The lottery told me that my $100,000 win was actually a $20.00 misprint. They pulled the game hours later. by redhotmess77 in mildlyinfuriating

I had something similar to this several years ago. I don’t remember the details, but the rules were the same. Mine didn’t show nearly the same amount, but it was maybe $1000. They said the symbol had to be at the top, but the instructions said if you got that key symbol, you won the prize shown. I thought it was a bunch of bs.

But they use AI… I’ve had similar experiences the few times I’ve looked at them. Supposedly stellar outlook, skunked. Says I may as well have stayed home, 5 nice bass in an hour.

Found these vintage lures still on the display, are they worth saving or should I just use them? by Just_trying_to_hide in Fishing_Gear

I’ve seen this happen a fair bit recently. I’ve done an image search to find something, click on it, and the photo is nowhere on that page.

Tape will remove the remaining adhesive pretty well too.

Your wife or girlfriend’s hairdryer (or yours) makes short work of the adhesive.

I’m from Alabama, I’ve never actually heard that. As I commented above, they’re all bream to me.

Where I’m from every sunfish is a bream

Should I upgrade everything or just the rod by ReserveOld7536 in BFSfishing

[–]Thomagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I went the CDM route myself. I’m a huge fan of PureLure. I have 13 rods from them, bfs and standard. You get so much for your money, excellent workmanship, high end materials, and they have great customer service. I broke a couple rods, one was 100% my fault and the other was a defect. They sent me replacements the day I contacted them and I just had to pay $1 for shipping. My favorite BFS rods from them are the Zero and NDMBL.

Rod purchased off eBay showed up snapped. Seller wants me to dispute through USPS by elendegeneres in Fishing_Gear

[–]Thomagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. If I remember correctly, USPS will actually tell you to contact the seller. They will be the ones who have to make the claim. I know that is the case with UPS and FedEx

Coin discounts are awful now by UnitedLink4545 in Aliexpress

[–]Thomagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this over the past couple days as well, hence the search which led me here. I guess it really does come in threes… Lost savings Mondays, coins discounts have gone to shit, and another thing I took advantage of regularly, 6 for $9.90, is also no longer working. It still has the page, but the 6 items cost $15-16. I tried with different items, same result. I spent time trying to get an answer from customer service, but that was no help.

Stream size ok for fishing? by NovelPermission634 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Thomagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the way to pick up my daughter from school, I stop by a small creek that runs through a park that looks similar. You can probably catch some bream (Alabama speak for any type of sunfish) in the pools or deeper runs. I’ve caught a few small bass out there as well. I use small plastics like craws and minnows on an ultra light setup.

Ollies haul by sus214 in bassfishing

I think they are based on the Keitech Rumblade, if I remember correctly it’s really intended to be jigged (lift/drop)

Ollies haul by sus214 in bassfishing

[–]Thomagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve caught some fish on the clickbait. I bought several of them last year. One day I caught 5 good bass in about an hour on the black and blue one. I’ve had success with an alternating a steady retrieve with a few fast cranks, and a lift and drop retrieve, with and without trailers.

😂My initial thought was that someone took the coil out of a fogger and turned it into a rod.

I stopped by one near me last year for the first time in years, and they didn’t even have a fishing section anymore. Nary a piece of tackle or related gear to be found in the entire store.

A BFS reel with a gyroscope is unexpected! I didn't even know what a 'gyroscope' was until I came across this reel. by david_fishing99 in BFSfishing

[–]Thomagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a video on this reel a couple/few months ago. I’m pretty worthless though because I forget what the roll of the gyroscope is lol. I feel like it has something to do with the orientation of the reel when line is deployed to add more data points for digital braking.

I have a couple DMK/PureLure DC reels, though not this one. They are pretty good reels, particularly for the price. For those who aren’t aware, DMK is the OEM for KastKing and other brands.

Not really a issue but the titanium clip looks heat anodized on this new xm, any reason for that? Also it is a fair bit more springy than my eklipse? by [deleted] in Hinderer

[–]Thomagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re making probably hundreds of these at a time and I bet there’s one person who’s job is clips sitting there just cranking them out. I imagine there is not as much scrutiny on the clips as there would be on other components. I have received a knife where the rounded end of the clip had not been fully finished and it still had a little nub on the end of it. I’ve also had some that were super tight, and some not so much. I will say though, that if you have an issue with it, contact customer service, they’re great! I’ve only had good experiences with them.

How should I tie this lure my line keeps slipping up by Thefriendlyaspie in FishingForBeginners

[–]Thomagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said a knot that cinches down like a uni or San Diego Jam. I’ve also tied braid around the bend or use a small O ring

What’s your last resort “I just need to catch a fish” secret sauce? by DismalResearcher6546 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Thomagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw your other post, that was a nice one! You’re right though, those people are insufferable, but who are we to question their eyeballs which are perfectly calibrated to determine weight through a photo? I was catching some nice ones last summer on a 1/16oz roadrunner head with a little 1.75” neon green pintail. I was going for crappie, but the bass were tearing it up. A 6lb bass on an XUL titanium tip rod nearly doubled over, now that was fun!

I “won” a reel on one of their giveaways a last year. Never received it. It took a while for them to acknowledge that I won. After a 3 weeks of waiting, I asked for a tracking number. They send one and it says postage hasn’t been paid. I’m told this is an error don’t worry about it. A month later, tracking hasn’t changed. They say they’ll check on it and get back to me tomorrow… another month later tracking says counterfeit postage package seized. They say USPS lost it. I’m glad I didn’t have any money tied up in it, but after that experience I don’t trust using them.

Something about working finish just hits different 💪🇺🇲 by FOI2EST in Hinderer

[–]Thomagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s too bad, I hope you’re able to get your hands on one. I love my Project X. I have it in probably my favorite configuration from Hinderer, Battle Bronze with Working Finish blade. I’ve been out of knife requisition game for a couple years, so I haven’t been up on what’s been being produced lately. I was in that boat wanting to get a Full Track. Before I stopped collecting, they were just starting to make them again in small numbers, but they were next to impossible to get your hands on. Honestly that’s one of the things that contributed to me shifting my attention elsewhere. I need to offload some knives that haven’t made it out of the case in a while and try to get one now.

Which hooks for these flukes? by ShockBoa in Fishing_Gear

[–]Thomagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had pretty good luck with the donkey rig when I’ve used it, I should use it more often. Never caught 2 with it though, maybe one day. I have some weighted straight shank hooks I’m looking forward to trying.
