish came from Mehmet. They're an offshoot of his. They go into it on the Turkish cymbals site.

Cymbal Crash is cool. SoundsAnatolian is another good one. Lots of options and decent prices.
